Nothing amazing though in reference to other hotels I have stayed at on this trip. Note: the floors here as it is an old building do squeak a lot, while walking across your floor. We were attempting a late checkout as we did not have to be at our event until later. I attempted to negotiate a late checkout only to be told it is their policy that after Noon they will charge you 10GBP per hour after. No negotiating. I understand policy, but with foreign travellers,they should try. The hotel we were at last city, was very accommodating giving us a 3 pm checkout at no charge. And a much nicer hotel at that. It seems some of the staff are a bit uptight and non accommodating.

We have returned here many times, and each time we have been impressed by the standard of service and the quality of the facilities. However, the food in the hotel's restaurant has unfortunately been a bit hit and miss. Breakfast here is wonderful with a superb choice of dishes and excellent service (the variety of juices on offer is in itself impressive), but we've been less impressed with dinner on a couple of occasions - the execution doesn't quite live up to the expectation set by reading the menu. Don't let this put you off though - there are generally good deals to be had here for room, breakfast and dinner packages, and lots to do in the surrounding area.

I attended a wedding here…read more First when making the booking as per the wedding rate, they confirmed over the telephone, and confirmed different details by e-mail. I had to chase them to get the right details. When booking in, I said I would pay for both rooms. They required a credit card, which was fine, and then asked for another for the other room. I got them to finally understand I was paying for both rooms. I have no problem with hotels employing Eastern European staff, but those on the reception desk must have a good command of the English language. The room was OK, not brilliant, but OK. It is a 3 star after all. The en-suite was quite big, and designed for the disabled. Requested the use of an iron and ironing board, after three requests it finally arrived. The ironing board was stained, and it was only when I was using it to iron my sons new shirt that I realised that the stain was coming through onto the shirt. I was livid. I managed to disguise it as best as I could. Children can only eat in the restaurant before a certain time, and I think it was 5:30 pm, not absolutely sure of the time, but it was difficult for us. So we ate out. The arrangements for the wedding were very good, and the food was fine. Breakfast was something else. Waiting too long, and there was only three tables being used, so not rushed off their feet. One of the waitresses was sullen, and almost dropped the plate in front of you. They were less than attentive. It is not a hotel I'd choose to stay at if visiting Bournemouth again.

This is rather nice. Very very nice…read more I went to a 'do' here, and this is also used by a local school for Balls (as in dancing and wining). We had champagne on the frontsteps and patio. There is a sweeping driveway, which makes for great photo opportunities as the students arrive for their ball. The gardens are exquisite and the entrance to the hotel truly romantic. Except it's not the entrance. You have to drive to the back of the hotel on Grove Road. The 'front' of the hotel overlooks the sea. This hotel is very tasteful with out being overly grand. I'd love to stay there sometime.

Breakfast not included, but you can book, dining area for food throughout the day, Bar. Small free paking area. lovely twin bed, recently been painted to a high standard, smallish bathroom, but very nice. Tea/coffee in room, there should have been a tv, but there was not. Negative point was that the people in the above room seemed to pace up and down the room creaking their floor boards to the early hours. Not far from the BIC, was straightforward to locate

This area has many hotels so is easy enough to find. The hotel calls itself a boutique hotel however only the public areas seem boutique, the rooms are basic and mismatched and quite basic and lack finishing touches. My room also was minus a shower. However staff are friendly and it's very quiet I slept very well.

If its watered down drip coffee made from stale beans then you are probably staying at one of those chain hotels that care more about saving pennies than providing a quality experience. Expecting the run of the mill weak drip coffee I was pleasantly surprised by the full bodied quality coffee that was served with my full english breakfast and later the cappuccinos that the bar served. This may sound like coffee is more important than anything else, but it is the attention to the little things that make all the difference for me. The room was great, wonderful shower, great quilt, really friendly staff, including the hotel owners who were always on hand to advise or help with anything I needed. Plus, and this is a big plus for Bournemouth, plenty of parking! Cross the road, walk down the next short street and you're at the cliff top with a gentle walk down to the pier, promenade and gardens. This hotel is perfectly situated. I know where I'll be staying the next time I'm there.

When I entered it was a cosy double room with an ensuite and supposedly when the sun is up you can see the ocean and beautiful cliffs! Unfortunately as soon as I entered there was a power cut for the whole street so I couldn't see a thing.... I headed back down to the reception where the lights were flickering - I wish it had been Halloween that would've been so awesome! The staff apologised profusely, though it wasn't there fault! and moved me to a room that had lamps that weren't reliant on electricity. Lucky me, the room was amazing! I was moved to the four poster bed room, which was huge, the bed was comfortable and there was so much space. I absolutely felt like I could've stepped back in time, which I loved! The WiFi wasn't particularly strong in the room and came and went sporadically but that was ok. There were a few giant flies buzzing around the room which I had a bit of a war with (we both lost) but they seemed to have disappeared by morning. The shower was great, and the bed was comfortable, I had the best sleep I've had in ages! The bar and restaurant both have great menus depending on what you're in the mood for - something a little more fancy or something more casual. I opted for the casual and I have the say the baked potato was awesome! The breakfast in the morning has a reasonably good selection though if you have allergies (eg. can't eat gluten or lactose) there isn't a whole lot of options except for the fruit. Though the cooked breakfast menu looked great as well. Again, the staff went out of their way to make my stay more comfortable. It's a really lovely hotel. Overall it was a really great stay and I'd happily stay again.

It deserves all five stars as Yvonne and Ray, the owners, have accommodation to offer that is as good, if not better, than any 5* hotel. The rooms are very spacious, are full en-suite and spotless. Parking is safe and free and there is a free wifi internet service available. Situated in an exclusive avenue that leads to a cul de sac ensured that our sleep was undisturbed and as for the breakfasts - they exceeded all expectations in both choice and quality. This would be a good base to explore the Jurassic coast from, whether by bus or car. There is a steam railway to Swannage from where you can take an open topped bus tour to Bournemouth. There is excellent walking in all directions from the castle and there is good eating in the village. We will certainly return.
