This practice has a lot of great reviews and I want to share my experience in case it helps someone. In January 2025 I made an appointment for the earliest new patient appointment, which was in June 2025. I decided to wait for the appointment because I really appreciated the philosophy found on the website and definitely liked the glowing reviews. I had positive interactions with all staff I encountered and the clinic was clean and bright. The provider I met with suspected a new problem/diagnosis and so started a work up with labs and imaging. Clinic staff did follow up with me once labs resulted out and referred me to a specialist. The ordered imaging was performed ~2 weeks after my new patient appt but I never received follow up, from the NP or anyone else at Ponce Primary Care re: the imaging results. It has now been ~3 months since my last communication, specific to my care, with anyone in this office. I decided to reach out to discuss the standard of care, which I felt to be lacking. Dr. Chad Costley did return my call within an hour or so and he did verbalize disappointment with my situation. He assured me that my experience is unfortunately the exception to their typical patient experience. I was informed that the NP I had been assigned to was "only part-time and here less than a month". I did not ever receive any communication from Ponce Primary Care to notify me that my assigned provider was departing or to invite me to call to schedule with another provider for seamless continuity of care. I was told that my imaging results were never sent by the imaging facility I went to and that "this is where the wheels came off". That is absolutely possible but it was also not confirmed to be true at the time of the statement. The report not being in the patient chart does not mean it was never received by the ordering office or sent to the ordering provider. Sometimes things get scanned and assigned incorrectly, or not scanned at all. Lots of possibilities there. To me, that shows a lack of accountability for not holding a supervisory review of a departing provider's caseload/EMR task list and it also fails to consider that an out-of-state fax number associated with the ordering provider could be the problem. I waited 6 months for a new patient appointment and, whatever the circumstances, was lost in the shuffle. I will not be continuing with this practice, although I'm sure they have many satisfied patients as evidenced by their overall rating. My advice if you wish to establish/continue care here: Be able to advocate for yourself and for your own healthcare. Be knowledgeable about when to follow up on your care in case the practice doesn't. If the wait is still 6 months out for a new patient appointment when you try to schedule, do not think an extra special or VIP experience awaits you - realize that they just might be too busy to accept new patients. read more

My husband and I have been seeing Brooke since we moved to the area over 3 years ago. We love her!! She is kind, compassionate and thorough. I was a happy Ponce Primary Care patient for many years. Things have gone downhill very quickly. For continuity of care, I prefer to see the same provider. I have been through 3 MDs with this practice over the last few years and they have all left--the last one with no notice before or after their departure. Most recently I've had several extremely negative and frustrating interactions with the office staff. I understand there are some things (like providers moving away) that can't be controlled but I am to a point that I feel that the lack of stability is impacting my care. I'm not going to share any details but Dr Chad Costley, Dr Emily Walker and NP Kara Brown are awesome. And I've had nothing but good experiences with the front staff. BTW, Ponce Primary Care now has an in-house vampire service, so you don't have to go to one of those evil labs to get blood drawn for analysis. Highly recommended. read more

Let me start off by saying that all the negative review on here seem to be from 1+ years ago... so keep that in mind when deciding on this place. To be honest, I haven't had a doctor in 7 years because none of the ones I've been to made me feel comfortable or like they cared at all. Anyway, I call and schedule the appointment right over the phone for about 3 weeks out. It was the only one that worked with my schedule. The receptionist told me everything I needed to bring and that I could fill out new patient paperwork online to save time. She was pretty dry and possibly the only thing I'd like to see change about this practice. Fast forward 3 weeks. I was told to come in 15 minutes before my time in case we had any additional paperwork. Turns out nothing more was needed, so I sat and thought I had 15 minutes to kill... WRONG! I waited less than 5 minutes and was called in to start vitals. AWESOME! I saw NP Kristina, she was just amazing! She was very attentive, caring and genuinely interested in getting to know my patient history. She asked more and more questions, which made me feel safe because she was trying to understand me before diagnosing or taking any action. She offered to do all my tests right there at Ponce. She reviewed a binder I had brought in for surgery, and I mean par by page. She read everything cautiously. It's just great to see that she took the time to get informed. The other plus side is I went in expecting to have to pay my copay right away, as they advertise. But they said they would run insurance and bill me if anything was due. Pretty cool! Why don't people care about providing quality care anymore? Professionalism, dedication to do what is best for the patient? It just doesn't exist anymore. I have had several encounters here that have been less than professional, but I always tend to stay with the devil I know, at this point I am ready to try a new devil. This last visit, I had to go back and forth with this place trying to get medication refills and blood work. During the several week period between making my virtual appointment and the actual appointment, I called several times confirming that I did not need to make an appointment for my labs. I was informed, as long as I come after my virtual appointment. When I had my virtual appointment today, I was asked if I had an appointment for my labs, and I told the provider no because I had called on multiple occasions, and was told each time I did not need one. As we concluded our appointment, she told me just don't come at noon (because that is lunch time) and they close at 1700, so get there before 1700. I drove 2 hours in traffic with a sick child at home, mind you, to arrive at the office at 1630. When I got to the front desk, I was told they closed at 1545. After telling them I was misinformed and had driven 2 hours to get there, and had waited several weeks for this appointment, I was told too bad, you should have come earlier. WHY DIDN'T YOU CALL, they said....mind you I had just had a virtual appointment earlier that same day, and had called multiple times over the several weeks. I was told there was just 1 person there that could draw my labs and that she wasn't going to do it. I was then told to go to labcorp which closes at 1900 to have my labs drawn. Had I been informed of this during any encounter, I could have saved my commute and had labs drawn close to my home. Of course when I arrived to Labcorp, they had closed at 1700. So AGAIN, I WAS LIED TO. I am also a Healthcare provider and needed these labs today so that I could travel abroad for a medical mission. When I practice, I am sure to provide the absolute best care I can to my patients because I understand they are relying on me and trusting me. I TRULY FEEL VIOLATED at this point, and DO NOT TRUST Ponce Primary Care to have my best interest at heart. They had a complete disregard for my time and provision of decent Healthcare. I will ABSOLUTELY NEVER BE USING THEIR SERVICES AGAIN, and I only hope they will not be vindictive and withhold my records from the next provider I use. read more

Hands down the best PCP and team I've ever experienced. They have taken EXCELLENT care of me these last five years and have solved every pharmacy crisis I have had. Kristina is fantastic and Rosa is a queen. I live OTP now but I still use them not only because of their telemedicine options but also because they just are that fantastic. read more

There is no longer a MD treating patients at this practice. You are only offered care with a NP. IMO, The NP lacks experience. When asked for care interventions that have previously been offered to me by other Providers at the Primary Care level of care, The NP indicated it was outside her scope of practice. Waste of copay. I felt the response I received from both the overseeing Provider and this NP lacked both compassion and understanding and left me without the help and support I need. I finally decided I should go to a primary care provider to get a physical check-up. I've been going to an OB/Gyn regularly through 2 pregnancies, but hadn't been to a primary doc in... I'm ashamed to say how long. The wait was not long (yes yes yes!) and the NPs & doctors are attentive. I saw Kristina Lemene (NP) and she was totally understanding and nonjudgmental. She gave good advice and listened well, which I felt is rare at some doctor's offices. I didn't feel rushed, which is also nice. I like that there's someone in house who does blood work, so no need to go to another lab. It's rare to find a good doctor's office, and I'm glad I did here. read more

A good GP practice that is responsive, incredibly cautious about pandemic care, offering in-person and remote options. This (like many other practices) office generally uses NPs, who are GREAT at what they do and absolutely worth seeing. Quick and responsive, great for your routine care and for checking up on problems before elevating them to specialists. I would not recommend this practice for someone needing ADA accessibility, as steps are necessary to access the practice. read more

I've been here 5-6 times and my husband has been here a few times as well. We came because of the good reviews, but everytime we've come we've gotten the same feedback. "I'm not sure what you have." Does anyone else have this problem? I just feel like I could give myself the same diagnosis. That's the reason I go to the doctor in the first place... because I'm not sure what I have. They are nice, but I hate having to pay for a service that can't even give me a diagnosis out the 10 times we've gone. read more

Here's a 'health provider' that doesn't have an ADA approved entrance. They are interested in young and healthy clients, not anybody else. Sadly, they were my 'primary care physician' for 5+ years and are like a 'doc-in-the-box' with less parking and hours of operation. I am a senior and my last annual physical there on 12/10/19 offered no EKG, no cholesterol screening and little else. Good luck actually seeing a doctor there because they utilize Nurse Practioners for everything. read more

Writing this based on complete customer service fails. I tried to make an appointment: called twice Wednesday, nobody picked up. They didn't even call me back until Friday morning (I missed the call). I immediately tried to call back, again, nobody picked up. It's Monday, I still haven't even gotten through to anyone. At this point I'm just trying to find a new PCP because this office clearly can't schedule a call. Playing phone tag is not the thing you want to do when trying to schedule a simple appointment. I know they have stellar reviews but this is a rapid way to lose them. read more

Today was my second visit (about 12 months after the first one) and both times that I have been here I have been put at ease. They've treated me kindly, patiently addressed my concerns and sent me on my merry way feeling very cared for in a non-judgmental environment. I always feel I get the best medical advice and treatment and I'm so grateful to have them to call. They got me in same day and I honestly feel I'm coming to a personal hometown office that genuinely cares about the well-being of their patients. If I could put less then one star I would. The customer service here SUCKS. The receptionist/ scheduler has a nasty disposition and is dishonest about their scheduling policies. This is one time I should have listened to the negative reviewers bc they all say the same thing about the staff. If you are looking for a warm, caring, understanding and accommodating primary care office THIS IS NOT IT!!! They obviously have enough regular long time patients that they don't care about the service or experience they provide for newer customers. Even if the physicians are actually good it doesn't matter because most people like myself don't want to have a bad experience with the front staff every time just to see the doctor. There are way too many physician choice in the Atlanta area for anyone to opt to deal with a receptionist who always has a nasty attitude, gives you misinformation, and is rude!!! Front office staff doesn't answer the phone half the time. They do not return voicemails but do receive them apparently because when I follow up and finally get someone to answer later in the afternoon, I receive, "Oh! Yes, I remember that message." Ok...then why hasn't anyone returned my call?! Expect to see a nurse practitioner rather than a doctor more than half the time. I like the doctors but scheduling and billing practices are so poor that I am looking for a new PCP elsewhere. read more

It took me a month or two of searching, asking, and random procrastinating to find a doctor upon moving to Atlanta. I live blocks from two or three major downtown hospitals, so I'm sure I could have found a doctor closer than a 20 minute in-town drive. But, the Yelp reviews settled it: I'd make an appointment to see Dr. Costley. I'm on a few medications and have a little bit of health history, so I was looking for someone who could provide more than just a once-a-year wellness exam. Dr. Costley took care of me, LISTENED to what I had to say, and PROVIDED OPTIONS for my care. He never entered the room looking at my chart for my name, pushed what *he* thought was best, or thought I was crazy for my concerns. Also... here's a plus: I showed up for my first appointment without my insurance card (uh oh!) and couldn't reach my company's HR representative. He and his staff saw me with no problem. Holy flippin' tacos, there are good doctors out there who don't want to put me on a prescription or cut me up. Yay!!! After a 15-year stint of seeing NO doctor regularly (aside from the gyn and a dermatologist), I decided to give Dr. Costley a try. I realized that Google, while full of information and opinions, has no medical degree. Plus, I'm over 30. Plus, I was feeling like shit. I was able to make an appointment for the same day, and it was quick and painless. Dr.Costley lives up to the hype. Nice guy, sense of humor, easy to talk to. Smart. Laid out all of the options. Didn't talk to me like I was a dummy. I like him so much that I am sending my husband to see him for a routine check-stuff-out visit, even though we don't have health insurance for him. It's worth it, and the prices for self-pay are totally reasonable. Oh, and the office is very nice. Clean, mod, art everywhere. Me likey. At the very end, after the appointment while I was waiting to pay, I waited at tops 3 minutes and someone came in and apologized for taking so long. Really? Three minutes? It was worth the 15-year wait. read more

I've had a horrible time with lung infections and cough since becoming pregnant and just when I needed my PCP of 3 years most, he refused to treat me due to the pregnancy (he indicated that the ob should do this and then they refused to treat anything not baby-related.) Anyhow, after a very frustrating couple of months of ER visits and Minute Clinic stints, I found Dr. Walker through yelp. After explaining my situation and even coming to tears over it all, she showed the most compassion I think I've ever seen from a doctor...she even gave me a hug. She really listened to what I was going through and asked questions and then explained to me what her "gut feelings" were and why she felt one previously prescribed treatment may be more relevant than another one. I was blown away, no pun intended. :) Although I still suffer from cough and probably will until I give birth (weakened immune system from baby combined with the fact that I also can't take most meds due to the baby) I very much respect Dr. Walker and enjoyed the mutual respect and compassion that she has shown me and will continue to see her. Don't let the word get out though...I don't want her to get too busy!! read more

I'm sure the doctors here are fine -- they came highly recommended -- but the criticisms of the customer service (in particular the receptionist's nasty attitude and tone) are 100% accurate. Call me crazy, but I'd like my doctor and their staff to treat me like a person. I decided to find another doctor, as annoying as that process is. read more

I needed to find a PCP in my area and I never would have thought to check Yelp. But the reviews on here are accurate. As a new patient I wasn't stuck with filling out an hour worth of paperwork that the doctor probably isn't going to read, or will probably ask me again. I really appreciated that. My whole time spent in the office was essentially patient care. Dr. Costley was attentive, caring and friendly. I feel like my well-being was the focus. I finally have a doctor I can trust and who will help me with any medical needs. read more

It's hard to find a good doctor, especially after moving to a new city. I've been to several different doctors in the area -- one even closed. I actually found PPC through my husband, who has been going there for a while now. I was able to make an appointment quickly after initially calling. The office is easy to find in downtown Decatur and has a small parking lot in the back. This is not a doctor's office where you have an appointment and will have to wait FOREVER. I was called back at my approximate time of appointment. I met with Dr. Walker, who was able to listen to my concerns and provide a course of action for my treatment. The doctor's office also uses an online portal, which isn't that great for rescheduling an appointment (I've tried). However, the front office is easy to get a hold of and will call you back if you leave a voicemail. (Yes, I have had doctor's offices not call me back, which is why I am here at PPC.) read more

What this practice has going for it is the willingness to listen -- I REALLY appreciate that. It's not a perfect thing he's got going on, but it's darn good. Common sense actually still exists and is respected. The missing star is for what I wasn't happy about - it doesn't get placed here because he LISTENED and appeared to do something about it. I haven't ever done this in my history of writing reviews, however, I felt compelled to acknowledge great service when I get it. So, this will be my second review for this clinic. As, a medical student, I know the ins and out of patient care. It is understood that being a doctor is difficult, but MD Chad Costley does it with grace. With ease, I was able to get an appointment next day or even the same day with extenuating circumstances. By far, my favorite GP. I'd venture to say that most people really don't enjoy going to the doctor. I know I don't. I will say this, though; if you've gotta go (which you know you'll have to at some point), do yourself a favor and go see Dr. Costley at Ponce Primary Care. My former physician (Dr. Sharon Rabinovitz) moved on, and I was worried that I might not ever be able to find an awesome doctor again. Thanks to the recommendation of a few friends, I checked out Dr. Costley. I'm so glad I did! If you want a doctor whose focus is on patients, this is your guy. Not only will you get a doctor who really listens to you, but you will get a very hassle-free experience. You probably won't spend any time in the waiting room, and you don't have to worry about being there all day for something that should only take 30 minutes. Also, you're right across the street from Taqueria Del Sol. How can you say no to that? read more

After being slapped with a $350 bill from wellstreet for a sinus infection prescription, I knew I needed to find a primary doctor to see for my health. First of all, the office is cute, clean, and never crowded. You are seen at your appointment time, and are not stuck waiting for hours like the doc-in-a-box places. Dr. Costley is friendly, personal, and SO smart. I have been seeing him for a few months now and can't believe I waited so long to get a primary care doctor. He really does care about your health and takes the time to explain what is going on with you as well as all treatment options. If you need a primary care doctor, which you do, I cannot recommend him enough! read more

Having not seen a physician in 5 years and lackadaisical about establishing a primary care provider since moving to Atlanta over 4 years ago, I must admit it is truly a luxury to only see a doctor on my own terms. Other than allergies and few moles, I've been a poster child for good health much of my adult life thanks mainly to efforts on my part centered around good diet and plenty of exercise. To be on the safe side I was overdue for physical and in need of setting something up. So huge thanks to my fellow yelpers for recommending PPC. After such good reviews I did not hesitate to make an appointment and I was very very pleased with my visit. Just a short 3 block walk from the Decatur MARTA station, I found PPC located in a renovated home with immaculate decor, bright clean atmophere, and friendly staff. I arrived 30 minutes early with completed paperwork in hand, and due to a no-show they were able to see me almost immediately. Kara took care of me initially, getting my health history and family background, took my vitals, and we discussed diet and exercise at length. One of the reasons I chose PPC was the fact that both Kara and Chad (Dr. Costley) are runners and I was looking for fit people to oversee my health care. They even hooked me up with some immunizations on the spot as I am going to Costa Rica in a few weeks. I was back on my way only minutes after my appointment was supposed to start, very happy to have made the choice of going to PPC. Now I only hope my lab results are just as good! I really love Dr. Costley. I love being able to see my doctor on the same day that I call, no matter what the issue. He's a true primary care physician - he takes care of a myriad of problems, and I rarely have to worry about going to see a specialist (but the one time I had to worry about it, he knew someone he could send me to quickly)! He knows me, and spends time at length talking to me about any questions or concerns I have. He doesn't over prescribe or over test. I really like his style of care! read more

I have had little luck finding a primary care physician, partially because I'm a transient twenty something with no real (serious, recurring) health problems (yet). I really only have gone to the doctor when it was urgent (hit by a truck; mono) or when was home for the holidays (...and went to my pediatrician; love that Highlights magazine...?) and honestly this is the first practice Ive WANTED to go to to actually develop a relationship with a doctor/my body and progress further re: project adulthood. Medicine / science is a little bit of magic, and the idea of using data to figure out why your body works the way it does, is fascinating and this is the first place I've felt comfortable, engaged and like I am learning something/improving my own health. I was also going to an ortho for a recently sprained ankle and found Dr Costley to be as good if not better than him at sports medicine advice/diagnoses as well as OB (not GYN) stuff. An awesome family practice and I recommend it to everyone in the ATL area. read more

Went to see Dr. Costley after the flu knocked me on my butt for more than a week, and my voice wasn't coming back in full force. I was able to get a next day appt, even though it was the week after Christmas. The intake form was very short so I didn't spend forever on paperwork. I waited in the examining room for about 20 minutes before he came in -- he apologized for the long wait. Nice guy, nice office receptionist. I noticed he has posted rates for doctor's visits for people without health insurance too, and they seemed reasonable to me. This place is located next door to Farm Burger and the Watershed/across from Tacqueria del Sol. Parking is a little odd (but free) -- it's a narrow drive leading toward the back. read more

Starting feeling bad when I woke up this morning. By 9 a.m. I knew I was not going to last at work. Called at 9:30 to see if they could see me and by 11:30 I was walking in their office door. Did not even have the time to sit down in the waiting room before I was taken to an exam room. Jason is very professional and friendly getting all of my information. Dr. Costley arrived very shortly. What I like so much about him is he really listens and explains to his patients. This is only my second time seeing him but he is now my primary doctor. Here's another strong vote in favor of Ponce Primary Care. Dr. Costley is basically a dream physician. He listens carefully, and offers thoughtful medical advice with your long-term health in mind. Kind of the opposite of my previous doctor, who would begin scribbling out a prescription before I even described my symptoms.... It's never fun to get sick, but it's super nice to know that if I do, I've got Dr. Costley to support my healing process. read more

I see Dr. Emily Walker and she is fantastic. I'm not the best at keeping up with annual appointments (usually only go every 2-3 years) but she never makes me feel judged. She listens and seems to really care. I've also seen Kara Brown and she's just as nice. Everyone is so friendly. The office is always clean and makes you feel comfortable. It's easy to find and to schedule appointments. You guys have a fantastic practice and I'm happy to have found you. read more

Dr. Walker and the NP's are excellent. It took me a few years to find a GP that I really liked and felt comfortable with. Dr. Walker is very detailed and personable. The location is convenient. The wait times are very short. I have been to many doctors where the wait times were so long, I wondered if they had forgotten I was there-that would never happen here. I haven't had a doctor since high school, and I really am not a fan of going to the doctor. When I moved to Atlanta though, I knew I needed to find a general care doctor. I am so glad I found Ponce Primary Care. The staff here makes the experience much better than I have had at past doctors offices.
