Wow..I'm almost speechless. So last night I was making dinner and all of a sudden a circuit tripped and my appliances shut off. No problem, I thought. Went out to the garage to reset the breaker and....nothing. Tried a few more times to no avail. As it was Saturday night and I was worried about my fully stocked garage freezer and kitchen fridge, I started making phone calls. I knew it was going to be expensive and that was if I could even get anyone to come out at that hour. The first two places I called went straight to voice mail. My third try was PoorBoy. I was surprised when Erik answered. I explained my situation and asked him if he could come out. He said he could but he was in the middle of eating dinner, it was Saturday night and it wouldn't be cheap. While I was weighing my options, he offered for me to get on FaceTime and show him the problem and he would walk me through it. For free. I was taken aback by his kind offer. They proved that 2 heads are better than one since each of them brought ideas of how to repair the situation. I am very pleased with the end results of something that the original electrician did a very poor job of installing. While they were here, Erik also fixed a smoke detector which he pointed out was not mounted in the proper place. This they did at no extra cost which was a pleasant surprise. Erik understood that my husband and I were on a budget and gave us instructions for how we could save the most money. I hate giving anything but completely positive reviews. But am getting truly frustrated by the amount of service techs that charge almost to over $100 and yet "don't do this" "don"t do that", this is a blunt round up of the service techs I've come across in the past few weeks.. I have a 8 camera security system that needs installation outside the house. According to the abundance of reviews, it's a fairly simple process, for someone who KNOWS cables and such... I know how to move them and hide them, nothing about installing and connecting. Plus, I don't do heights. Plain & Simple. I'm not asking for someone to get it set up technically, just up on the building. Either way I get the "we don't do those types" response. The kinds they DO do, for anyone who needs this done GOOGLE NEST = YES! & RING = YES! Mine are not either of these, and will take a little more effort. I DO APPRECIATE the swiftness of responses. As well as, responses as all. There's also a rash of contractors that are working but Ghost when it comes to responses.. Honestly, after reading the reviews here it would seem this company only partakes in more of "handyman" type services. Light duties. I've seen their trucks around SLO and wondered if hiring them for a home electrical check up, panels, adding GFI's, changing out light fixtures, etc would be a good thing. Now I know..nope. I've got a mixture of things and need 1 person/company that I can depend on to do it all. Both the no brainer and the brain surgery type projects. When someone gets 5 stars on every review and 1 random solo star then you know something's up. Erik is not only extremely skilled in his craft, but also positive and enthusiastic to help. I contacted Poorboy electric after seeing the reviews on Yelp and being let down by my prior electrician. He came to my home the day i called him and assured me that he could handle the project.
