You can also bring your choice of food onto the bus for your party. The pros: -a wide variety of tastings both on the bus and at breweries -- meaning non beer lovers can actually find stuff they enjoy! -funny and knowledgeable tour guides. These guys make being a beer geek look totally freakin awesome -they know the owners of the breweries and their stories which gives you some insight to their brewing process and flavor passions Tips: They don't have food, so eat or bring some snackies! The men behind Port City Brew Bus are capitalizing on the local growing craft beer and bottle shop industry by literally driving consumers to drink locally. This tour is a must for any beer lover. It's the perfect for visiting guests or those who are interested in home brewing. Each stop on the tour offers something unique; prepare to be buzzed and happy. We started the tour at Bombers Beverage. If you haven't checked out this bottle shop you should. The selection and customer service is unmatched. I will never forget the beer bloody marry I had here earlier this year. While at Bombers we tasted a few different types of beer while our tour guide Jeremy gave us a beer lesson. The second stop was Waterline Brewing. Unfortunately this brewery is not yet open to the public therefore we just the outside and talked a bit about their upcoming opening. Nest we traveled to the #BAD (Brooklyn arts district) side of town to visit Fly Trap Brewing. This brewery is unique because they only brew for in house so if you want to try one of their awesome brews you must visit the brewery. One conversation with the owners, Mike and Emily, and you will be a regular for life. After, we ventured toward the center of town to check out Wilmington Home Brew Supply. This business is the only place in town that sells home brew equipment. They have everything to accommodate your home brewing project and if they don't they will get it. New to home-brew? They offer free classes and demonstrations. The last stop on the tour was Broom Tail Brewery. This small brewery is located in an industrial park on the north side of town. They specialize in craft beer with un traditional flavor profiles. I have had their lemon grass ginger whit multiple times at Catch and it is amazing. We were fortunate to arrive during a shrimp boil, which was a wonderful end to an afternoon of beer. The best part about the emerging beer/wine market? It's community based. Some brewery owners are even related and easy it's to find local beer on draft at other breweries even in the same neighborhood. For example Iron Clad carries craft draft from both Front Street Brewery and Broom Tail. This tour is save and simple way to drink local. Great for groups, holiday parties and adventure. read more

If you, like me, grew up watching Peanuts, then the Port City Brew Bus "It's the Great Pumpkin" beer tour is for you. Heck, if you like pumpkin beers, this tour is for you. We started at Fermental and were greeted by Jeremy of Port City Brew Bus. He introduced us to the owner who then let us sample four varieties of pumpkin beer. From there, he gave us the details for the rest of the evening. We continued on to Fire and Spice Gourmet, sampled a few more beers, and continued on to Brewer's Kettle and then Wilmington Brewing Co. At each stop we were presented with a trivia contest about the classic Peanuts movie, a pumpkin "carving" contest, and other challenges. I gotta say, this event was a blast. You have the opportunity to not have to worry about driving or getting an Uber, you get to meet new people,check out new bars, and you can drink on the bus. After those stops we ended up back at Fermental which had live music. This was not something that I would normally have considered signing up for, but I'm really glad I did. Doesn't get much cooler than riding on a short bus, drinking beer with friends, DJ'n your favorite songs and bouncing from one brewery to the next with a super chill driver that knows a lot about beer (if you wanna know about it). The tour was customized to my husband's beer preferences because it was his birthday. They picked us up right at our hotel and dropped us downtown so we could keep partying. Our tour guide even took our yeti and some cupcakes back to the hotel for us so we didn't have to lug it around all night! They not only catered to our needs, but they took care of all the details of the tour. We stopped at 3 breweries, each crowded on a Friday night with locals. We went on the Port City Brew Ha Ha tour yesterday and had a blast. Started at Bombers Bev Co, on to Flytrap, then Wilmington Brewing and finally Waterline. All awesome places with great craft beer. The whole experience was so much fun and the comedians were terrific. The brew bus itself is great because you are shuttled from place to place, and the staff are so professional and attentive, always keeping an eye out for you when it's time to move on, and most importantly, always ensuring you've got a beer in your hand! The other patrons on the bus are worth the price of admission, too, as the night wears on! This was really a lot of fun and we're so glad we went! read more
