We didn't get to choose this photographer, it was through my child's after school program. The photo itself was decent, but I found the process to be pretty unusual and unprofessional. I've done a lot of professional family photos and this is hands down the highest price per image (unedited, that would have cost more apparently) I've ever paid. $40 for one image is pretty darn high. On top of it, we were required to put $20, non refundable, down because the photographer was very worried we'd remove the watermark. Watermarking is standard, I get that. Usually its a clear colored name of the business and that's it. Lol, this image is SO watermarked we were all laughing. You can barely see what the picture is that you're buying. I'm talking every color of the rainbow ginormous letters that cover the entire photo. It's not physically possible to remove this watermark, why on earth did we need to pay a deposit for this? I'm not personally one to remove watermarks anyway, but it'd be nice to be able to see the image I'm paying for. read more

We received this contact through a friend and I am so thankful for that. Pooja is absolutely a gifted photographer and I almost want to gate-keep her business so she doesn't get overbooked and can't accommodate future shoots :-) (just kidding). I have no words that are sufficient for the professionalism and attention to detail shown by Pooja Photography. I've now shot three sessions through Pooja and she has taken our breath away on every occasion. We set up a consult and we clearly conveyed our requirements and wishes, which Pooja took to heart. Her studio was welcoming and quiet which helped with fussy and curious babies. She did not fuss when our newborn peed on and spit up on her. Pooja had a welcoming smile on her face despite the unexpected excretions and treated them as if they were her own kids. Pooja went above and beyond but then went beyond that point to make sure all of us were comfortable and secure. Guess what happened as a result? Excellent candid photos that looked like our own eyes had captured these moments, if we had had the skill to do so, with the finesse and stylistic depth of a practiced lens. Our newborn shoots were so special and magical; both me and my husband teared up seeing our children looking so precious. I had just given birth and somehow Pooja made me look like I had stepped out from a spa. This may seem a small thing but for women who have just given birth this is such a critical and delicate time. Those moments were truly priceless and meaningful simply because Pooja took the care to be mindful of shooting us appropriately and with kindness. She also had a variety of outfits that I could fit into to make these shoots extra precious. My children showed their impish, playful side that only us parents get to see, and Pooja captured all of these unique moments through her lens. Pooja managed to take each nuanced and candid shot for our album and now we have these timeless memories always. I don't think there are words of gratitude that adequately express our feelings. If you want a mediocre photographer mixed with a slimy used car salesperson, Pooja Photography is for you. Background We bid on a photo session during a charity auction. We hadn't had professional photographs of the family in a while and thought it would be great to do this photo session while donating to a great cause. Win/win, right? Not so fast. It turned out to be an absolutely miserable experience dealing with Pooja from start to finish. First, she didn't reach out when we won the bid. I had to call the charity auction host to get contact information for her to initiate the conversation. Would usually expect better, but no big deal. Then, before she would schedule a session, she insists that we host a discovery call so she can get to know the family. I tried to get past this discovery session, but she refused to schedule the photo session until we did it. The first of many pressure sales tactics. So she sends me her calendar link. She has like 3 time slots available in the middle of the day like 2 days a week as the only available times. Mind you, my wife and I both work and high demand jobs, so getting us both on a phone call at 2:00pm on any given day is nearly impossible. When I explain our busy schedules to Pooja, she refuses to schedule unless both my wife and I can be there. I've experienced this sales tactic before as a newlywed sitting down to a timeshare presentation in Hawaii. Gross. Months of talking past each other go by. She finally relents to letting me get on a call alone. When we get on the phone, she launches into this fanciful soliloquy about capturing my children "in their essence" and starts asking a bunch of questions about my kids. I tell her I am happy to talk about them, but don't want to share things like name, birthdays, or anything like that. She pries. I say I don't feel comfortable with it. She pries some more. I divulge ages and genders and tell her that we will share names on the day of the photo shoot. Then, when my call with her was over, she insists that we find time for both my wife and me to be on a call. Again. Another one. I told her that this isn't a possibility, so she asks to speak with my wife 1:1. I tell her I gave her the information she wants and that we just want to schedule to shoot. She refuses to schedule unless she talks to my wife. You may be starting to see a pattern here. We get my wife in a call with Pooja. Wife shares much of the same information that I shared. We've checked the boxes. Time to schedule the photo shoot. Photo session The photo session itself went pretty well. Definitely the best part of the experience. Pooja didn't seem to use much of any of the mountain of information she requested from us about the kids. At the same time, I will say that she did a good job engaging them. Our youngest in particular can take a while to warm up to new people, and she got some genuine smiles out of him. Nice job. Not easy to do. The venue itself was ok. It was a public park with quite a few people around, but it worked. From the photos that I've seen, her studio photography seems to be her stronger skill set. Post-production After she finished editing the photos, she wanted us to come in person to see the photos as well as the various media that we could have the photos printed in. Canvas, paper prints, we live over an hour away, and she initially insists, again, on both of us being there together. Again, no chance. After some back and forth, we finally get some time to do a Zoom call. We even found some time that worked for all 3 of us to be on the call together! We were informed before the call that there would be just one chance to see the photos, and that we would need to make the order. Otherwise, we would need to pay an extra fee to see them again. Another pressure sales tactic. When we get on the call, she had put together this montage of our photos set to music. Create the buying climate. More hard-closing sales tactics. When we had a chance to look closer at the photos, we discovered that they were good, not great. She added some clearly fake leaves on a few of the photos and did weird things with the lighting on others. Overall, pretty run-of-the-mill photo shoot. With the pricing that she charges (will discuss later) and all of the pre-shoot shenanigans, I was expecting to be blown away. After all, why go through all of that for a mediocre result, right? It couldn't have all been some elaborate sales tactic, could it? Anyway, she continued to pressure us to make a decision about the photos on the call. Par for the course. We end up getting two prints and opting out of the photo album. We likely would have bought the album in most other circumstances, but we were so fed up with the sales tactics that we opted for the smaller package. If she spent half the time honing her craft that she did working on her sales tactics, we would have a once-in-a-generation talent. Alas. read more

We got the newborn photoshoot done by Pooja for our newborn. We were amazed by the fantastic photos that were taken and edited by Pooja. She is an expert when it comes to calming the baby and positioning her for the best shot. Photo-session went so smoothly, we were left wondering, how did she pull off 4 hours without our little one crying. The edited photos turned out to be so awesome, it was very hard to choose which ones would be a part of the album and which ones wouldn't. Each edited photo could be considered a piece of art. We are so glad that we got our newborn shoot done by Pooja, we feel that Pooja is an artist, and her photos are a work of art, or like paintings you can cherish forever. The customer service, communication and mannerism are not part of the protocol for this business. I had a concern regarding a very special photo I ordered from Pooja. The photo was sub-par quality with unrealistic margins and when I asked for a reprint I was responded to with an all-cap email and a very rude mannerism and that "it's my responsibility to crop the picture the correct way". My first time ever with a photography business that did not take enough pride in their work to deliver quality. Imagen if I put the picture up in my house and someone asks who did this job?? I don't know who does business with them, but they will not have mine in the future. CVS would have done a better job printing. read more

Being that it was our first newborn we were very excited about the experience of a newborn photo shoot but We were very caught off guard on the pricing once we went back to select our photos. With how expensive the packages are you would think she would at least give you all of the digital copies as they don't cost her anything but only limited it to a few. In addition the photoshop is not very professional especially with close ups. You definitely get wheeled in with the low photo session cost of $250 but then they will get you with the expensive packages. For a home studio she is definitely on the high end with limited options on the albums and prints. It would have been nice if she posted her package info with pricing along with what you get with each package. Ideally if you don't spend $2k you will end up with almost nothing but just a few digital photo. Very disappointed with the cost and package! read more

In action, I experienced what differentiates a Professional Photographer from those people who "take pictures." When it comes to commercial portrait photography, there's a whole lot of average, and it's easy to make the wrong choice. I was looking for proper headshot to be done for awhile back for my business. Other places wasn't really working for me because the pricing was either way too high or their portfolio wasn't too great. However Pooja's was different. At first she spent time throughly with me and going over all the process during our meeting before my contract. She was very upfront with her pricing, it was very reasonable and I was able to customize (she doesn't up-sell you!!!) And best of all the shots I got back were insanely good!! Pooja herself felt like we'd met up with an old friend, he has a great sense of humour and made me feel like i was a star, directing enough to get the perfect photo whilst not saying too much! She has great hair and makeup artists come to her studio to glam me up before the photoshoot, (And this is totally optional however such a great deal and makes you look good in photo because they use special camera on set type of makeup definitely recommend) Which was also very convenient. Since I was super happy with my first photoshoot with Pooja, I have decided to bring my family for a casual family photoshoot. It was sort of our family tradition to go with our specific photographer every year but I have decided to try with Pooja. Out come was super amazing. We took some studio family shoot and then she lead us to the Park near by her studio and she just did her thing! She was very timely and responsive with her communication during the entire process, because I have never taken professional photos I had numerous questions and at no point did I feel like I was a bother to her. Once I arrived she immediately did her best to calm my nerves down and help me relax before the shoot, I even loved the personal touch of having a classy message board with my name on it (I fall for that type of stuff).
