I stopped by Posman Books when I visiting Boston earlier this week for work. I've been to a Posman before in Atlanta and thought it might fun to visit this location when I was in town for a couple of nights. It's definitely on the smaller side and it's located in the basement level. But it's bright and open and had great light from those front windows. It's well stocked with books of all kinds and gifts and other tchotchkes, too. It's a charming little shop. If you're a reader, you're bound to find something to take home with you. read more

Ok... so hear me out. I came in on my last day at home in Boston. I wanted to get to at least 1 Independent bookstore while I was there and the famous one in Beacon Hill was closed on Mondays so off to Yelp I went to find another in the vicinity. This one was closing in 15 minutes so I drove like a bat outta hell and got there in time to walk in and overhear Caroline (one of the booksellers) discussing some options to a patron. Confession time... I LOVE eavesdropping on book conversations (it's the bibliophile in me) anyhoo very cute bookstore. They also have stationary, bibliophile gift items, literary candles, a kids section and extensive offerings of the Penguin classics deluxe editions new covers. Oh yea they also have a small "Blind Date with a Book" shelf too! I will tell you this though - when they say they are closing they are CLOSING they give multiple gentle warnings before the voice becomes sterner in their guidance for you to wrap it up and make your purchases. I wasn't offended and pushed out I know what it feels like to want to get out of work. Next time I'll come with ample time and post more recent photos. Respectfully Reviewed. read more

Wasn't expecting this bookstore to be as diverse as it was, but wow! They had all the classics as well as newer releases. I came in looking for a specific poetry book and they had it! They have tons of journaling materials, fun DIYs, notebooks, trinkets, etc as well. Perfect to take students to for the new year. Prices were fair, not huge on discounts but to be expected for a Newbury St shop. Service was kind and helpful, and my book came with a free bookmark! read more

Great atmosphere and friendly staff. I even had a suggestion for one of their review cards to be more factual and inline with the authors values. They really heard me and took me seriously. They're open to learning and that's what reading is all about. I can proudly say this is a Queer Friendly space. 100% recommend for book shopping in Boston. read more

The selection of Jelly Cats was fantastic and we found sad rat who we've searched for all over. Usually when I buy wrapping paper I expect to pay say 50$-60$ for one or two little strips of paper. Posman managed to find a roll that came with not one, not two, but THREE little pieces of paper for the cheap price of only $11. Enough to wrap maybe three candles or one box. Can't believe brick and mortar is surging back with such a vengeance. Never will I seek value on the internet again where Amazon sells full rolls for just dollars. The whole experience definitely did not leave me wanting to swallow the barrel of a gun. Also great customer service. read more

Cozy bookstore with more variety than it initially appears. Weezer playing overhead, brightly colored walls, and enough books and accessories to keep those perusing busy for quite some time. I like book stores like this that have what you'd expect, but also books and items you wouldn't expect. Probably a few too many "woke" titles than necessary, but no bookstore is perfect. Even with the so-called "Digital Revolution," nothing beats a book in print. Definitely a place to which I'll return. read more

Hip pop-culture influences and not stuffy at all. It's a great addition to Boston and Newbury street. Very much leans toward trade paperbacks vs hardcovers. read more

a cute bookstore that's highly curated right on newbury street! i love how the tables are organized by genre (nonfiction to the back, if you're curious) and there's loads of little trinkets that are bookish-adjacent or trendy you can buy along with a book off your TBR. this is also one of the places in boston where you can buy sonny angels and trade! posman gets really busy and crowded, partially to its location on newbury but also it's a very tiny, cramped store. i highly recommend going during undesirable times if you want to spend more time browsing. read more

A bright bookstore that fits in with the boutique-style while still keeping the literary nook vibe. The front displays are fun, curated for theme and cuteness. The few steps leading in and all the color bursting everywhere set up a sweet skip down into a little wonderland. There were few labels on the shelves, with center tables covered in covers. Being a smaller store, wandering around seeing what pops is where it's at. The assortment of gifts, stationery, and games add flair while the focus is still on the books. Lovely and fun! read more

I walked in looking to purchase some gifts for my one year old nephews upcoming birthday. I found multiple items I wanted to purchase and asked if I could leave them on the counter while I kept looking. The girl behind the register told me no in a very rude way and told me she needed the space for herself. I continued looking even though I probably should have just walked out. Another girl working, named Kate walked up to me and offered to hold my stuff for me. She was very kind and helpful. When I was ready to check out, I went up to the counter where the rude employee was and she ignored me and did not check me out or ask to take the few other items I had picked up to purchase. Kate came from the back room and checked me out and was having trouble with holding everything and scanning and the other girl was standing right next to her and didn't offer her assistance so I assisted Kate when the scanner. I normally don't write reviews but I'm a tired mom who appreciates the kindness Kate showed me. Hire more people like Kate :) read more

I give it 5 stars because they maximize their small space in a way that you can surely find a high quality book to buy when looking for something to read. It is not a 5 star bookstore in the sense they have every title by every author; the place is small. But what most impressed was they checked a new title and referred me to a bookstore down the street that had it. How many businesses do that? read more

The storefront drew me in and that was probably the best part of the store. The childrens selection was veryyyy meh, kind of disappointing. The music was also SO loud in here I couldn't focus on reading the descriptions. It was also very expensive. Will stick to amazon. read more

Cute and cozy bookstore that recently opened in Newbury St. As a lover a bookstores this is a great addition to the area. While Trident has food and is probably larger, I enjoy that Posman is a much quieter place were you can browse in peace (and socially distanced!). They have a good selection of books, cards, and accessories that would make great gifts for friends or for yourself. read more

Holy mother of RUDE! Wow, the retail associates in this place are at an astronomical level of not only not caring, but being actually mean. I am visiting Boston with my family for a potential move and the store front looked so cute we had to go in! I don't want to discredit the design and product in this store, it really is adorable and very thought through with a wonderful selection, but the staff is a huge problem and made it so that nobody in my party bought a thing even though we wanted to. I had a girl who worked there shoulder bump me to get by very aggressively, and when I apologized she literally glared at me as if I had offended her in some way, and did not acknowledge my speaking to her at all. Then I had to ask a nonbinary employee for the price on an item and wow. What an unkind individual. They actively rolled their eyes at me before very rudely shouting the price at me. Ruined the experience. I am a 21 year old woman & I don't often let stuff like this get under my skin enough to write a review, but this interaction really hurt my feelings and makes me want to find a different bookstore. read more
