I attended my first Yelp Elite event today. Woo hoot! I was pretty excited as it was popcorn sampling and I love popcorn. Tastes buds did not disappoint. The staff was welcoming and enthusiastic and very helpful. The difficult part was selecting the 10 samples. They have so many unique flavors and combinations to choose from it actually took me a while to decide. They have three sections, chocolate, sweet candy and salty/cheese. These are tough decisions. I flipped over the loaded baked potato flavor, yes loaded baked potato. Every bite had the flavor just right. I could have kept eating a bucket of that it was so delicious.But the star of the show had to be the decadent dog popcorn OMG!!!!! Salted caramel, milk and dark chocolate and goodness through and through. They sell a lot of this flavor and it's a no brainer as to why. I also tried the Harry Potter butter beer flavor - this was just way too cool not to try. I loved it! All and all what a fun time this event was. I will return for more. So glad to finally visit the Concord location! Visited Belmont a long time ago. They explain the flavors, sizes, and offer samples. About 200 flavors, but they rotate around 90-100. Choose from Chocolate & Premium, Candy & Caramel, or Cheese & Savory. I tried Blueberry Cheesecake, Fruity Pebbles, Sour Bunch, Banana Pudding, S'mores, and Puppy Chow. Of course, they were all good. You can try four flavors upon each visit. I ended up getting the "puppy chow," which was chocolate peanut butter coated popcorn with some pretzels thrown in for good measure. I enjoyed it and my husband and I took that down with a quickness. There were a lot of hard kernels (husks) in the popcorn, which concerned me. I also could have used a nutritional guide somewhere for each of their flavors. Nonetheless, service is fast and friendly. I've visited this location over a dozen times but the last time I got a lot of useful information. I purchased a gallon tub since I visit so often. I was notified of the "mix it up Monday" which allows you to mix in flavors. I knew for sure that I wanted the bear crunch but I wanted to try something that I'd never had before. I tried the Andes Mint and mint cookies and cream. I walked in on Saturday night to grab a snack and the staff was so friendly. I ended up getting the dill pickle popcorn-- SO good. The cherry cordial is limited edition and very good-- a nice balance of cherry and chocolate, but they were almost out that evening. Something to note: every time time you go you can have two tastings. I also tasted the Cheerwine flavor-- I'm not a super fan, and I love Cheerwine. Upon entering I was greeted and welcomed with an explanation of the flavors and how things work. They have a board on the wall that notes allergens - dairy and gluten so you can choose wisely! As part of the event, I was able to sample 10 different flavors, (out of the 100 they have at any given time)! The sign at the store says they offer 2 free samples per person otherwise. And they offer various sizes of bags/containers to take home at excellent price points. My favorite flavor was the Carolina Mix - a mix of cheddar and caramel! Runners up included Cinnamon Donut (which tasted like cinnamon twists from taco bell), and the strawberry cheesecake was excellent too. They ship their popcorn as well. This is a Black-woman owned and operated establishment. I stopped by midday so the traffic of the store was light. There were SO MANY flavor options when it came to the popcorn. They were also categorized from Cheese & Savory (my favorite), Candy & Carmel to Chocolate & Premiums. This place did not disappoint. Being a girl from the Midwest I really enjoyed the Carolina Girl which was a combination of Carolina Mix and White Cheddar Remix. The Carolina Mix is similar to a Chicago mix which reminded me of Home. Some of my other favorites were the Hot Chetto and Loaded Baked potato- everything tasted exactly as described I could taste the chives. However, I don't know what that means for the Unicorn Poop (flavor). LOL! In addition to popcorn they also sold cotton candy, cold drinks and some apparel. I didn't think the price point was bad either as you got quite a lot of popcorn even in a Kiddie sized bag. They do have special occasion tins for the holidays and birthdays and even a sampler tray which I know I'll be back to purchase for the little popcorn lover in my life. read more

While visiting home, I took my mom to this location during one of our errand runs and it's truly a very good place to get a variety of different popcorn flavors. They're a franchise based out of Belmont, North Carolina, but has small business energy when you walk in. The store itself is so colorfully decorated with an entire wall of buckets of different popcorn flavors. They have nearly two hundred different flavors, of which they rotate 90-100 at a time. They have all kinds of savory and spicy flavors, candy flavors, and different types of chocolate flavors. The people working at the store were incredibly nice. They took the time to explain all the flavors and the pricing and let us try several different samples from all three groups. Through the yelp event, we got to try a bunch of different flavors in-store and got to take home a 3-flavor variety pack. My mom and I ended up taking home Nashville hot chicken, garlic breadsticks, and cinnamon toast crunch. I truly could have been in there for hours trying different kinds of popcorn. I was super excited to taste some of these popcorn flavors. I saw the Cheerwine online and it was posted by one of my friends. I love Cheerwine so I had to get that. While I was in the store, I saw fruity pebbles and oh my goodness I love fruity pebbles too, so I had to get some of that as well. I was pleased with the Cheerwine popcorn, it had a pretty darn good flavor and tasted almost identical to real Cheerwine, but my fruity pebbles popcorn disappointed me. It had a burnt taste to it. I'm not one of those people who likes burnt popcorn. This was probably one of those times where I try something once and never go back. On a side note, I asked one of the associates about the pumpkin spice flavor. I knew it wasn't checked on the board, and I knew they didn't have it at the moment. I said "is the pumpkin spice a seasonal flavor, or does it rotate out in the summer as well?" The response I got was "um, we don't know. The flavors we have got a checkmark beside it".
