And I am not kidding about the number of times I traveled by Bus (and even more times than I listed above if you count the Trailways Bus Lines, plus Megabus, BoltBus, Lux Bus America, Vamoose, and RedCoach. Founded in 1914, Greyhound Lines, Inc. is the largest provider of intercity bus transportation, serving 2400 destinations across North America with a modern, environmentally friendly fleet. It has become an American icon, providing safe, enjoyable and affordable travel to nearly 16 million passengers each year in the United States and Canada. The Greyhound running dog is one of the most-recognized brands in the world. Greyhound is now the biggest bus company out of all of them, at least in the United States. They cover all states except Alaska and Hawaii, which both have their own State initiated long-haul bus services. Amenities on all Greyhound bus routes include Wi-Fi, power outlets, restrooms, air conditioning, and reclining seats; with some bus routes including video monitors for movies and tourism/travel videos. In 1987 Greyhound Lines came under new ownership. (To clarify) My daughter was suspended for a day because the bus driver saw her leave an empty water bottle on the bus, which she went back and picked up when he made her aware of it. But when she returned after her suspension, she rode the bus to school in the morning, but was made to exit the bus on the ride home after school. The reason she was given for being asked to leave the bus was that she was suspended indefinitely until her parents contacted the bus company, which I was not aware of. I spoke to the owner. She didn't see anything wrong with what the bus driver did. As it turns out, the bus driver is her son.

When it was 8:30, I called back and was told the driver got stuck on the tollway (apparently she was actually struck by a car) and would be get another 5-10 minutes. 15 minutes later, at 8:45, a bus finally showed up at the Int'l terminal, but is now picking up from the rest of the airport. Of course half the people didn't/don't have their tickets (or don't know how to pull up on their phones) so he and the ticket woman had to do all that; then sit at the last pickup point until 9:15, but they are still trying to get all the tickets out of people. By the time we get out of here and on the road, we won't arrive at my station after 10PM, and I still have to get a ride from there. They really should have some kind of announcement system and backup plan available. I'm exhausted and this is just the last thing I needed. I will have spent 3 hours at the airport because of this added to the usual international arrival rigamarole. At least the driver and ticket lady could have been friendly and apologetic, but they are being neither. Have yet to hear any kind of apology or explanation. Not okay. We are finally leaving the airport. It is 9:22PM. For a 7:50 scheduled pickup. I am not a happy camper.

Our tour guide was a retired high school history teacher and football coach with all sorts of interesting stories about the region. We passed Mount Baldy, the "living" sand dune that moves, at Indiana Dunes National Park and made it all the way down to a good view of the Century of Progress homes before making our way back. We also got to hear all about the ship, the Emita II, which is a historic ship from the 1950s, and about how it reached its current home. It was also very cute that Captain Jan had the kids come up and take turns at the wheel on the way back. There is a snack bar on the lower level of the boat, and there are restrooms on board. Free parking is available a little walk away - walk towards the Lighthouse Museum, as the dock is behind there. Definitely a great adventure!
