Worst. Bus service. EVER. Would have given negative stars if possible. One star is the lowest and way too generous. Totally unreliable.

Bus 325 was speeding and weaving in traffic at 8:25 am on Ridge Road in Evanston. Won't trust this company with my children's safety.

And I am not kidding about the number of times I traveled by Bus (and even more times than I listed above if you count the Trailways Bus Lines, plus Megabus, BoltBus, Lux Bus America, Vamoose, and RedCoach. Founded in 1914, Greyhound Lines, Inc. is the largest provider of intercity bus transportation, serving 2400 destinations across North America with a modern, environmentally friendly fleet. It has become an American icon, providing safe, enjoyable and affordable travel to nearly 16 million passengers each year in the United States and Canada. The Greyhound running dog is one of the most-recognized brands in the world. Greyhound is now the biggest bus company out of all of them, at least in the United States. They cover all states except Alaska and Hawaii, which both have their own State initiated long-haul bus services. Amenities on all Greyhound bus routes include Wi-Fi, power outlets, restrooms, air conditioning, and reclining seats; with some bus routes including video monitors for movies and tourism/travel videos. In 1987 Greyhound Lines came under new ownership. Greyhound Lines later acquired the former Continental Trailways company, the largest member of the Trailways system, effectively eliminating a large portion of Greyhound's bus competition, which included the other Main bus companies in the US, such as Megabus, BoltBus, Lux Bus America, Vamoose, and RedCoach. COVID-19 caused a 95 percent drop in ridership. Thus, Greyhound reduced service on March 25, 2020 and suspended six routes on April 5, 2020. On May 6, 2020, Greyhound Canada announced it would permanently shut down all its remaining bus services which it did on May 13, 2021. One of the reasons that I traveled so often on Greyhound's Bus Lines is because Greyhound offered Weekly, Monthly, Bi-Monthly and Tri-Monthly Bus-Passes at a substantial discount. This allowed me to actually "Travel" and even Tour different parts of North America including most of southern and central Canada, Northern Mexico, and nearly every State in the United States. This was a Great way for me to travel... at least when I was younger.

The driver seemed very grumpy and was telling US to hurry and get loaded after several of us had been waiting since before 7:45 for what was SUPPOSED to be a 7:50PM pickup. This is Saturday night, not weekday rush hour, btw. I called the office twice; was first told the driver was 20 minutes late. When it was 8:30, I called back and was told the driver got stuck on the tollway (apparently she was actually struck by a car) and would be get another 5-10 minutes. 15 minutes later, at 8:45, a bus finally showed up at the Int'l terminal, but is now picking up from the rest of the airport. Of course half the people didn't/don't have their tickets (or don't know how to pull up on their phones) so he and the ticket woman had to do all that; then sit at the last pickup point until 9:15, but they are still trying to get all the tickets out of people. By the time we get out of here and on the road, we won't arrive at my station after 10PM, and I still have to get a ride from there. They really should have some kind of announcement system and backup plan available. I'm exhausted and this is just the last thing I needed. I will have spent 3 hours at the airport because of this added to the usual international arrival rigamarole. At least the driver and ticket lady could have been friendly and apologetic, but they are being neither. Have yet to hear any kind of apology or explanation. Not okay. We are finally leaving the airport. It is 9:22PM. For a 7:50 scheduled pickup. I am not a happy camper.

When the next bus came an hour later the driver confirmed that the last bus had simply skipped our stop because they were running behind. I nearly missed my flight due to this. Our tour guide was a retired high school history teacher and football coach with all sorts of interesting stories about the region. We passed Mount Baldy, the "living" sand dune that moves, at Indiana Dunes National Park and made it all the way down to a good view of the Century of Progress homes before making our way back. We also got to hear all about the ship, the Emita II, which is a historic ship from the 1950s, and about how it reached its current home. It was also very cute that Captain Jan had the kids come up and take turns at the wheel on the way back. There is a snack bar on the lower level of the boat, and there are restrooms on board. Free parking is available a little walk away - walk towards the Lighthouse Museum, as the dock is behind there. Definitely a great adventure!
