What a phenomenal experience. I can honestly say that I had nothing but incredible interactions with any and all of the staff members here. I also want to give a very special and heartfelt acknowledgments to my surgeon Dr. Quiñonez a.k.a. Dr. Q! Now, that I am back and have had time to fully process my experience, I'm really happy with the care and expertise of Dr. Q and his staff. He is somewhat of a reserved gentlemen but has the most experience at this facility. Depending on who you ask he is also the one who perfected the technique that is primarily used at Pompeii Surgical. Although, I made sure to do a deep dive into every aspect of the surgery, (I did 2 1/2 months of training/ learning). He fully explain the procedure and even drew a diagram to make sure that I was comfortable with what was going to happen. Now, let's talk about the obvious. For most people who come down to use this facility and take advantage of the procedures for a fraction of the cost. the fact that it's in Tijuana, Mexico makes people hesitant and even scared. The false ideals of cartel problems or even dangerous activities that are assumed to happen, is a non factor. I highly recommend this place for a high quality medical experience and for anyone that has to pay out of pocket for bariatric surgery. I have read horror stories about being forced to jump through hoops for insurance companies. To fight for financing and their required qualification period to be approved. at the time of this review the cost was $5300 cash or specialized check. That covered everything but airfare. Unfortunately, as of March 1st, 2022, the price has gone up to $5800. But it's still cheaper than paying in the states and in my opinion, Worth every penny!! It's Unbelievable care at a world class facility. I will tell you that this facility and all those that work here from the: surgeons, assistants and nurses are phenomenal. I also want to mention how fantastic the care coordinators and even the drivers- are professionals of the highest caliber. The facility is incredibly clean and modernized. They actually had us change rooms on our 2nd day there and sent us to a hotel without staff to assist. The surgery did go well. We were sent to the airport 5 hours earlier due to driver issues. That being said, Pompeii provided the best care I've ever received! The customer service was unmatched. The nurses were on top of your medications. Everything was ran so well. I'm currently hospitalized back home in the U.S. because of a severe infection in one of my incision sights from my gastric bypass surgery on August 22nd at Pompeii Surgical Center. My incision sights were not monitored or cleaned properly after my surgery. They never even looked at my incision sights after the first day after surgery. I was there four days postoperative and I asked several times for them to check and clean my incisions. They said I was in recovery and they could no longer offer me any medical attention. I was in excruciating pain from day one. I flew home on the 26th directly from leaving Pompeii Surgicsl Center and by the 27th I was hospitalized in the U.S. I had a 7 inch and growing under my incision sight that had to be surgically removed. It was actually growing in my stomach muscle and had to be cut through the muscle. The surgeon here in the U.S. said I was a day away from being in a much worse scenario. I would have been septic and the abscess would have grown through the muscle into my abdominal areas. I've been hospitalized for a week tomorrow and I will be discharged with a wound vac that is costing me thousands of dollars out of pocket not to mention all the hospital bills for the surgery and hospital stay I have accumulated. The surgeon here says it will take up to 3 months for my wound to heal and if every thing goes exactly right hopefully the infection won't return. Pompeii is only concerned to collect the balance of the cost of the surgery the finance me of $3300. I wish I'd never gone there! This has been the worst experience and pain I've ever had to go through in my life and I'm lucky it wasn't worse! read more

Age 69 and now down 41 pounds, after 4 months post Sleeve Surgery. No more yo-yo dieting. No real hunger pains. Cut my high pressure 50% after just a month. Enjoyed the follow-up that was provided. Pros: First let me say I am a registered nurse in Northern California and was a companion for a relative. The care my family member received was impeccable. Yes there was a little language barrier but not bad. Everyone was competent. The cardiologist came to do a ekg on my family member before surgery. The surgeon and his assistant came to meet with my cousin and me before surgery. The anesthesiologist came to talk to her prior to going in about her concerns and past experiences. The companion bed was comfy. It's the same bed as the patient. The food was excellent. Tri-tip, veggies and mash potatoes one day. Salmon veggies and rice the next day. Very attentive when my family member needed assistance. Facility is very very clean. The beach house room was very clean. The protein bar area was nice and they made sure you were able to eat/drink your protein shakes. They had yogurt, cottage cheese, and protein drinks they'd create for you. The doctor that actually did the procedure was so fine and young umph! Cons: some of the nurses weren't confident with their English and would just start doing things to my family member. I would stop them and ask what they are doing. When emptying the drains they would just empty and walk outside with blood splashing. No gloves in the room they would come in with gloves on. When giving report to the next shift, the new nurse would assess the IV and try to touch the site without gloves. Are these minor things yes. Would I still recommend this place yes! I had decided to go ahead and do the gastric sleeve so I booked it here in the US with my insurance. But family talked me out of it. One night as I laid and cried over how I felt and looked I found Pompeii on Facebook. I watched and learned from all the others that took a leap of faith and did it. I had to try it so I booked, life happened and I couldn't afford it at the time, so I canceled. I wanted this so bad. I decided I would finance. I rebooked it! But my husband knew I needed this so he paid for it! I was 289 lbs and with a history of diabetes, heart disease and cancer I knew my chances were high of being the next person to get one of these things. I booked for Valentine's Day 2019, i was ready to give myself the LOVE i deserved. We flew in the day before and played in San Diego. Met back at the airport the morning on 2.14.19 and off we went. The staff picked us up at the airport took us into Mexico and I did all my paperwork and was ready for surgery. It went great! The staff was great, my husband came and enjoyed all the food and sights! They made sure I was okay and with a allergy to some meds made sure I had the correct ones. I stayed 2 nights at the center and one night at holiday inn and recovered a little more. I flew home and my journey began! Things went great! They called weekly to make sure I was okay, answer any questions and tell me what I could and couldn't eat. I am one year out and have lost 110# post surgery and 120# pre surgery! This place is great, they have checked on me, emailed me and helped me through it all! It as clean, affordable and they are beyond helpful! I never once felt unsafe, and always knew they would help if I needed it! JUMP!! Take the leap of faith book soon you won't be sorry! Ps.... the prices included stay, surgery and transportation along with stay at local hotel for last night! Added costs was flights but they can be pretty cheap if you book right. I am an ER nurse and have been here 3 different times. The first was for my surgery in 2019. Then my daughter and friend in 2020. Now it's 2021 and I'm here with my niece. Four of my other friends have went and had gastric sleeve here as well. My other daughter a niece went to a different facility and the care was not as good, it was not as clean as Pompeii, and there recovery was much harder. I can not say enough good things about Pompeii Surgical, Dr. "The Golden Boy" Galindo, and staff. I came in more nervous than anyone around me. From pick up to drop off, to surgery time and recovery the treatment has been more than stellar. I was given top notch care met with kindness, understanding and respect. I was walked through every aspect of what was happening. Dr. G made sure I was good along with his colleagues as well. Spoke with the anesthesiologist and he answered all my questions being it was my first time under general anesthesia. That was the part I was THE most worried about and let me tell you...that was the easiest part. I'm currently still here on my last day and leaving back home tomorrow. I felt compelled to write this review here because I'll be sad to leave these amazing nurses and staff.
