I chose Harcourt Clinic because it was 10 mins walk from my work. Biggest mistake of my dental…read morelife. When I booked my appointment for dental hygiene over the phone I was lured by special offer for new Customers: €90 for check up and actual hygiene together. Do not believe it, this offer is a scam! I ended up paying €50 for check up and €85 for hygiene. Their excuse was check up and hygiene should have been done by the same doctor. Why did not you book me for the same doctor over the phone? I had no idea about the terms and conditions of your offer! Now, during the check up X Ray machine was not working, not even sure X ray was the real thing; and the dental hygiene took less than 30 minutes and was very basic. Imagine if you had dental hygiene 20 years ago, it was THAT basic! I had to pay €135 in total, the girl who took my booking over the phone was not in on the day of my appointment (how convenient) I had to go back twice to that Clinic cause no one returned my calls, and then Receptionist Irene rather rudely told me she could not trace the person who took my booking. How many people are minding the reception in this Clinic I wonder? So the whole experience was tragic and I am trying to be diplomatic here. Will I go back to Harcourt Clinic? Never in my life! Will I recommend it to my friends? Are you kidding? The only good thing about this Clinic is the location, the rest is abysmal.

One should pick your dentists using similar criteria to the way you pick counsel and positive…read moreword-of-mouth is a good starting point. After much procrastination, I decided to give in to both vanity and oral health and search around for a dentist. Such a search, as you likely know, is frustrating. Often, people will remark a dentist is good based on the experience at the routine exam or dental cleaning. I'd wager even a sadistic hack could perform a good dental cleaning, so such recommendations were irrelevant to me. More to the point, I didn't want to be pressured to embark on a dental tourist expedition. Being tempted with the thought of half-priced crowns, root-canals, and the like. No, I wanted to stay where my medical malpractice hammer is most effective. Phoenix Dental is a very clean and friendly establishment. The equipment appears to be quite modern. There's no dried blood on the walls or the ceiling and the staff are quite pleasant. I've visited this establishment four times in the past five weeks. While the procedure I'm embarking upon is mildly painful, it's tolerable to do two procedures per week. My first session was nice. The x-rays and examination was free. We went over a plan on what I wanted done and what was needed to be done. It was affordable and spread out throughout the year, so the economic bite does not hurt as bad. They put glasses on your face so bits of bone, chemical, and blood don't fly into your eyes, which are aimed at the ceiling where there's a flat screen television tuned in to music videos. The price of the procedures is fairly standard for Ireland. Not the cheapest, but definitely not the most dear. More importantly, the quality seems to be sound. A dentist in the west recommended the doctor here, as did a city centre surgeon who would of seen previous work from the doctors at this clinic. You can't get much better a referral than that!

Richard (Dentist) is a gentlemen, takes his time and explains everything well and most importantly made light work in the tooth extraction. From the moment I walked in the door I felt cared for and in good hands. Helen the receptionist is extremely helpful and overall Just a lovely person. Any appointments arranged were simple and often Helen would call be back to fit me in at a time even more convenient. Dr.Cahill himself was very thorough and explained the whole process in an easy and stress free way. I felt he really took his time to give me the right treatment and felt listened to. The dental nurse (whos name I did not catch) was also very lovely constantly checking I was ok and providing outstanding care. I would highly recommend anyone to use Dr.Cahill for any dental related procedures or check ups as I have never received medical care like it before. thanks to everyone at Dr.Cahill's !!

He was rude & condescending towards me, bordering on contemptuous, when I couldn't bite down with my front teeth aligning with the bottom teeth (I have an overbite which made it impossible.) Also I didn't like that he kept touching my belly during the x-ray to get me to stand up straighter as I hadn't given him permission to touch me there and he didn't ask. I left feeling disrespected. I called the office afterwards to give feedback about it, and his receptionist said he was not available to receive it. My advice is, find a nicer dentist.

Instead of concentrating on the job at hand I'm trying to remember the words to that poem from my youth "oh I wish I'd looked after my teeth..." My entire head felt like a huge spot about to burst and the tip.... the white bit that does the nasty exploding bit was somewhere on the bottom left of my jaw.. women might tell you that childbirth is a painful thing but to them I say, pashaw! ...and also, ouch. So, a long overdue appointment was applied for on the smiles.ie website... I heard nothing from them after 2 hours (not being overly patient) I called and no, they hadn't received my application. I made an appointment over the phone for the next day. I suspected I had a long list of ailments so asked for them to do an exam and work up a plan (which I shall be taking to the VHI dental people!). Yup... the list was loooong, including 2 root canals, lots of fun ahead but having met the dentist and gone through the 1st exam and treatment I am happy that (wait for it.....) ...that I'll be smiling in the end crap... did I really go for the cheap pun at the end?, yes, yes I did. It was the funny one :) I was waiting when I will feel pain but it was okay, and then I heard - 'It's done!' REALLY??? I couldn't believe, It was painless. Next time I will be less afraid doing my other 2 :) Just letting you know the next day I was laying down with the madest a headache and a toothache. The painkillers like 'Anadin' didn't help me, the stronger one was better.

I was getting my laser cleaning in the states and they also offer this service. From my understanding general dentists in Ireland do not offer this, so I was happy to find out she was up to speed on it. I will be going back for my cleanings and possibly orthodontics as they do it all here. The office itself was very nice and the décor was modern which made me feel like I was at a dentist back home in America. The only negative thing I will say about this place is they must have been running behind yesterday as I wasn't called back until 45 minutes after my appointment time.
