I asked for her full name so that I can place a formal complaint but would not provide me. I asked to be seen by a different therapist so that I can compare and choose who I can meet for longer term. First, she responded with "the other therapist doesn't have any openings". On my first session I got to meet both therapist and she was open to meet for appointments, so I arranged a meet with her, provided that I have the authorization/referral changed to her name being added. I contacted my insurance to change the referral and add the other therapist. I contacted my insurance, and they changed it with no issues. I received a call the next business day from Lea. She had then told me that I'm not able to meet with the second therapist due their policy. She told me that I had to stay with the same therapist for the duration of my referral. I had the feeling that she was not telling the truth, so I asked to show me their policy. I also needed that to explain to my insurance why I can't do so. The scheduler lied to me to prevent me from seeing another therapist. I have no idea why, but I can only assume that it makes her job easier if she does it her way instead of giving customers an opportunity to do so. It's unfortunate to end up like this when I was really looking forward to continuing doing business with them. If anyone has any information on how to place a formal complaint, please direct me to it so that I can do so.

My regular chiropractor was scheduled a month out, so I called Dr. Reese and he was able to get me in the next day. On the phone I asked how much it would cost and he told me $500 for ten visits. So you can imagine my surprise after the first visit when he told me the bill was going to be $625. I should have stopped then, but still in pain, I paid and hoped for the best. I went to a total of four visits and his care didn't offer me any relief from my pain and tight back/hips. He's a nice guy, he used a lot of machines and gadgets on me, but he did not manually adjust me in the way that my other chiropractor can do that offers me relief. I emailed to ask if I could get a refund on the remaining visits, explaining that all bodies are different and I didn't feel like he was the right provider for me with the methods he uses. He said no refunds and also stated the incorrect number of visits remaining (too few!). Note: I don't have a copy of the signed paperwork or remember what it says, so I don't know what I'm actually on the hook for. I suggest that Dr. Reese provide the patient with a copy of the paperwork they can read before the visit or take home with them. Also, it took over a month and another reminder email for him to get back to me. I responded saying that I was very unhappy and that every body is different and my body didn't respond well to his treatment, and he emailed back with "That is part of having gone to a qualified science base medical school. I have seen hundreds of patientents over the years and I know how long and how many visits certain conditions will take to heal properly. I am sorry you disagree with my plan." I do disagree, I have found better care through other providers and my own self treatment. I am frustrated with Dr. Reese, and I let him know that, and I feel like he didn't consider anything about my personal care or try to make it right. He has my money no and I feel like he has no need to make things better. I hate leaving a bad review, but this was my experience and I'm out a lot of money, so I share in hopes that it doesn't have to be this way for other people.

I visited Arlington Acupuncture to see Dr. Kim, based on the outstanding reviews here, and was…read moresurprised (and a bit taken aback) when I arrived for my first appointment and discovered I was to be seen by a different acupuncturist. As it turns out, that acupuncturist, Stephen Semptimphelter (EAMP, LAc) has recently become the primary practitioner at this location, while Dr. Kim, the owner (who treated me one time and is also fantastic), primarily works at his Seattle office, keeping a few hours each week to tend to his Arlington patients. However unsure I was at the start of that first visit, my concerns were immediately eased. Having had both foot and shoulder surgeries several months before, I'd continued to suffer a frozen big toe joint and ongoing pain in my shoulder due to "guarding." My podiatrist had only days before told me, after several visits with my (exceptional) physical therapist, that it was possible the joint had simply recovered to the extent that it would on its own, and that I would either have to live with it or take any of a number of unattractive options in an attempt to free it, none of them guaranteed to work, nor free of risks to the joint. I was stunned and elated when after a single electroacupuncture treatment by Stephen, flexibility in the joint improved, albeit almost imperceptibly. Six visits later and with a lot of work at home to capitalize on every little bit of increased range of motion, I was able to wear some of my regular shoes for the first time since before surgery, 5 months before. Although he treated my shoulder in various ways at different visits, it was one particular visit when chose a different technique and also utilized cupping that changed the game. Coincidentally or not, things began to change that day, up and down for a couple of weeks, nothing but improvement since. I continued PT, and, just as with my foot, I took advantage of the improvement and advanced in strength and flexibility at home, through yoga, stretching, and gentle, careful use of weights. Now, with PT and intensive acupuncture treatment completed, after a year of acute pain before surgery and months of continued pain afterward (although recovery from the surgery itself was almost non-existent -- I hit the jackpot with an orthopedic surgeon as well), I continue to make gains every day. Just this one decision, to give acupuncture a try at this clinic, made all the difference in the world. Beyond my surgery recoveries, along the way I mentioned my case of mild but chronic (3-month) vertigo, for which he prescribed an herbal supplement that (I am not kidding) knocked it out in just a few days. (Even he expected it to possibly take several weeks.) Coincidence, you say? I thought so, too. But then, after maybe 10 days, I missed taking them for a few days and the vertigo returned. A few days of faithful dosing later, it was gone again. When my supply ran out and it took a few days to get back in to buy more, the same pattern repeated. I've since been able to reduce my dose significantly (from 8 per day to just 2) and remain symptom-free. Finally, during one of my last visits, I mentioned in passing that I was losing sleep due to repeat hot flashes. One treatment and for the first time in at least a couple of weeks, not a single one. I've had them off and on since, and haven't been back in for another treatment, so the jury's still out... but with my overall success with Stephen's treatments and recommendations, it's sure getting hard to be skeptical. :) I'd been a volunteer receptionist at a non-profit acupuncture clinic that predominately served seniors, and I'd seen regular treatments literally change lives. I knew it worked, but it had never done much for *me*. I couldn't have been more amazed by this experience -- by Stephen's expertise and my results. The exterior of the building housing the office is pretty unsightly, but the interior is not, and the office itself is attractive and peaceful. (The treatment rooms are so relaxing it's hard to leave!) Acupuncture -- and Chinese Medicine in general -- can gently and effectively treat a *staggering* array of symptoms and (most importantly) their root causes, and improve overall wellness and quality of life. If you're on the fence and suffering, do this for yourself. You'll likely come away wishing, like I had, that you'd done it much sooner.
