Saturday they call me at 12:42pm, 4:32pm, and again at 5:30pm, leave two voicemails, and all on "Private number" Monday they call at 5:35pm and leave yet another voicemail. This time with a non private number. If they call me again, they're going to hear an earful. Worst of all, I didn't give them my email or make a login, so there's no profile to return to and change my phone number to some burner number. After spending more money to go on a single date in my life I was actually let down before any date was had. I started working with this company a few years ago because the dating apps are a joke and super gimmicky. In the beginning it was frustrating because I was working with a lady who seemed to just throw people together so dates were rough to say... After Lisa started working there communication has been a lot better and date quality has gone way up. It does take a little longer to get matched with someone, but that is because she is actually taking the time to find compatibility. I was with Portland Single's several years ago. I signed up in either 2013 or 2014. My experience was like most of the reviews. I was set up with men who were nothing like I had asked to meet. I had two dates with men who showed up wearing beat-up old clothes with no thought at all to grooming. One guy was chewing tobacco which was one of my deal breakers. Another one was 4 inches shorter than me. When I complained about the quality of men I was being matched with, I was basically told that Portland Single's accepts anyone with the money to pay the fee. It was disappointing and I felt like a fool for falling for their spiel. I am a decent looking woman with her shit together, a good job and willing to relocate if I met the right guy. They do not read your profile, or if they are reading your profile, they randomly set you up with individuals as they don't have adequate members to meet your profile. The amount of money paid into this program is not worth it's wait. They promise matches and you wait for months. You might be matched with somebody who likes the same type of food you do ... but they don't have a pot to p*** in. I'm not sure how they scraped up enough money to join. I met with Portland Singles after hearing about it from two different friends--one who had signed up with the service and another who was in negotiation stages. I was intrigued by the possibility of meeting higher caliber dating prospects, and saving valuable time by partnering with a matchmaker instead of spending hours on online dating apps. Because I have two friends that have been through the process, I know exactly what price they were quoted, and that the stated prices are very flexible. With that said, even the reduced rates are pretty high considering there are no guarantees that you'll even like the people you're set up with, much less find a match. But I was willing to invest with the hope of improving my dating pool. The salesperson went through her pitch and then made it to the pricing. She showed me the price list, and I countered that I was interested, but would be looking for a better deal. She asked me how much I wanted to spend, and I told her the exact figure that my two friends were quoted. Crickets. She didn't even try to negotiate with me. And, although I expressed interest, has not followed up since. Meanwhile, they've hounded my friend who is still considering their service. Now, I could be paranoid, but I had to ask myself why? And what I've concluded is that they charge different prices to different people based on how attractive or "dateable" they think they are. While most would consider me a very attractive woman, I'm heavier than both of my friends. What I walked away with it is that my friends were given a better offer because there are men that they can't find dates for, who they'd love to match them with, and being slender matters. I totally get that some people are easier to match than others. But charging different people different rates not based on their negotiation skills but rather how easily you can "sell" them just feels like bad business. And I left there feeling pretty shitty that they weren't interested in my business as a successful, smart, and attractive woman with some extra pounds on her. I've decided to just put more time into online dating and hopefully will find someone less shallow than Portland Singles' matchmakers. I have had a positive experience with Portland Singles. This is an honest review and I am not here to sugar coat anything. I wanted a company who vetted people, who performed background checks, and who could match me with another professional. I have worked very hard in my life, hold a medical license, have my Masters and I wanted a man who too was educated, preferably in the medical field, was a quality human being, and had children. The first date was not a match and felt quite random, so I wasn't happy at first. So I decided to ask for exactly what I wanted! They matched me with a wonderful man. We are still seeing each other over a year later and our two boys are the best friends in the world. I am so thankful for Portland Singles for matching me with him. He is one of the kindest people I have ever met and is a class act gentleman. He also is an Anesthesiologist, and (of random coincidence) we both work for the same organization! My words of advice are 1). If you sign up for this company- prepare to pay a lot of money. I knew if men were willing to pay that much, they clearly took meeting a quality woman seriously, so the risk was worth it to me. 2). Be willing to ask for exactly what you want but also bend on some of your ideals. This company does need guidance with matching you. Their questionnaire at the beginning is useless and I think they should do away with that. Unless it is done electronically, it is clear they probably just toss this document. It was an absurd questionnaire​ with 50 or more questions and made me cross-eyed​ by the end and wondering if I even reflected​ who I was in my answers. They have been attentive and were willing to work with me until I found my match. This really showed me professionalism and that it was important they would keep working for me until they found me a match. They can't​ control or promise​ chemistry but they can control effort. I have no idea how this place even manages 2 stars!! I suspect STRONGLY they had someone write a few good reviews on the sly. Ok, my brief story: I divorced my cheating husband about 4 years ago and tried to meet people the "normal way" through friends and family with little success. I also tried a couple of online sites. Unfortunately, I ended up with people who misrepresented themselves on a number of levels. I had given up for about a year when I came across Portland Singles online. Despite the very bad reviews and a gut feeling I was making a mistake I decided to go in to meet with them. I made an appointment and went in the meet with a woman who I think was named Marissa or something similar to that. Their office was nicely appointed and seemed professional. I was initially impressed, but that soon faded and then disappeared completely. I'll call the woman I met with Marissa because as I said, I don't remember her actual name. Marissa sat behind a desk with what looked like a fluffy down ski jacket on. Odd, because the office was far from cold. Anyway, she then started into an obviously "canned presentation". When I inquired about costs during her diatribe, she deflected my question and said we would "talk about it at the end". She then blew smoke up my butt about all Portland Singles had to offer and their success rate in creating lasting relationships. One other review mentioned that the lengthy questionnaire they require you to fill out was not even uploaded into a program to help find my or anyone else's compatible matches. They were correct. The matches are made by the people working there who on a whim will suggest this person or that person be matched with a particular person. There is absolutely no method other than that to match people with other people!! Then the cost: OMG!! $5,000 bucks and that's the basic plan. It goes up from there. I asked a lot of questions. There is absolutely no satisfaction guarantee of any kind and once you pay them your hard-earned money, they will not refund under any circumstances...PERIOD!!! That was all I needed to hear. I ran screaming from the building like my hair was on fire!!! This place presents itself as an upper class matching service. Nothing could be farther from the truth. They are charlatans who pray on lonely people and rake in the non-refundable dough!! DO NOT FALL FOR THE CRAP THESE PEOPLE SPEW!! I read the negative reviews, but didn't want to believe them. A combination of desperation, faith, and hope led me to believing the sales pitch and handing over $5,000. I was promised my dream guy and even shown pictures of attractive successful men who were said to be available. It was all a ruse because as soon as I joined, these eligible dream guys "couldn't be reached". But what about all those positive testimonials on their website, you might ask. After each introduction, you're asked to fill out a brief online survey of how the date went (which I'm not sure they actually review because there's never any follow up). The positive testimonies on their website aren't really from happy couples (emphasis on couples). It's a copy and paste from the one-sided review of the first date. "Jill was awesome; John was sweet" ... it's very misleading because the other side could have said no. Each of those testimonies did not result in a happy pairing. In the 8 months I've been a member, I've had to hound them to get 3 (disappointing) introductions which I was pressured into accepting. None of them met my baseline requirements (a bachelors degree, good job, no kids, and moderately good looking). None. Under their pressure, I've already lowered my expectations but they can't even find an introduction with those criteria. I thought that an expensive matchmaking service would attract successful people who want to outsource the messy business of finding a partner - like my reasons for joining. I was wrong. The guys who join are the un-datables. Either that or much older who are divorced or widowed and not sure how to date in the modern world. Here's another problem: the available pool is too small. They told me they have 2,000 members but it's very female heavy and old people heavy. Very very few in the 30-40 range. Every time I call them, my anxiety shoots through the roof because I'm constantly having to defend myself (why won't I date someone with kids, why won't I date someone who's over 10 years older than I am, why won't I date a "just give him a chance" socially clueless troll). My matchmaker uses pressure, hard sale tactics and is a very fast dominating talker. Our phone calls are not conversations. She's not a friend or alley - she's a pushy saleswoman. You shouldn't be scared trying to talk to someone you hired! Love is a tricky thing and in my core, I'm so disappointed this didn't work out. Every bad introduction or unfulfilled promise from my matchmaker was another slap that I've just wasted so much money. Save yourself the agony and heartbreak. read more

Don't do it. They take advantage of your heart, lie, and don't honor you. I'll be reporting to the Better Business Bureau. They told me they had lots of potential matches within my desired attributes... Was told they have plenty of professional, successful, attractive, nice men and that I would get matched quickly and probably wouldn't even need all 6 of the matches I ended up paying for... The lowest option they offer. I was also verbally asked not to disclose how much I paid to the men because they pay a higher rate. I paid $2k for this. I thought this will be great... I'm new in town and can have someone shop based on my interests, desires, and personality test results, plus they do background checks. The two "matches" I've had so far were a joke. They take one aspect of what I'm looking for in a match and focus solely on that while completing ignoring the aspects I'm trying to avoid or find undesirable. I'm an educated, attractive, fun, health conscious 35y.o. woman and was set up with a grandpa long-haul truck driver who likes goulash and Dennys and wanted a loyal woman to keep house for him. Then a man who claimed to be an engineer but didn't own a cell phone. Huh? Bonus that he was also balding with a ratty ponytail, 3" shorter than me, and was just 2 months off his 2nd divorce. He was nice but I felt like I was on a date with my dad or an uncle. It was just awkward. Both men spoke negatively of their ex-wives. Both men were completely oblivious to health. Both men said they were busy and it would be hard to date because I lived far away. Both lived more than 45min outside Portland! Phew, lucky me on that count. Oh, I should mention there was a 3rd "match" that the company credited me for because he was the complete list of my no items. He was a heavy smoker, barely as tall as my shoulders, I'm 5'9" which certainly isn't towering! And all the other things I'm not looking for. I found out shortly after this "match" that the lead matchmaker was no longer with the company, I had to call 4 times to get ahold of anyone before getting this info. And after I said I did not want to date a certain chiropractor she had mentioned, they sent that match over too, and I did not know this was the same person until I wasted my time meeting him and I knew right away this was a scam. If you are reading this, you like myself, are probably trying to find a service that can introduce you to a single, professional men/women, without going through the "online" dating thing. This company has proven to exploit me, be deceptive in the type of people they will set me up with, and misrepresent the services that would be provided. IF you get so far as to sign the contract, DO NOT trust what the representative promises you verbally. It will be held against you later. READ ALL of the agreement, do not just listen to the description of the agreement that the representative explains to you. Portland Singles misrepresents the services they will provide, exploits their customers to make numbers, practices deceit to enroll new members and has poor communication/customer services. I believe they prey, on the emotions, of people out there with hopes and dreams of finding the perfect mate. Promising they have just the person we are looking for. Then when they don't have that person within our criteria, they call current clients asking them to just go out with this person so they have a date, it won't count as one of your dates. I am glad that I wasn't coerced into taking "just a date" because they could say they did set me up (even though it wasn't someone within my criteria). Before I signed up I was given names and personal stories of potential suitors , all handsome, educated and wealthy. I had to call and ask what was going on about a week later and I was given a name of someone totally different , then weeks later I call again. At that time I was again given the name of someone totally different. That was 7 weeks ago and several calls by ME. Do NOT use this service. You will be ripped off and exploited. While I can't claim they met the legal standard for FRAUD, it sure feels that way. As a man, you will pay substantially more (2x-5x more) for the same service. The sales team members are good talkers, but the match-making team is a JOKE. They don't follow through, and if matches come through at all, they clearly don't fit with your preferences. If you ask how many people they serve, they'll tell you they have hundreds of potential matches... but when you slice that down to your age range and criteria, you might find they only have a couple of realistic matches. They misrepresent their service at every turn. Read the messages here and LISTEN to what people are saying. To my knowledge, other than identification, my qualifying information was never validated, so ladies... if you think your dates have been fully vetted, think again. I could have told them anything.
