We sent our 18 year old daughter to Pacia Salt Lake City as an 'aftercare' option post wilderness therapy. The organization is a scam. They invest just enough to fleece the parent (whom they refer to ironically as investors)- glossy marketing, sleek and modern housing for the young adult, excellent job at recruitment. The first few weeks were amazing- adult 'mentors' providing meaningful activities (skiing, rock climbing), life coaching sessions, academic advising for college. Then- nada. No program, no services. No help. NO PROFESSIONALS. Each family signs an ironclad 90 day contract ($35k) so Pacia seals the deal at signing with no consequence of an 'unhappy customer' from that moment forward. When I raised concern about my daughter's continued high risk behavior (failed drug screen for weed, alcohol use, not returning to apt at night), we got one 'tough love' session with threat of consequence if daughter couldn't 'get it together'- then absolutely zero follow through when she could not. I pleaded that we put together a plan with help from a licensed mental health professional, they agreed but then never followed through. What they do provide- young 20-30 something (likely underpaid) 'mentors' who are likely all well meaning and maybe mostly kind who do give pep talks, try to keep tabs on the young adults, and take them on errands. But they have essentially no training nor oversight from any professional. I did get two email from the 'owner'/director(?) in response to my numerous attempts to advocate greater support for my daughter- then eventually radio silence. I knew Pacia was not a treatment program but I did expect SOME programming. I was promised thus. In hindsight I was so foolish (note the lack of reviews anywhere) but - I know I am not the only desperate parent who got fleeced. I just hope I can save another from the experience.
