Whether you are looking for something to combine with an outdoor event or to spend some time with…read morethe family in a quality place then 'Chi-Town Union Station' is a great place to go. The cost of admission is reasonable for children and adults. There is plenty of seating inside to view the trains and the wonderful model setup they have along with it. From big city Chicago to what appears to be a row of colorful beach or San Francisco houses to small time life at various points in American history it's all there. Amazingly it is woven together so well that the change from one tableau to another is hardly noticeable. Older attendees can find a convenient seat. The aisles are accessible for wheelchairs and strollers. The entry door takes a little navigation but it large and accessible as is the small reception area and exit. The parking lot is spacious. Keep in mind that this venue is cash only. There is a bank two doors down as I discovered (haha). The place is clean and neat as are rest rooms. There is memorabilia around the place which could, if one desired, fill an afternoon all by itself. There's no running for kiddies, of course, but as they move around the modelers have made sure there is plenty of easy viewing for them and anyone in a wheelchair. It's enjoyable family fun and a great place for a date too.

This place is definitely a model train enthusiast's wet dream. The many, many trains roll through tunnels, mountains, towns, cities and underground. It's all pretty neat to see. It's a pretty big building and most of the display is in the center and you can walk and view in a circle. There's a place with a mix of chairs and couches where you can take a load off and watch the action by the fly-over country section. The price is now $5 for adults, $3 for kids 5-17 and those under 5 are free. You can also buy discounted visits in bulk (5 for $20). Open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays still from the begining of November thru March.

They offer a lot more than I use, tennis, kids classes, a field house. The gym is excellent for me. They have a wide variety of equipment, which is plus for me. There is a good amount of free weights, dumbbells, and kettle bells. The Sports Club has a some cable equipment, and a QueenEx (like a jungle gym) which has TRX-type equipment. They have a number of machines. There is not a lot of open space in the gm, but there is enough room for normal workout. At a couple of times the gym can be packed, but normally there is plenty of space. And, there are times the gym is completely empty. There is a cardio section on a different level from the gym, which has treadmills, bikes, ellipticals, etc...They also have a short track around the gym area, which people walk. The classes are very good. Most people could get by taking the classes (which are included) in place of a personal trainer (they have those, as well). My Favorite thing - Towell service. I need a towel when I workout, and I cannot express how much I love that The Sports Club has them available. They do a pretty good job keeping the facility clean. The staff is generally friendly and accommodating. The only real downside for me is the building needs some upkeep, and the parking is a disaster - think grocery store. The club is on the expensive side for running on a treadmill, but it is well priced if you make use of all the club offers.

It is a non-profit organization, always looking for a helping hand. They were closed the other day when I visited. This location is run solely by volunteers, and had no signs with hours of operation. Ah, but during my visit, a couple of the volunteers happened to stop by and gave me information about the organization. I took a brief walk around the well manicured grounds and found that they have a farm museum, carriage house, root cellar, smoke house, summer kitchen, school house and of course, the Wisner Mansion. While I was there, I shot a picture of the historical marker which is prominently displayed close to the roadway. Their next big event is an Ice Cream Social on 26 JUL 2014 and it promises to be a great time. Hours of operation are 11am - 4pm Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, library included. Group tours are scheduled in advance. I see it's been a little slow here in updating info, so contact Sara at 248-338-6732 or office@ocphs.org with any questions or to RSVP. Web site: www.ocphs.org. I wish it was lighter out because the grounds looked amazing to walk through. We were able to find the Calf Barn without issue and parking was right next to it. The building itself had original elements but also modernized and the room had a nice rustic/comfortable feel. Single stall bathrooms were by the front door and were updated. A kitchen sink and cabinet was also in the room to the side. The presentation went well and the room was big and airy. Perfect space for a wedding! Cannot wait to go back and visit the museum!

I would like to be able to shoot there more, but knowing if have to add a steep shooting fee to the shooting cost is a big deterrent to my willingness to come back to shoot again, even though it's a beautiful place for pictures.
