Dave is very, very personable! He's a really nice guy and uses a family setting and his experience as a parent to say things to get his subject to laugh or smile. It breaks the ice so they will become more relaxed and take better pictures. His expertise comes through as you watch him move lighting inside, test lighting outside, pose the subject inside and outside to get the perfect shots. He's very fun to work with and even carried his huge lighting equipment 3 blocks away, and back, to get different backgrounds for the casual photos. We offered to help him carry it but he would hear of it. He IS a talker, but that's just part of the business. It would be pretty awkward for the photographer to not have conversation. LOL. He was 30min behind while we waited; but he spent 2 hours with us. The digital camera review of the shots looked great! Even the ones he threw me and my hubby into. I know his graphic artist will make all the touchups and cool backdrops from the green screen look outstanding. Can't wait to see the final images!! read more

Dave spent a lot of time talking with me to understand what type of work I do and what I wanted from the photos. He also spent a lot of time getting the poses just right and capturing a lot of different shots so I would have a good selection. I'm not a big fan of having my picture taken, but, he put me at ease and walked us through selecting the best ones along with backgrounds that helped set the right mood. Highly recommend! read more

We had an outdoor photo session with my husband and two boys at Camp North End. Our boys are 7 and 4 with very short attention spans :) The most impressive part of our session was how good Dave was with our boys. Even when our youngest was refusing to cooperate, Dave was able to keep the boys happy and get them in the shot and smile beautifully and naturally. The outcome was amazing. You have never known either of them had a single meltdown. Great experience! At first, I wasn't too keen on the urban landscape for our pictures but they turned out amazing! I was extremely disappointed with the package options, the lack of communication in disclosing what I was signing and his rapport when we tried to resolve the issue was disgraceful!!! The value of his packages does not match what you're receiving. $300 and all I get is a PowerPoint of photos that can be taken from my digital camera and some 4x6 prints(one copy each) . The background options??? Unimpressed with walking blocks away for the "perfect background" of a brick wall in a local eatery area being exposed to coronavirus, cement steps in an apartment complex courtyard and leaning against someone's parked car. Went to review the photos and discussed options but said I would return with a final decision and to pickup prints. They took payment that night for the $400 package without our verbal consent. Called the next morning and was told too late, no refund, doesn't even know how to refund, prints already mailed out. LIES! Go to the studio per his request to resolve issue just to see the prints sitting there. I said I have a right to decline the packages he offered. I have paid for the session. He literally said I don't have that right and I should know better of what I am signing before doing so. He was completely condescending and rude! I refused to argue and said I would work it out with my bank. He said it doesn't matter. I already got your money. I did as I said and then several weeks later he tried mailing the prints I refused. Would you accept some prints for $400??? I am still working with my bank but this experience has been absolutely PAINFUL!!! Please research before booking appointment with this establishment or better yet...save yourself money and heartache. read more

Dave was amazing with our first set of photographs. He was great with our son during both sessions (we came back for 6 month photos). The first time around, I purchased a larger package without much hesitation. The second time, today, I wanted my husband to double check them. I didn't love them but was willing to buy if my husband did. It was THREE HUNDRED DOLLARS. When I said that, Dave FLIPPED. He went from happy go lucky to nasty, condescending, rude, and borderline irate. I couldn't get any signal in the building and it was just he and I. I was so nervous about leaving that I waited until the next appointment showed up so that people could witness whatever may happen. I ended with, "we're both frustrated so it may be best that I go..." He went on berating me and being nasty because I didn't want to spend 300 bucks on pictures I didn't love. He and I had this bickering session going on as I was leaving IN FRONT of these people. I strategically asked if someone else was coming in because I felt so uncomfortable during the entire exchange. He berated me and was condescending, pushy and overall a completely different person when I wanted to talk to my husband. I intended to buy the pictures, I just wanted to smooth it out with my husband. Before this, Id really liked Dave and wanted to support because the quality was great, I just didn't love the pictures. WE WILL NEVER EVERRRRR GO BACK! BEWARE! Don't go alone women. read more

The photographer worked really well with our 1 and 5 year old, which was key because they're a handful. He allowed us to take our time, which made for a very comfortable session. However the photographer did openly express some disdain when we did not decide to spent the amount he felt was appropriate. We've been getting family photos from Portrait Creations for 9 years now. Luckily we found them early enough to have beautiful maternity photos and we learned how to create our family timeline in photos from Dave and team. I'm so grateful we listened to his advice, we now have beautiful portraits of our family and children over the years that can never be recreated.
