I believe it's a mile around the lake area and a mile and a half if you walk the entire trail all around the golf course too. Dog lovers will be happy to know there is a nice doggie park located in the back of the park. Nice clean restrooms. The staff is very courteous every time I see them riding around on their golf carts. I'm hoping to catch an outdoor film on the lawn here too, I bet that's a very nice experience.

I discovered Baldwin Park (BP) when I went to explore Tiedeman Park. I did not realize that they…read morewere two separate parks. On Washington and Atlantic Ave, you have Tiedeman Park, then there is the Palm Tree Lane (that's what I call it because I think it still remains unnamed) that spans about 3-4 street blocks that connects it to BP, which is what you will come to at the end of Palm Tree Lane. BP is the circle property on Atlantic Ave and E 41st Street. You can find parking around the circle area. There, you will find a square area with benches underneath some trees that provide a nice shady area. This is a great place to sit to read, take a break or watch your kids play in a gated playground. The playground has one baby swing, a regular swing and then a small structure equipped with a double slide and another longer slide and the other standard obstacles. The downside is the poor attempt at shading the structure. The playground must stay untouched during the summer months, because it is just too darn hot outside and lately, it's just too hot to be outside period! I would definitely bring my kids back here in the colder months, just for a change of scenery and I would never mind the view of Palm Tree Lane while they play!

I quickly parked on the street and google where exactly I was, and asked my soulmate (Yes, Yelp is my soulmate if you wonder!) how the park was. After looking around the area, I decided to wake up my kids in the back of the car and said "let's go play!". It was a chill Sunday afternoon that we were the only three people running and laughing in the whole park. Most of people passed by are either with their dogs or just took a slow walk to enjoy the nice weather. The size of the playground is pretty small with 2 swings and the few slides. Most important thing is they are all well maintained. Park itself is clean and neat. Maybe it can't compare with Forsyth Park. But I actually feel more comfortable and secure to stay in Baldwin Park. The neighborhoods walked through the park with their dogs, and my daughter was excited to give greeting to the doggies. Playground was separated by low metal fences that makes sure kids are not easy to walk away from the area. There are seating benched everywhere in the park, and they are all under the trees. I don't know how cool/ hot will be during typical Southern summer, but I am pretty sure I will let my kids to play in this park more often instead of going to Forsyth Park with the crowd. (I still love the atmosphere in Forsyth Park, but I prefer a slow path area for my kids to run around). Thanks City of Savannah built up such a nice neighbor park in the middle of the between downtown and midtown area. I am glad I find one more nice place to put in my pocket list for kids to spend their energy.

It's got plenty of room for dogs and kids. There were actually two large areas for you to let your dog run. One was a little larger than the other so many one is for smaller dogs and the other for large dogs? I'm not sure. There was no one there. Except a lady walking the loop by herself. The area is totally shaded so will be perfect in the hot summer. The parking lot is large so no street parking needed. The wide concrete entrance to the park is painting with tons of children's games. Makes me wish I had little ones again. There are lots of okay structures for the children. And there are lots of benches. I'm excited to go back!

Fort Morris is one of those rare places where Georgia's Revolutionary War story still feels close…read moreenough to touch. Standing today as one of the few surviving earthwork defenses from that era, the site sits in a smart, strategic position between Savannah and what was then British held Florida. It was originally built to protect the thriving port town of Sunbury from enemy advances, and its history carries the weight of that mission. In the fall of 1778, Fort Morris held strong and its defenders successfully turned back a British attack, a moment that still echoes through the place when you walk the grounds. But the triumph did not last. By January 1779, a heavier assault overwhelmed the fort, and its capture marked the fall of the last Patriot stronghold in Georgia. With Fort Morris taken, the colony returned to royal control for the remainder of the war. As a local historian from this area, I have to say it is a beautiful place to visit. My recent trip was brief, but it was packed with insight and perspective. Beyond the Revolutionary chapter, the site also saw additional fortification work during the War of 1812 and the Civil War, even though it never again faced major combat. Yesterday the garden was visited by a SCAD class and their professor. It was interesting to see the plants the students chose to sketch. A young couple had their engagement photos taken on the other side of the garden. You never know what you will experience in Savannah and this garden is always a nice break from the hustle of the city. Thank you to the trustees that have saved this beauty for our beloved city.

This 494-acre wetland preserve and park is another piece of property purchased by Chatham County. They created a 20-acre lake and have planted more than 20,000 trees. This park is tucked away on Highway 17, on Chief of Love Road. Parking - When you turn off on Hwy 17, you just have to continue driving until you get to a fork in the road. I stayed to the left and then we found ourselves in a huge gravel lot where it seemed the most appropriate to park the car. Trail Description - Once I parked the car, we walked to the fork where I could see the barrier and hiking sign (I saw it on the drive in). We started there and kept to the left. It started out as a pretty well marked path, under the trees. Once you get out of the shaded part, it's just grassy. It will bring you around the lake, and it's wide open, so there is no way you would get lost. We opted to take a shortcut and cut through on the bridge. There was a man there fishing. He said some days the fish bite like crazy and other says, nothing, so just a tip to anyone who likes to go fishing. There are picnic tables and a covered picnic area in the middle by the bridge that are great spots for meal and snack breaks. There were beautiful flowers along the way and also a patch of what I think are called Cypress Trees at one end of the lake. They are pretty much dead, but I thought they were pretty to look at the cluster of them. The reflection of the trees on the sunny day was just perfect. My Fitbit clocked the portion we did as about 1 mile. Kid-Friendly - Absolutely! Very flat trail, however not paved. Unless you have a B.O.B or a jogging stroller with bike-like tires, I would just use a baby carrier. Thankful that Chatham County is very nature focused and is committed to providing green space in the area for its residents. There seemed to be another trail by the park sign, so we will have to come back to explore that portion!

It's VERY SPACIOUS too so the dogs can run around to their hearts content. There are several concrete platforms with high pressure water spigots & tons of dog bowls & buckets everywhere! People were very nice & dogs seemed to get along fine. However, there were several instances of in neutered dogs displaying dominance & aggression toward others WHICH IS DEFINITELY NOT OKAY. Every dog park I have been to DOES NOT PERMIT Un-neutered or unspayed dogs 10k dogs are EUTHANIZED A DAY IN THE US bc people are NOT spaying & euthanizing their dogs. ONE FEMALE DOG AND HER BABIES can have over 67,000 puppies in a six-year time frame! That's because a dog can have three litters a year with up to seven puppies per litter.
