If you have kids and come to Galena, you already know about Poopsie's. If you're an adult and you haven't been in here, you still need to go. They've got something for everyone, and it's super fun to walk around the store and interact with the staff and the games. They've got a ton of stuff that you can play with while you're there, and the staff knows about everything there to offer up opinions on all their items. We stop in this place so often that I've lost count. Their content changes so heading in there is normally going to be somewhat of a new experience, and they've remodeled a bit to make it even easier to walk around and check things out. This place is normally super busy, but I did manage to get some pictures since we were the first ones in. It's absolutely a place to support, and they put in a great amount of effort to make sure you have the best experience in a brick-and-mortar store. It's a challenge to not leave with something in your hands. If you have kids, I'd say it's not possible - at least with mine :D read more

This is a really fun store for kids...and adults! Poopsie's has a really nice selection of Jellycat plushies. Unfortunately, they didn't have the one I was looking for. The woman in the store was very nice and really encouraged me to call back for updates on new inventory. A nice idea, but not quite feasible when you're from out of town. I've always loved shopping Poopsies in person (so much joy just wandering the store!) but I'm now also amazed by their online shopping! Ordered Monday afternoon, and the package arrived on Wednesday afternoon, with the item I ordered along with a note from the Poopsies team and a little treat. So Poopsie's... Probably the quintessential flagship of a tourist stop if I had to pick one for Galena IL. When you think of Poopsie's other legenday landmarks like Wall Drug SD, any of the Bucc-ees, Dick's 5 & 10 in Branson MO etc. should spring into your mind... If you are looking for travel stickers, magnents, or souvenirs in general you can find it here. There is also a WIDE selection of general merchandise. Picture frames, toys, stuffed animals, and so on... The shop spans about half of that city block and is divided into three difference sections. I found their pricing to be fair, the staff was friendly, and there's a lot of things to look at. A lot of the shops in Galena are dog friendly. This is one of them so get too surprised when you feel something thumping against your leg and you look down and it's a tail (true story)... A definite must stop when you are in Galena IL! read more

Poopsie was a nickname some friends used to call me in high school so when I heard there was a store named Poopsie in Galena I just had to visit here! It was the end of the day and most stores on the strip had closed but Poopsie's was still open so we were thrilled. Immediately after walking in we heard someone whistling at us. It was a cute little gnome that motion censored to whistle. It was so cute and funny! It immediately lifted my spirits and wanted me to explore more of the store. There are so many unique items here from gag gifts, children gifts, home decorations, funny socks, etc. I was able to find a few items and the best part was that on the day I went they were offering 25% off all items to celebrate their anniversary. How lucky for us! The workers here were friendly and the store was pretty organized so things were easy to find. Can't wait to stop by here again when we visit Galena the next time. read more

This is yet another spot in Galena that we really enjoyed. It has a hodgepodge of different art pieces, toys, games, and books that neither of us has seen before. Firstly, my Wife loved these pieces of art that immediately caught our eyes. An artist in Atlanta makes these tiles that resemble books with their width and length, and they have different images on the front. Along the sides, there are quotes written, and on the top it has the name of whomever is accredited for the quote. There are quotes from everybody such as Marilyn Monroe to Emily Dickinson. The store also had a lot of tactile items like fidgets, puzzles, and some very interesting board games. At first glance it looks like it's a store aimed mainly at kids, but it has such a wide array of items that most people in general will likely find something that catches their eye and attention. Lastly, the staff were fantastic. This is another spot where the staff appear happy to interact with you and and answer the many questions a person may have in such a unique store. read more

The store has two sides, one for the adults and one for the kids. It has the latest for kids toys and games as well as great gift ideas like jewelry and candles to gag gifts and way more. Not gonna lie, this is like one of the cutest stores in all of downtown Galena, but it's a shame everything is so expensive. They really broke my heart with their pricetags. Every thing I found that I liked, I picked it up and looked at the price and then set it back down because I just can see spending $25 on a card game. I really hated not buying anything but if their prices were about 30% lower, I would have got some of my Christmas shopping done here. Highly recommended stop on the Galena main street strip with kids toys on one side and a more adult flavor on the other side. There are lots of toys out so you can try before you buy. The staff was very friendly and the store was pretty busy. I would also recommend going across the street to Spotsies which is the same owners and shop for a good cause. With a name like Poopsies, clearly my friends and I had to take a look on our Saturday afternoon in Galena. Our expectations were shattered. Surprisingly, its not a weird Hooters-like bar. It's actually a toy store for all ages! Kind of like a locally owned Creative Kidstuff. You can make your own sparkly lip gloss, snuggle with a giant Chewbacca doll and find local art. Poopsie's has to be my favorite family-owned shop along Galena's historic Main Street. It's not just another snooty boutique, but instead, a shop filled with gifts and souvenirs all ages (infants up) can enjoy. A few cool items I noticed were: -A wine glass that holds an entire bottle of wine -A quarter-holding keychain that has an alarm to set your remaining paid meter time -Paper shredding scissors -Golf club flamingos and other metal sculptures -My favorite stuffed animal collection, Giant Microbes Psst, if you look south from Poopsie's entrance, you have one of the best Main Street views of downtown with the clock tower in the hills above. read more

Great little store. First one to hit on the strip. The store clerk was kinda strange. Everything we looked at or picked up she made a comment about it. Kinda felt like she was watching us a little to closely. Everytime I looked up she was staring at us. Wierd... But still spent over 60 bucks here KIDS.... They have a little of everything and I noticed they had signs that said some proceeds go to different organizations hope it does. Best store in Galena! Fun gifts for every age. Magnetic sand, table hockey or soccer, floppy bunny rabbit winter hats, reader glasses, jewelry, unique games... They were playing neat 50's music and the staff was super friendly. read more

The store has an eclectic taste however a limited selection if it comes to toys. I would've given the store a higher review however their false signage pushed me the wrong way. The signs in the store say that they offer a 20% discount to teachers. Upon checking out I was asked what items in the store would be use in the classroom....the items that were purchased were for my girlfriend however if it is only specified to in classroom items they should specify this on their signage. If they're going to offer a discount to educators it should be universal to any item in the store it's a shame but this one event probably turned me the other direction we probably won't be back. read more

When it came to the shopping in Galena, I expected a lot of antique shops. I hadn't really expected such a city-like gift shop that played on a lot of modern toys and gadgets for all ages. Two large rooms full of eye-grabbing items was all ours for the perusing on Friday afternoon. I held back on buying an item for my son in the store as this was one of our first stops so we returned on Saturday to pick up the item (and to look around a bit more) Not surprisingly, the store was far busier. In fact it was downright packed with customers! I kind of felt that the customers to employee ratio was a bit low. I certainly hope that they fix that for the summer when traffic is bound to increase dramatically. We spent a lot of time snickering over the items they carried. Poopsie's always seems to be the most crowded store on Galena's main street. On a nice weekend day, you often have trouble getting in the door. Poopsie's sells all kinds of fun stuff - so it's definitely worth a look around. My favorite days are the ones where they allow the customers to spin the wheel - the number you land on is the discount you get on your purchase. Summary: A toy/novelty store in downtown Galena. It's not inappropriate for children, but they aren't the target audience (based on some of the novelties). It's the parents and grandparents buying things for children. Tons of eclectic and silly novelties, alongside educational toys and the like. Definitely a great way to spend 30 minutes while downtown. Impulse shopping is what keeps this place in business and based on how busy it was that's not a bad thing. I only pulled the fifth star because I have a toddler and this toy store was keeping plenty of the sharp and pointy items at his eye level. Not their fault he had a meltdown because I kept taking things away, but that's frustrating enough to stay fresh in my mind. read more
