I then decided to buy out the car at the end of the lease and never deal with that salesman again.Last month, during the buyout process, I encountered a similar issue with their finance manager. During our first meeting, she calculated the total amount I owed (which already included the vehicle ownership transfer fee). She asked me to get the safety certificate done myself and bring it along with a bank draft to our second meeting. At the second meeting, I brought both items, as well as my lease agreement. I showed her that the contract clearly stated the dealership was responsible for the safety certificate, even though she had made me pay for it out of pocket. She said, 'I can deduct this cost for you, but you've already brought the bank draft today.' I replied, 'No problem, I can go back to the bank and get a new one.'Then, as she was rewriting the price for me, she said, 'In that case, you have to pay a $30 ownership fee.' I said, 'Didn't you forget that you already told me this fee was included earlier?' They really try to scam you out of every penny they can.
