They have seasonal reading clubs for kids to raffle for prizes. There are also lots of programs for kids and adults to utilize. There are also museum passes available to rent. Some passes now are digital to print out and some are still physical passes. Each have different regulations of how many admissions and rules which are listed on the library website.

Most of the passes you can print from home, but there are a few where you need to pick the pass up from the library. I especially like to use the empire pass to get free admission to beaches and state parks. The library has a good selection of video games, DVD and blue rays. I find myself using this perk less often now with streaming being more convenient, but I will occasionally borrow a series that streams from a platform that I do not subscribe to or to avoid commercials. There are programs for patrons of all ages. Summer reading programs with some incentives are for adults, teens and children. My niece has been enjoying tots at night and story time. She also loves the children's area that has a kitchen, cashier stand, doll houses, puppet theater and Lego table. The staff are kind, helpful and knowledgeable. It's great to see them when visiting.

I showed the librarian my current driver's license that shows both my name and current address. The librarian was very friendly and welcoming. I've received the library's monthly newsletter that lists the many free programs (book club meet ups, movie nights, craft clubs, author events, and so much more). I've participated in the Defensive Driving six-hour class with Empire Safety Council on a Saturday from 10:00 am - 4:00 pm. The fee was $35 and it meets in the meeting room. Though Westbury Memorial Public Library has a great selection of items, I've also used the interlibrary loan many times. This is a free library service that allows people to request books, movies, games, etc. not at Westbury Memorial Public Library. Most requests for books and media items are filled within a week, which is very convenient and quick. Items that are available for pickup is behind the circulation desk and the librarian will get it for you after your library card is scanned. Another great service is complimentary passes to museum and cultural sites. I've reserved free family passes to Vanderbilt Museum, Mansion and Planetarium, Old Westbury Gardens, and Cradle for Aviation. The passes for Vanderbilt Museum, Mansion and Planetarium and Old Westbury Gardens were both electronic. The Cradle for Aviation pass is a physical one. Most recently, I joined and completed the Adult Summer Reading challenge from Monday, June 29 - Monday, August 17, 2026. On the first day, I picked up a swag bag at the Reference Desk. After every book I read, I filled out a raffle bookmark and dropped it in the box back at the library. Prizes were drawn each week. Unfortunately, I did not win any of the prizes, but it was fun to participate. Children's Library is a separate building and they have switch games to borrow. Libraries support my reading obsession in the most cost-efficient way and offer so much more. Westbury Memorial Public Library is a great community library and I am glad I am a member. All the staff I've interacted with have been very friendly.

Outdoor seating is insight, and is probably available when it gets warmer... Besides the regular library facilities and activities are classes, I must mention the bright and airy space, the high ceiling for the main floor, many computers on first and second floors, huge selection of dvds, and free WiFi are reasons of this one better than other Great Neck Libraries. If you don't find your book, you can look for it through the network and request it to be sent to this library. I find this library very pleasant and quiet. As the kids room and multiple purpose rooms are downstairs with doors near the restrooms, I don't hear much of kids playing sound when I am on the main floor. You can be pretty productive and get some mind intensive jobs done in here.

My friends and I came here to study and one of my friends had Dunkin's and he told us not to eat in the area we were at, to eat in the snack area and so we went with her to eat her Dunkin's in the snack area. Mid-bite this angry frustrated tea towel came over yelling at us to get out if we want to eat anything when he clearly told us we could eat in the snack area. Don't go here before studying the rule book or this guy will definitely pull an angry bird on you.

The Children's Area is also nice compared to most libraries in Queens as it has a carpet floor and lots of toys for the children to play with. Unfortunately the street parking is extremely difficult and I had to park in CVS Pharmacy parking lot which is a block away. Their Baby & Me Program was mediocre (or maybe I've been spoiled by the programs in Glen Oaks Library) as the play mat wasn't big enough for all babies and toddlers to move around on and most toys were out of batteries that the light/sound didn't turn on. The person who led Baby & Me Program also didn't let parents take a photo of of their children, stating that she doesn't know what kind of situation the children are in and therefore the libraries don't allow people to take photos of the children. Hm, I took numerous photos at other libraries and I was never stopped. While the librarian in the Children's Area was super helpful, I'm not sure if it worth a struggle to come back to this library again.

The negative is that the play area for toddlers is not self contained , so our toddler of course wanted to walk around the corridor and go out. There are some libraries that have a closed play areas,making it much easier to navigate. Plainview and Syosset libraries are just two that have a closed area, which is easier.
