When there are aircraft, it makes me happy. The Avro Monument is a replica of a full-sized Avro aircraft next door to Paul Coffey Arena. It was so unexpected and such a delightful find. This all-weather aircraft was designed for the Canadian Military in Malton. Malton has a rich history in aircraft, which includes building the Avro Arrow back in the 1950's. It is perfectly fitting why a monument was established here. The replica aircraft is stunning to look at. Back in 1978, there was a CF-100 Mk 5 Canuck Aircraft here. It was restored in 2017, which is what you see here now. Both plaques from 1978 and 2017 are just under the aircraft on a concrete beam. I learned so much reading them. I enjoy being a tourist and learning about a cool part of history that was previously vague in my mind. You can park either at Paul Coffey Arena or Light Korean Presbyterian Church. I did the latter, as it's closer to get to this monument. It was a great find. Free and enlightening. I recommend dropping by to soak up some cool Canadian history. (356)

Princes' Gate is named after two princes: - Prince Edward - Prince George They were brothers who attended this gate's official opening on August 30, 1927. The gate was supposed to be called The Diamond Jubilee of Confederation Gates. I am so glad that they simplified this stuffy name to what it has been known as ever since. I worked at the Canadian National Exhibition (The Ex) for three summers when I was in high school (two consecutive summers) and an undergrad. I would take the 511 Bathurst streetcar to the loop that used to be where Enercare Centre currently resides. I'd end up walking through the gate with my pass to get to work. Within the last year, I have been attending more hockey games at Coca-Cola Coliseum. I see more Toronto Marlies games than Toronto Sceptres. They are both affordable and exciting games to attend. When the games are over, I tend to see the Princes' Gate as I head home. The statues are lovely pieces. Most folks drive by without stopping to admire them. Traffic sucked last Saturday. It was nice to take photos and admire this gate. The statues have gone through a number for restorations over the decades. They look great. It's still a fabulous gate. I'm glad that I can admire and appreciate it whenever I'm near Enercare Centre and Coca-Cola Coliseum. (82)

Just off of Lakeshore and Strachan, Torontos Princes' Gates stand like the unofficial gates to the…read morecity. With their angels positioned across the span of the gates giving watch, you'd think these were the gates to heaven not just an entry way to the exhibition grounds. The gates were originally named "The Diamond Jubilee of Confederation Gates," but when the directors learned that Edward, Prince of Wales, and his brother Prince George were going to be in Toronto that year, they changed the name. The Princes were both present at its official opening on Tuesday, August 30, 1927, and the Princes' Gates were born. So what's so great about the Princes' (commonly confused, even by me, as the 'Princess') gates? They're one of the few pieces of historic architecture (statues) in Toronto that show us a far more renaissance period of time for the city. The only other major area where statues and landmarks of this magnitude can be seen are those that are near Queens Park, and along University Ave to name a few. For the person less excited by the historical significance of the gates, you'll be happy to know that they are the main entrance to the annual CNE and it's also where many Indy Cart race cars Zip through during the annual Honda (formerly Molson) Indy. I had walked briefly around the midway and then needed to read an e-mail on where to meet up for a Yelp elite event. Yep, I didn't read it until I actually got to the venue. Oops! There are places to sit outside the arena. There were two older folks already out there, enjoying the day. Instead, I decided to check out the arena for a brief period. There are a number of steps to walk up to the front entrance. I didn't notice what the accessibility situation was. I believe that it was off to my left. The doors open when you approach them. I love that this arena has plenty of places to sit down, even when you aren't actually in it yet! I sat between the two sets of doors at the front. I walked in and there was yet another area with comfy chairs to sit down. The latter is better on a hot summer day, as the air conditioning is effective there. The rotary volunteers made their headquarters in the arena. Unfortunately, I couldn't see what was behind them. I did get to briefly check out the upstairs. This arena gives you the impression that it's new. It's gorgeous and bright. You know what? It has been there for over fifty years. Who knew?! There is a snack bar. It's a well-designed arena for hockey and more. I would love to come back to an event that is held in this arena. It appears to be a flexible, multifunctional place for various events besides hockey games in the winter. I appreciated that I could sit there and carefully read my e-mail. I figured out that I needed to be on the opposite side of the park by the lighthouse. I loved the inspirational message that you see when you walk into the area. Be nice. You should, regardless of whether your a kid or an older grownup. Good advice! (261)

Perfect place to go and relax and disconnect. You can even see Toronto Skyline from here. There is also a viewing deck, from where you can get a better overall view. This pictures don't do justice to this place. You have experience this place with your eyes. I found this park in fall and went there few times in last weeks of fall before snow. I just envy the people who live close to this place. There were few houses close by, that have balconies opening to lake view. Oh it must be so amazing to wake up everyday to this heavenly view!!
