Even though they've only been open for about a year, they're already making a strong impact in the community. The space itself is cozy and welcoming, and it's more than just a bookstore. They sell merch, host a matcha pop-up called "The Matcha Edit" every Tuesday and Thursday (which is amazing), and even organize invite-only social networking events--definitely worth following them on social media so you can get on the list. Customer service here is top-notch. The owner is incredibly knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about both books and the community he's building. He really compliments the overall vibe of the place. This bookstore is truly becoming a staple in the Liberty City community. On the left side is an entrance to one side of the bookstore and on the right side is another entrance to the other side of the bookstore. Super organized with tall shelves of books, books and more books!!! f you walk past the bar outside and pass the outdoor patio area, there is another entrance in the middle to the indoor cafe with more seating. The indoor cafe entrance also connects to the bookstore inside too. We stopped by here during the day when we were walking around Coral Gables grabbing lunch and checking out the local museums. But we didn't have time to browse so we came back at night after dinner. At night, there's a bar/lounge vibe which is cool. They also had live music when we were there on a Saturday night. Beautiful bookstore set up and organization. They sell cute gift items too and the kids section is great! It is about their favorite hotel in the South of France and Martine wrote the text and Prosper took the photographs. Their first collection of books focusing on designers and fashion, the Memoire collection was released in 1996. In 2003 Assouline opened in a corner of Bergdorf Goodmans and in 2006 they opened the first standalone boutique in Paris in 2006. Since their first book Assouline has published 1,700 titles in three main collections along with with special editions. Subjects include architecture, art, design, fashion, gastronomy, lifestyle, photography, and travel.In 2010 Assouline began designing, producing, and selling furniture along with accessories, luxury gifts, and library accessories. They also offer a design service which creates libraries for individual clients homes and hotels. Books run in the hundreds of dollars. There are white gloves available if you want to touch them. This store has the usual categories for museum gift shops, like jewelry, gifts and children's toys, but there were also some more offbeat categories like dog toys and clever housewares that really make the assortment stand out. They also serve coffee and I think some light bites here, so there are some tables set up to enjoy that. The girl at the counter was super- nice too- it just felt like a really cool place to hang and discover neat stuff. If visiting the Wolfsonian, I would 100% recommend capping off your visit here. Opened to the public in 1995, the Wolfsonian was created by millionaire Mitchell "Micky" Wolfson, Jr., a Miami Beach native and collector and expert on modern design, architecture, and the decorative arts. He began acquiring much of what makes up the collection in the 1970's and he stored it at the Washington Storage Company facility on Washington Avenue in Miami Beach which is a building from 1926. By 1986, 90% of the building housed his collection so he bought the building and established The Wolfsonian Foundation in order to preserve the collection and make it available for research. In 1992 architect Mark Hampton to expanded and renovated the Washington Storage Company building, converting it into a museum and research center. Hampton and architect architect William Kearns created a modernist lobby, museum café and shop. Upstairs are permanent and temporary galleries along with a library, offices, and storage. The museum is one of seven campuses of F.I.U. University. The gift shop for the museum is a very unique and elegant space. Displayed on a beautiful 1915 shelving system by Snead & Co, the Design Store sells a carefully curated collection of design inspired travel accessories, stationary, bath items, household goods, watches, jewelry, clocks, toys, and books that include award-winning Wolfsonian publications. I loved the cat yoga magnets, children's toy flamingo, and book, and note cards. The is the perfect place to find a unique gift for someone or something for yourself. The Cafe is a brand new addition to the museum and it serves ethically sourced coffee, drinks, cake, and pastries The Wolfsonian partnered with the Nandan Estate, an organic farm in the hills south of Nilgiri, at 4000 feet in Tamil Nadu, India. The coffee picks up the flavors of the cardamom, black pepper, chill and orange from the trees also grown on the farm. The café at the Design Museum is their second espresso bar to open. ,A museum entrance ticket entitles you to a ten percent discount at the cafe. You don't have to pay a museum admission to visit the Wolfsonian Design Store + Cafe. There is a separate entrance on Washington or you can enter from inside the museum. This summer is the perfect time to discover the Design Store + Cafe because the ground floor of the museum is free all summer as the upper floors of the museum are renovated and closed to the public.
