Pooler Karate is a special place, and not because my daughter spends a lot of time there, but because of the family that has been created by the owner, Carson, and each of his staff members! My daughter, who has been attending about 7 months said it best when describing this amazing place, and as a mom I'm not sure she realized the power of her words. She said, "Mom, you know what I like about Pooler Karate? I like that they see me. My instructors hug me, fist pump me and talk to me. On my crappy days it helps." I found Pooler Karate through my sons interest in martial arts. After a few months of watch my 9 year old have all the fun I got finally got involved myself. I'm 46 years old with a desk job which has prevented me from being as active as I would like to be. Well, I'm happy to say that after 6 months of training 3 days a week I've lost nearly 30 pounds, have more energy and have made some amazing new friends. Master Carson's programs have made a positive change in my life and my sons. I'm so thankful for finding his school and becoming a part of it. My daughter was in tumbling and cheer, and absolutely loved it. Increasing her interest we went into BJJ and has really opened up with these great instructors. She is really coming out of her shell and making friends and learning so much. The instructors take the time to teach and understand the kids learning experience and make it easy for them to advance and learn. We are very happy going there and watched her grow under the amazing skills and patience with the instructors. Our daughter began expressing interest in trying karate over summer break so my husband and I started researching where to take her. We decided immediately to stop by Pooler Karate and have her try a class. As soon as we walked in we were greeted and my daughter who is normally very shy began talking with the instructors. We are so happy we found Pooler Karate. We just moved to Pooler and were looking for programs for our 4 year old to get out of the house and socialize, and Pooler Karate has become so much more. Everyone there is so friendly. And the classes go far beyond just kicking and punching. They will always incorporate tools for learning proper behavior and showing respect to grown-ups, and the instructors also spend a good deal of time teaching kids about how to handle strangers and how to contact police in an emergency. We enrolled our 3 kids at Pooler Karate in July 2016. It was important that we could find a place that taught 2 year olds. They are the only ones brave enough to take on the task. My 2 year old loves going to class each week and she actually learns what she is supposed to do. Pooler Karate has been a saving grace for our family. Our son was very shy and with a speech delay, did not like talking to people he didn't know. Pooler Karate is awesome! My kids love Tang Soo Do and have learned so much in just a few short months. I love the Krav Maga class, as well. The classes have given my kids self-defense skills and have taught them a lot about self-awareness. They have learned about respect and control. I can't say enough good things about Carson and his staff. There is a passion for kids of all ages and all abilities. My 10 year old and 6 year old both have grown in confidence , self control, and obedience over the last year. They love going to practice and the rewards (belts) are earned rather than given out like sport trophies. My kids have been attending this location and what started as just an extra curricular activity has become a way of life. Carson and his staff put together a great birthday party for my son! Everyone was super nice and very flexible. The activities were fun and age appropriate for the kids and the demonstrations were very cool to see. Also they set up and clean up, which is an excellent bonus for a busy mom! Carson and his staff are the best instructors. Doesnt matter if they are working with the average kid or one with special needs. They always know what to do to get through to them in a way that they can learn.
