We always know we're gonna walk away with at least one item each when we go here! They have tons of awesome books for $2 each. I found three incredible books that total would have cost me over $50 retail and I spent $6 total. Sometimes they even do a $1 book deal! Lots of great murder mystery books. They also have some nifty furniture too! Definitely different styles of old and new that could look really great in the right place. I've found lots of amazing pieces clothing wise here too. I just love digging around here and finding gems! The people are always super nice too who work here and the cats are always roaming so I love that aspect too!

Beware Fake Sale Practices! I have been going to this store…read moresince it opened years ago and have been very happy with my purchases, and their sales have always been great too! However the last couple of times I have been in I have noticed something odd with my bill. First I was told there was 50% off when I was looking, then I was told it was 30% when I came to pay and then I was told that the ticket price was actually the sale price. On my receipt it listed the ticket price and a sub-total was a price $100 more than the the combined ticket price. I'm pretty sure this is illegal. I just want to warn everyone that they are using and age-old fake sale strategy to sell their products, so beware! Shame I loved this store, I will be looking for an honest retailer for my custom from now on.

They have a great selection for women and a decent menswear selection as well. From shoes, scarves, dresses, skirts and everything in between I've never been disappointed. They carry the raddest of clothing. local designers and unique stuff from Europe as well as some of your favourite (dare I say "hipster" brands). Nine, Cheap Monday, Rains, Zanerobe, Stussy, and more... In the store you will often find local art / artists. As well as great music always playing at a good volume. The staff makes this place amazing. Pablo, MJ, Natalie and more.. They are all fun, energetic and pleasant people. I have gotten to know them and sometimes stop in just to chat. I love this about El Kartel, it is literally a culture / family. Pricing is the only downside as many shirts cost $50-100 and other items easily reaching $130-200 mark. But, and there is always a butt. This pricing reflects the product, atmosphere, and everything. Their sale items are always solid (if I can find my size) and you have to remember these are all designer / brand names and they would cost the same anywhere else. EVENTS. Yep.. They often hold events at their space. And, im talking GOOD events. Live music, artists, and more.. Always a good time. Definitely check this place out if you are into fashionable, radical, fresh clothing and/or businesses doing it right. El Kartel deserves a gold medal. Shoutout to El Kartel, much love.
