Visits to the Dentist used to, without fail, fill me with dread. That dread stopped when I became a patient under Stephen Pownall at Porchester Dental Practice. I am not one for writing reviews but I went online to look up the telephone number on Sunday night in preparation to call on Monday morning due to a wisdom tooth issue. I was due for a checkup next week but they managed to get me in for Tuesday 27th October. Stephen's advice was, as ever, professional and although the pain had subsided (probably due to the 8 paracetamol in 24 hours I had taken) he put forward his case for removing it. If only all medical practitioners were like this! Nervously, I agreed to have it extracted there and then. Like most I would say, there is always that little nagging doubt, but after being called back in following the anaesthetic, I sat down in the chair and it was out within a matter of 20 seconds. Incredibly efficient with zero pain, zero fuss and the utmost professionalism as always. Thank you Stephen! I value your service and professionalism to be in the highest order. Many, many thanks. read more

I am currently an NHS patient at this practice and have been for as long as I can remember. Which may not be so easy to achieve nowadays, from what I hear in the news it seems that being able to get a NHS dentist now is pretty much impossible. But that is to do with capacity and supply and demand and not particularly a fault of the practice themselves. So the practice apart from the above is spot on from what I have seen. My particular dentist has been there all the while I have been and is always polite, friendly and has a great smile - well you would expect that from a dentist I guess. Reminders are issued in a timely manner and dealing with payments etc is always no hassle. Good dentists which should hopefully give you less to worry about when you have to face the dreaded drill. read more

I had the misfortune of being treated by Renata Noori who took nearly 30 minutes to extract my tooth while grabbing on to my cheek with her other hand . My cheek hurt more than my tooth by the time she was finished . She also gave me a filling on another visit but failed to remove all the decay so i had to go back suffering chronic toothache but after showing me an XRay she told me there was nothing wrong with my tooth and added that she was far too tired to extract a tooth . I had to go to the walk in clinic instead where an XRay found acute decay under the tooth and i was given root canal treatment and a temporary filling which was seen to be Mr Sreven Pownal who i found to be the best dentist ive ever had . Sadly he is now retired and today i paid for a check up by Sheena Patel but all she did was poke around a few teeth and didnt read out to the assistant which is what ive always known dentists to do . The assistant wasnt even involved in the procedure. She then cleaned my teeth and hit nerves on most of them and when she saw i was uncomfortable she said i'm coping well . Ive never felt pain like it during a tooth polish m, it was awful but she told me my teeth are full of fillings . The sensitive teeth i asked her about were ignored so ive still got to find a competant dentist who i can trust enough to find whats causing discomfort . The reception staff are friendly if your face fits but i found one lady to be passsive aggressive and they seem to be always gossiping when i visit . I have no confidence in Sheena Patel as a dentist , she smiled a lot but i had the distinct feeling she didnt really like me . Ive used this practice for over a decade but after today my confidence has been shattered . I'm angry that i paid twenty pounds but wasnt given a proper check up . I didnt want to cause a scene so just angrily walked home and i wont be going back . In my 57 years of dental care ive never had such a quick and unprofessional check up and feel cheated to be honest read more

Having been a patient of Renata Nouri for nearly 2 years I can honestly say that she is undoubtedly the BEST Dentist I've had. My biggest regret is not having been her patient sooner (I hail from London originally). Had I met Renata even a couple years prior to my first appointment in early 2011. My teeth would have been in much better shape. Renata gave me a detailed explanation as to the condition of my teeth explanation and information which had long been kept from me by all my previous dentists over the years. Despite the amount of bone loss & gum pocket depths (terms unheard of before) my whole oral health had improved dramatically after just 2 visits to Porchester been treated by Renata. Sadly for me the absolutely vital oral education and CORRECT treatment from Renata came a little too late as bone loss and receding gums are non reversable. Nevertheless, my oral health has improved very much hereby delaying any further advances on oral decay. As a person Renata has a dry sense of humor (maybe it's because she's Swedish Lol! ) and still manages to make me laugh. I've always resented and feared dentists in equal measure with Gusto. But thanks to Ms Nouri's professionalism, efficiency and lovely personality has managed to eradicate my contempt towards dentists. If you're lucky enough to be in the NG3 area and need a dentist then choose Renata Nouri. read more

I have been with the practice for several years and find the dentists professional, however appointment making and reception service are appalling and it is for that reason I have moved to another dental practice. NHS patients are still accepted and I had a choice of two with a 8 mile radias of home read more
