You must have patience to visit this photography studio. I expected families with small children. I didn't expect a long wait, since I had an appointment. We went for a family portrait...a gift for my mother's 70th birthday. I was very pleased with the amount of photos taken and the end result. However, the entire process took nearly two hours, much of this time spent waiting for our turn at photos, choosing from proofs, etc. I think the prices are fair and I'm glad to have the entire process over. They're probably doing the best they can although I think additional staff on busy Saturdays may help! read more

I gave Portrait Innovations a try around Christmas time in 2011 and vowed never to return again. The place was a zoo, dirty, and we felt very rushed (did I mention I had a 3 week old with me)! The photos were also very expensive once you added on to the advertised deal. Fast forward to Easter 2012 and they had a great deal so I thought I would try again. I went during the week, about 3 weeks before Easter, and first thing in the morning. In and out, and only purchased the advertised package. In and out, no problems with some super cute pictures. Now, Easter 2015 and there is a great deal with a free canvas. Doing the math on the number of prints, I couldn't beat my normal deals at JCP Portraits, so I decide to give Portrait Innovations one more chance. I make an appointment for a Friday morning at 9:10. I get there and am surprised that I am the only customer there and couldn't be happier. We are a few minutes early, and there is only one staff member present. She gets the room ready while I get the kids out of their coats and get the props ready. I try to keep my 9 month old off the floor, but can't and sure enough, it doesn't appear to have been vacuumed in a while. He is shoving weird things in his mouth so I can't even set him down to get the props. Gross! Elizabeth, our photographer, was patient while we got the kids together, but after about 30 minutes of shooting (far longer than either kid has gone), I express that I think they are done. She tells me she has to get more pictures, that I can't view them until she has a certain number (despite my repeating this several times). By the end of the shoot, which lasted almost an hour, the kids were spent and cranky. It didn't take long to pick out the photos or print because it was still early in the day, but the prices were astronomical and I didn't like the minimum photo quantity when shooting children so young. In my opinion, if the parent is happy with some of the shots, let's wrap up and call it a day. By the time we were done, other staff had shown up and I felt the conversation wasn't appropriate for my 3-year-old daughter to hear. Late night shenanigans and personal time is fine and dandy, but I don't need to spend the rest of the afternoon cleverly explaining "drunk" and "partying" and other things to my kids. Took my niece for birthday photos. Got in right away, which was a plus. We were the only ones there but the session still felt rushed. The photographer seemed very inexperienced. They had trouble thinking of poses & backgrounds to use. Once they pulled up all of the photos on the computer, I had trouble choosing ones I liked because a lot of the pictures were dark or out of focus. I did manage to narrow it down to some cute ones. The first price quoted was over $600!! I told them I had no intention of spending more than $150. They helped me narrow down the poses to reach that price. I got my photos in less than 30 minutes which I liked. I got to the car and looked at the photos. I found that 2 of the shots were terrible! She had been holding a sign with her name on it. The photographer noticed that they had misspelled her name on the sign so they had to crop it out. However, instead of cropping out the entire sign they cropped out half of it...so you could still see her holding the top of the sign. It looked terrible. I went back in and had them redo those shots and crop out the sign all together. It seemed like something that should have been common sense. I took a photo of my niece in front of my house before we went to her photo shoot. The photo I took with my Iphone was better than any of her portraits. I won't go back. I'd rather pay more & hire a photographer. read more

Terrible place to go. Rude and inexperienced staff member who treated my child with special needs in a manor I had never expected or experience before. My expectations of this type of studio were not supper high but I did expect to be treated with kindness and respect. And I thought they could get some simple pictures of the kids. Nothing special or over the top. Had an appointment and had to wait but that is almost to be expected. Explained to the staff that my child is Autistic and "eye contact would be difficult to get so just take some pics". Gal taking pics could not understand and proceeded to get upset (angry) with the situation. She made rude comments about the children. I don't think she smiled once for the entire time we were in the photo shoot. She walked away to get the phone or take care of other task during the process of trying to take pictures and did not even excuse herself or tell us she would be right back. She just walked away! She did not even want to show me the few pics that she did take. I left the store with out seeing the pictures and do not even care to ever go back to this place. I don't even want them at this point, I don't need a picture to remind me of the bad experience there. read more

Okay, so the previous reviews were absolutely accurate regarding the wait time, overbooking, etc. We anticipated that from reading the earlier comments posted here. But that isn't what, in my opinion, merits the low rating. What has me steamed is this places copyright policy. We took our grandson here to get some Christmas pictures. After enduring the hour long wait (yes, we had an appointment- they were just running way behind), and dealing with the endless selections we settled on a $300 package. Included in that package was a CD with all of the images. When we returned to pick up the pictures later in the day we discovered that many were exceptionally dark. The place was a zoo so we decided that I'd we wanted more/different prints we could simply print them. My wife asked about that and was told that the clerk would put the instructions in with our order. Those "instructions" turned out to be the corporate copyright policies. Basically put, you don't own your images, they do. If you want to use a picture for, lets say a birthday cake, you must secure permission from them in writing! Bottom line- don't bother with this place. Go to JC Penny instead. Prices are about the same, MUCH more organized, much better quality and YOU OWN YOUR PICTURES! read more

An absolute disaster. Unprofessional and overbooked. We have used numerous studios in the past and always have great experiences. We always go to new studios so that we can get different styles and photo techniques so we never get board with our prints. We decided to try portrait innovations because of the deal they had going on at the time. BIG MISTAKE!! We made our appointment 3 weeks in advance for a saturday morning shoot. It was my husband and myself and three children family picture package. When we arrived the lobby was packed with all manner of chaos. We stood in line waiting for our appointment and the receptionist disapears for 45 mins. She then states that we are 30 mins late for our appointment. I am absolutly livid with anger at this point and exclaim that we have been standing in this line waiting for 45 mins. She points to a clip board that she has sitting behind the desk that says we needed to sign in here while receptionist is away. She then says that she needs to let other family's ahead of us because they are running behind and the wait will be around 3 hours. I of course say that is unacceptable and I want a refund since we pre paid our package. She says that they do not give refunds for cancellations on the day of. We waited 2 hours and they suddenly have an opening. Our photographer looked like clueless college student. He reaked of Marijuana and spent another 10 mins talking with his buddy about some vulger subject and how much beer they had drank the night before. Photographer then gives us a fake smile and keeps giggling. Photoshoot takes another 2 hours by which time everyone was completely grumpy and upset. Photgrapher then says he can't finish because our family simply isn't cooperating. That was the last straw. We immediately request the supervisor who says that "they can't work miricles and make good photos if our kids won't allow it". I exclaim that we have been there for over 4 hours and it has been a disaster. Manager gives us a half apology but that we are lucky to even be there because of the amount of business they do and that there was nothing they could do, no refunds, and that they would have to add on a $40 surcharge being late to our appointment even though it wasn't our fault. STORE POLICY!!! Not only that but we later find out they tried to charge our card for $244.50, with a note that says "extra pictures" even though we actually received less than our package said was included. Pictures themselves were generic, dull, fuzzy, and like something we could have done on our own. DO NOT use these guys whatsoever, they are thieves, liars, and cons. Many more alternatives. It's amazing that they even exist. We also filed a credit card chargeback for everything. Visa later opens a case saying the $244.50, and $40 were unauthorized transactions and would be refunded. read more

We went to PI for newborn pictures of my granddaughter in December 2015. They were phenomenal. The baby had no interest in the event and they were so partient with her. I'm so thankful I decided to give them a try anyways after the bad reviews I've seen here. Our photographer, Thomas, was so helpful and got some really great shots. read more

This place was absolutely awful. The male supervisor was extremely rude and had snot dripping down his face. We waited for over an hour and was told there were still 7-10 customers, maybe more, in front of us. The waiting area was foul smelling as if they had not cleaned their carpet in years and they had a dirty diaper rotting under one of the chairs. They do not even deserve the one star that I gave them- they were telling people that walked in that they were running about 20 min behind but in actuality it was over an hour. Just wanted a simple family photo with my husband and two little boys but I could not get. I work in customer service and thus was truly the worst treatment ever. Please do not go here ! read more

I had scheduled for a family Christmas photo. It was my daughter and her two children, ages 6 and 1. We were supposed to be the last appointment. I got there 40 minutes early with my grandchildren, and my daughter was en route. I was repeatedly asked when my daughter was arriving to the point I called her. She got to the studio 20 minutes before our appointment, as requested by the staff. Then, we sat and waited before we were called for the portrait. The photographer was blonde and heavy set. He was ridiculously inpatient. He told us that the background we wanted was being used, so he gave us another one that was so-so. He was terribly inpatient with my 1 yr old grandson, never used a prop or anything to engage the baby. I asked about props and he said we could use them, but didn't offer to get them. I got the props. He told my family to sit on the floor (which he did for ALL the photos, despite an available bench). He ended up taking pictures with my grandson's fingers in his mouth, vs. trying to use anything to get the child to smile. The photographer only took a few photos, then said we were finished. We waited 30 minutes to see photos, while another woman reamed out the same photographer on the price of her photo package and rushing her through the photography session. What happened was several more families arrived and people were being rushed through their photos. We ended up leaving, because we never even got to see our photos despite waiting 30 minutes to just see the pictures. Worst service ever. We walked out. read more

This place really doesn't deserve a single star. While the store was obviously busy, their employees are impatient and a waste when it comes to personality, not to mention sales or customer service. The pictures were mediocre at best. The photographer kept our exhausted children in uncomfortable poses for long periods of time, then huffed and puffed when they couldn't manage to pay attention or smile at her. The salesmen who showed us our finished products was the real problem. To start he told my sister, who was holding her child to get out of the chair she was sitting in because he wanted it. Not asked...told. Then he yelled at me after I pressed him for a price. Told me I was being disrespectful to him because I was not helping his sale. We spoke to the manager and of course, he was apologetic but it was pretty clear he was more interested in moving past the incident and going back to work. Our appointment was at 11:30, we didn't walk out until 2:30. $70 dollars is pretty steep for two lousy poses. If we hadn't put so much effort into preparations and the experience its self we would have walked out. Don't waste your time or money with this big company and go with an independent photographer. read more

Was there today due to a special Holiday package of 14.99. Our appointment time was 4:10 and we did not get pictures taken until5:20. They were busy at first but then it slowly cleared out. The issue was that 2 of the 3 photographers left to go to lunch together when they were obviously overbooked. The staff there could have cared less that customers ere waiting for such long periods of time. Then, during the viewing of the pictures, the photographer said we had to purchase more than the 14.99 package. Stated that was a bonus when added to another package. This is actually not correct and is an up-sale tactic. The coupon clearly said no other purchases were required. I stood my ground and walked out with decent pictures for $14.99. Next time, I will skip the hassle and just go to JC Penny! read more

Very upset over service. Went to the store to make appointments rather than call because I was planning on having pictures made for several children from different families. Their parents confirmed appointments and that I would be bringing them to have their pictures taken. Having 3 young children dressed, happy and on time for 9am appointments is a challenge by itself. We arrived and after waiting for 20 minutes were told that we would not be allowed to have the 3 children done as separate appointments when though I had the cards issued by the store. The reason? I was the only adult and therefore we were being treated as 1 family and not 3 as explained. I spoke with the manager and explained that I was simply the transport for the children and that they were not mine. She explained that since I brought them in my car, they were 1 family. What??? I asked if I needed to get 2 more adults from off the sidewalk to make the number of adults and children even..... she stated that because we rode in the same car we were 1 family. Are you kidding me??? Would not return after being treated so badly. Besides, having a 9am appointment meant nothing.. there were a least 20 families already there and in line waiting... and we had the first appointments of the day according to the clerk that scheduled them. read more
