The quality of components and the craftsmanship of the employees makes this company stand out and earns our very high rating and recommendation. However, there is one caveat (there always is) and it was the wait time or lag before the electrician arrived. The demo, construction and painting was all performed within 3 days. That left us with a 10 day wait before the electrician did his thing and the CO issued. One tip if anyone decides to use this sunroom company....lock in a firm date with their electrician. Apparently he isn't one of their staff and has his own business. However his 35 years experience made the 10 day span more palatable and his workmanship and customer focus admirable. read more

Our experience with Porch Conversion fell far short of our expectations, both in product and customer service. Product-wise, we were not told, during the sales pitch, that the EZ breeze poly-vinyl would not provide a clear view; I knew vinyl would not be as crystal clear as glass, but the disparity is much more substantial than we could have imagined. I would describe it as a wavy distortion. This is the case with the panels with screens behind them and those without screens (upper transom). Secondly, the sliding panels, which are advertised on their website as 'fingertip easy' to slide, have not been our experience in the least. A lot of exertion needs to be applied to get the panels to the juncture to lock them up. That over exertion will not bode well for the product's longevity and our aging muscles. If we were told that both situations were 'the norm', we would never have purchased the large panels. We would have considered going with the smaller vertically sliding panels or with glass. The customer service complaint is twofold - 1) the lack of transparency about the vinyl in the sales phase. At that time, I had emphasized to the saleswoman that the clearest view was our top priority. 2) The warranty gentleman was quick in getting back to us when I first reached out about our concern. After his visit, he said that there was no issue with the vinyl, and that he "could not go to bat for us" with the manufacturer. Subsequently, it took days to hear back from him about the sliding panel issue. Finally, we were told once again, that's the norm with the larger panels; he also did not offer to send a technician out to see if there was any adjustment that could be made to make the panels slide as advertised. That did not seem like an unrealistic ask after doling out a nice chunk of cash for the system. The sad irony, about Porch Conversion's warranty service, is that this was the deciding factor for us to choose them over another company, who had received frequent bad reviews about their ineffective warranty service. read more

We had Porch Conversions close in our screened porch 6 years ago. It was closed in with vinyl panels. Most have performed ok, but five panels have torn out once or twice. Originally, their service was ok. But the last two repairs have been very problematic. They took a long time to get out and fix the failed panels and most recently, they referred us to another source, who was not able to schedule for 3 months! When we contacted Porch Conversions to plead with them to send someone out, they never returned our calls. Still waiting for repair. read more

We had a screened porch converted to a sun room by Porch Conversions. The entire process was a nightmare. We waited over 7 months for our glass to arrive. We understood it could take that long, so no problem. When it finally did arrive, we asked the account manager if we would have our HVAC folks coordinate with them on the HVAC install. She was extremely rude to me and said absolutely the HVAV contractor could not be on site at the same time as them. This was contrary to their salesman who said "we work with the HVAC guys all the time". The second issue we had was the difference between the CAD design and the finished product. The salesman provided a CAD drawing of the what the room would look like and we were asked to sign off if we agreed. We approved the design. However, 9 months later when they began the install, the actual finished product looked different to us than the CAD we were asked to approve. Their response was "well, that was just a drawing." If it was just a drawing why ask us to sign off on it? The last straw was the ceiling fan. Their contract is ambiguous in regards to ceiling fans. It states the "ceiling fan will be installed". Nowhere does it say who buys the fan. I pointed this out to the salesman and he agreed their was ambiguity in the contract, and they would pay for it. Now they are billing me and insisting the salesperson didn't say that when I told them I was going to subtract the cost of the ceiling fan from the balance due. Be careful if you choose to use this company. I find it difficult to believe they are willing to risk their reputation over a $300 ceiling fan. read more

My husband and I wanted a sunroom on the back of our house. We went to this contractor for ideas and a quote. The salesman was very good and the showroom looked great. However, the salesman did not communicate the initial appointment for the home visit and quote, so we were stood up and had to reschedule. The person we talked to apologized and rescheduled a second appointment. No one showed up for that one either. Poor communication and failing to show up when promised is a huge red flag for a contractor. There are plenty of sunroom contractors in the area, so we will pursue another one. read more

My husband and I received a quote from an extremely pushy couple. They were a bit older and were extremely passive aggressive! We explained what we would like and then were insulted when we explained we didn't want a glass sunroom. We were more than happy, to look over all the options and make a decision. The wife, Mary (I believe) insulted my taste in furniture and wanted me to come to her store so she could assist me! We had a four season room installed last year by Porch Conversions and have enjoyed it. The quality of the windows appears durable and appealing. However, we have recently had to use their warranty department and needless to say they, are not too responsive. First, is the VM from their warranty manager, Joe. His VM states that he will call you back, "At my convenience I will call you back"??? I guess this is an indicator of the type of warranty service to expect. Recently, I placed a warranty call for a minor window frame seal defect we noticed after opening one of the windows during the spring. Joe, told me to remove the screen and press the seal back into place (You would think they would want to inspect this defect). I refused because I simply didn't have the experience or was capable of remove the screen due recent shoulder surgery. Plus I was afraid of damaging the screen and I would become responsible to repair it. This conversation was done mainly by texting ending April 25, 2019. Joe never replied to my last text to schedule an appointment. I finally took the initiative to contact him back by VM and text on May 6th. My fault on the persistence to follow-up; but I really should not of needed to if the warranty department took some pride and competency in backing their lifetime warranty service. Anyway, Joe finally scheduled a repair call for May 15th. Also, I would add that if you choose to install a split unit do not select Coastal Mechanical out of Ocean Isle unless you live near there. I currently cannot use my unit since one of the fan blades mysteriously broke off when I started the unit in the ac mode. My original install was May 10th and barely within the one year parts and service contract. I know the parts warranty will be honored and unsure if the service will be honored at this point. Coastal indicated they cannot make it to my Southport location anytime soon since I am 40 miles away. I selected Coastal Mechanical, based on Porch Conversions recommendation. This issue remains undetermined after leaving 2 messages with their staff on May 3rd & 6th, and no return call to schedule a service call. Ben R read more

Had low e glass porch system installed in November 2015. Brochure with system states "lifetime warranty". The initial installation went well. Good crew. One of the large sliding windows later cracked but was replaced with no questions asked. After the system was in place for two years, three of the four fixed transom windows showed signs of clouding indicative of a broken seal. Porch Conversion investigated and agreed that the windows should be replaced however, it was stated that the windows would be covered under warranty but there would be a labor charge to which i agreed. and the technician did a good job. I have been billed for three hours labor totaling $175.00 which I have paid. The overall window system looks good and I have no major issue with the quality. I do think however that "lifetime warranty" should be just that or if not, the precise terms spelled out up front. I advise future buyers to do this. A labor charge after a one year period of time is not unusual but it should be spelled out. read more

Despite what we were told, they will not refund our deposit as we are unable to proceed at this time. Extremely unprofessional way of handling it as well. If there were 0 stars I would give a 0. WORST customer service and a lot of attitude. We spent $36,000 with porch conversions on a new addition. Porch conversions was nothing but a headache. They wanted us to pay extra money for a support beam which was clearly part of the original contract. Of course there needs to be a support beam connecting a new structure to the side of a house. Then there were the factory problems with the PG windows - which they grudgingly and slowly dealt with after a million phone calls. They fully swapped those windows with a full brand new set and then had to come back a third time to grind with a buffer to get rid of the very large marks. We paid $1600 extra for a tongue and groove ceiling which was not primed properly with a sealant. They had to come back and paint and caulk the ceiling 3 separate times because the wood wasn't sealed first. They caulked the ENTIRE ceiling. The electric FAILED twice and is still not wired properly. At first they had the lines overlapping with my HVAC!! The porch fans still cross over to the outlets in my bedroom and the kitchen light and the outlets in my family room wall - seriously? When the electrician first installed the overhead highboy lights he installed all 6 in the center of the room in a cluster - seriously? They used the old "6 pack" wall switch unit which we later found out isn't used anymore. The WORST experience was the hurricaine. The roof was not properly flashed and leaked during Florence and ruined the ceiling. We got the brush off for two months - they came out and looked but that was it. They claimed "no responsibility" because of the hurricaine. We offered to file a claim and pay them to fix the room if they could send a crew - they sent me a letter telling me they couldn't help for at least 6 months so they had to decline. It is a shame that Porch conversions does not stand behind their products and workmanship. Just a disaster to deal with - horrible customer service. They are happy to take your money but have no integrity. My advice is to use another company. Sarah H. read more

So here's the thing. I had these people come out and look at my house for a tremendous amount of upgrades, replacing deck with Azek, updating the soffets and fascia etc. I was greeted by Alex Torres. Great guy, so I thought. He looked things over and said he needed a second opinion. The second opinion came in the form of a skinny guy with a beard (can't remember his name). Once this guy came, he informed me that he would be in touch. He was never in touch; in fact I had to call Torres to ask him what was going on with this estimate I had never received. Alex Torres apologized and said that his partner was out at a wedding and would contact me regarding an estimate. This NEVER happened. As delicious as it might seem, I ran into Alex Torres at the Wilmington Home Show at the convention enter. I said "I am still waiting for y'all to call me (BTW this is 6 or 7 months later)." His answer was "we have so much work ahead etc, and we can't get back in touch with everyone." My next statement SHOULD have been : then what the F***K are you doing here at the convention center hawking your wares; if you have so much business and you can't event give ME the courtesy of a call to say we're all booked up.:" Needless to say....I went with another company and paid close to $120,000.00 to have everything done that I needed. porch conversion=Fools! When the economy crashes (and it will/sure as anything/Frank Dodd appealed JUST RECENTLY) you will be; those of you left within the company....need not come to me or my neighbors looking for work! read more

Beware! This company stopped showing up midway through the project and I had to get another company to finish the job. It took me twice as long and cost me twice as much, because the new company had to fix a lot of the errors this company made. I will not recommend them or use them again. read more
