The 3 stars is for my personal experience, which may be unusual. I hope so. I was on the top floor…read morein a double room by myself; spacious, comfy bed, decently spacious bathroom, and there were beautiful tile decorations. However, during winter time, heater could not keep up with cold for the first 24 hours. Not sure if it could never keep up or if maybe the room next to me was occupied the next day and perhaps their heater and mine, combined, where able to insulate each other. Anyway, it got better after a day.
Towels available, tourist map available, front desk knowledgeable about tours, etc., but no community kitchen or refrigerator. WiFi was spotty; sometimes the front desk had to reset the router, and regardless, the WiFi was basically unavailable on the top floor. Speaking of which, there are no elevators, and there are four levels (ground + 3 floors). Be sure to call to ensure a lower floor if this matters to you.
Reception is 24/7. There is a small cafe area, but there's no bar or regular coffee service, and possibly because it was low season, there wasn't anyone around, and wasn't that social. Great if you want a more solitary and less rowdy hostel experience. Breakfast is included in the morning, and they serve a set plate of couple of slices ham, a couple of slices of cheese, a croissant-ish bread roll, and some jam/butter. There are bread rolls, coffee, water, cereal, milk, and tea laid out for you to self-serve.
In terms of decor, the hostel is beautifully decorated, and is one of the main positives of this place.
Bathroom: The fixture that holds the shower head high was broken so I had to hold the shower head in my hand, doing one-handed showering. The bathroom did not have its own heater and was on the other side of the room from the room's heater, so during the winter, when I visited, the bathroom was always chilly.
