LARC is an agency that supports adults with developmental disabilities. They have a day program (workshop) and residential cilas. They also offer respite services. Management is a complete and utter joke. The exec. director is all smoke and mirrors. The residential director is lost in translation. There's a director of supported employment, but there's no employment to support so...yeah. No one wants to take responsibility for anything. LARC is stagnant. They claim to be small and family oriented, which to a degree they are. There is potential for growth and change, but it needs to begin with a firm culture shock and sweeping of administration. LARC is totally behind the "times"...utilizing prehistoric processes and outdated views on how to best meet needs. LARC used to offer so much more in terms of quality experiences. If they can't keep up with industry standards they should just call it adult day care. Staff are grossly undertrained and ill supported. The workshop area is a joke. Many of the clients could work in the community and learn quality skills if it was implemented. There are many bare bones requirements that are not met. Passing the buck is second nature. The atmosphere is reactive. Always waiting for the worse to happen before addressing issues. LARC is more concerned with golf outings than staff training and improving the programs and resources. I sure hope they get it together for the populations served sake... On the plus, the clients seem to enjoy each other and and have good relationships with many of the staff in both residential and day programs. There are some strong employees, unfortunately much of that is overshadowed with the piss poor inner workings. The place just reeks of shady practices! Yes, all agencies that cater to people with developmental disabilities have issues, but this one has some SERIOUS ones. I was a fan, but not any longer. I'd recommend taking your loved one to another agency until they can get their priorities straight. Save yourself a headache. read more

My son has been a client at LARC for a year. My husband and I have chose to transport our son ourselves. We also walk him into his work area and see to it he is settled in with his supervisors. In doing so, we have had the pleasure of meeting the other clients, and the staff as well. We have also been able to consistently observe the overall work atmosphere. I have found the staff to be genuine in their desire to work with and serve the clients. The work appears to be appropriate to the client abilities and the clients all seem to be thriving on the work and activities provided. It is also evident that clients have a strong sense of security within their work environment. The staff has been diligent in getting to know my son and identifying his particular needs. They have also done a wonderful job meeting his needs. These are all qualities I looked for in a workshop atmosphere during my seeking period and I am thankful to have found them in LARC.
