Our preschooler had a short and unsuccessful period there, culminating in an unexpected request for us to leave with only a week's notice. This not only felt like a waste of time and resources but also made it challenging to find alternative care in the middle of the school year. Unfortunately, my child now experiences anxiety when entering any school setting, which is a significant concern. Additionally, I was disappointed to learn that deposits and school materials are non-refundable due to their "standard process." I also noticed that there were no requirements or assessments for the cohort my child was in, which raised concerns about the overall standards. The protocol and procedures for student removal are vague, almost nonexistent, creating mismatched expectations for us. We also felt that the school lacks diversity, as it seems to favor a specific type of student while not adequately addressing the emotional needs of the kids. Despite these challenges, I would recommend this school to parents of typical, average smart kids who are prepared to engage in the learning process. Parents should also be prepared for year-long donation requests via email, text, and automated phone calls, plus in average one week no school per school month. Overall, we're relieved to have moved on from this experience.

My attempts to address my concerns through the appropriate channels, I was dismissed rather than supported, and the situation escalated instead of being resolved constructively. What was most troubling was that, while advocating for my child, law enforcement was called on me by Wayne Morosco rather than the school working collaboratively to address the concerns I raised. As a parent, I expected open communication, fairness, and a genuine commitment to the well-being of students. CCS should reflect values such as compassion, integrity, respect, and justice. Unfortunately, my experience did not reflect those principles. I hope the school takes steps to improve how it handles parent concerns, student advocacy, and allegations of unfair treatment so that other families do not have a similar experience

Fast forward to our local kindergarten enrollment and he is extremely well equipped to tackle kindergarten. When most kids are just learning to put together words, he is already reading and writing. While YMMV, we have been very happy with our son's experience at the Montessori Academy. It is a small school with a low student to faculty ratio. There is a lot of individualized attention that I think is key component to the kids' successful learning experience.

LARC is an agency that supports adults with developmental disabilities. They have a day program…read more(workshop) and residential cilas. They also offer respite services. Management is a complete and utter joke. The exec. director is all smoke and mirrors. The residential director is lost in translation. There's a director of supported employment, but there's no employment to support so...yeah. No one wants to take responsibility for anything. LARC is stagnant. They claim to be small and family oriented, which to a degree they are. There is potential for growth and change, but it needs to begin with a firm culture shock and sweeping of administration. LARC is totally behind the "times"...utilizing prehistoric processes and outdated views on how to best meet needs. LARC used to offer so much more in terms of quality experiences. If they can't keep up with industry standards they should just call it adult day care. Staff are grossly undertrained and ill supported. The workshop area is a joke. Many of the clients could work in the community and learn quality skills if it was implemented. There are many bare bones requirements that are not met. Passing the buck is second nature. The atmosphere is reactive. Always waiting for the worse to happen before addressing issues. LARC is more concerned with golf outings than staff training and improving the programs and resources. I sure hope they get it together for the populations served sake... On the plus, the clients seem to enjoy each other and and have good relationships with many of the staff in both residential and day programs. There are some strong employees, unfortunately much of that is overshadowed with the piss poor inner workings. The place just reeks of shady practices! Yes, all agencies that cater to people with developmental disabilities have issues, but this one has some SERIOUS ones. I was a fan, but not any longer. I'd recommend taking your loved one to another agency until they can get their priorities straight. Save yourself a headache.

We also walk him into his work area and see to it he is settled in with his supervisors. In doing so, we have had the pleasure of meeting the other clients, and the staff as well. We have also been able to consistently observe the overall work atmosphere. I have found the staff to be genuine in their desire to work with and serve the clients. The work appears to be appropriate to the client abilities and the clients all seem to be thriving on the work and activities provided. It is also evident that clients have a strong sense of security within their work environment. The staff has been diligent in getting to know my son and identifying his particular needs. They have also done a wonderful job meeting his needs. These are all qualities I looked for in a workshop atmosphere during my seeking period and I am thankful to have found them in LARC. Based on all these aspects, I give LARC 5 stars.

After he graduated from the program, we felt completely comfortable not continuing with therapy because of the level of care, support, and dedication he received from his teachers. They have helped him grow and learn everything he needed, and he has since developed a strong interest in math and all things science that the school offers. My youngest has been in the classroom for less than a year, and watching her development flourish has been incredible. The communication between parents and teachers is exceptional and has created such a strong relationship with the school. They stay in constant communication with us throughout the school day and even after school. I highly, highly, highly recommend this school to anyone looking for a place for their child--from infancy through 6 years old.

Nothing but love…read more Valpo taught me about life, love, myself, religion, the electric slide, roommates, oh...books...books too. Seriously, had a fantastic experience here. The community is warm, close-knit, and inviting; the professors are incredible; the Greek community is strong and has more depth than it probably does at bigger schools...I loved it. Also was able to get into a great law school after graduation.

Conference Review I…read morecame here for a conference in 2018. We were in the Harre Union, with some events in the chapel. The union was super shiny and seemed quite functional, and there was parking pretty close by. There was a reception one evening and the set up/bartending staff was very friendly. Dining hall was just ok, not a lot of options but what they had was good. Valparaiso as a city/town is pretty small, so nothing is really far away, which means that the university is fairly convenient to food/shopping/hotels. Wouldn't be excited to do another event here, but wouldn't be bummed either.
