Because my championship cigar purchase couldn't have been any better…read more --- --- --- After being unhealthily obsessed with Cleveland sports for my entire life, the Cavaliers won the NBA Finals in June. What else could I possibly do to celebrate this monumentous occasion, other than by purchasing a victory cigar? The answer is nothing. Enter: Royal 10. I walked in and said, "I know absolutely nothing about cigars, other than the fact that I want one." He was re-watching Game 7 and knew why I was there. He suggested something mild, which sounded good to me. In the past, I've smoked a cigar and felt like a walking chimney the next morning. I was nervous that this would be the case again, but it couldn't have been further from reality. I couldn't even tell that I'd had a cigar the day before, when it came to the next morning. I really came to appreciate Royal 10 even more, when a month later, I smoked a cigar because of a promotion, and didn't have the same good fortune. I wish I could tell you what kind of cigar it was, but since I have on idea, I'll just call it a championship cigar :)

For starters - their cigar selection was paltry; most of the boxes on the shelves were empty. The pricing on what they did have was good so I made due, but that was disappointing. Next, I think they have a sitting fee for visitors, but I came in ~1hr before closing and I wasn't charged. The place has two floors: first floor is the shop and the 2nd floor is the lounge. When I went upstairs, the place was empty (which is fine) but my issue was the cleanliness. The space was not well kept; all the chairs were worn, several areas had ash on the floor, and the bathroom was extremely untidy. I was there roughly 45 minutes and while someone came by to check on me... I think he was going to the bathroom (and figured he would kill two birds with one stone.) In closing, the sticks weren't expensive, and the upstairs is a decent size. If you're not particular, by all means stop in and give them a try. That said I can't recommend this location because I expect more service, a larger selection and a cleaner space.

Upon entering we were both warmly greeted and felt like old buddies with the shop attendant. He told is to check out the humidor and let us explore to our hearts content. The humidor room smelled amazing, and it was enormous! The selection of cigars ranged from the classics to the obscure, and all different price points. We made a few selections and had our cigars cut and some matches thrown in for us. We found a beautiful spot right up the road to light up and both of our stogies were perfect; they were flavorful, moist, and smoked smooth. What a fun find! We will be back in Akron next week and hopefully will get a chance to stop by again!!
