If you are Danish, Postgaarden needs no further introduction. For foreigners, the restaurant was a central part of a 40 year old TV series "Matador" about a small Danish town, Korsbæk, from 1929-47.
The interior is really neatly done, capturing well what Postgaarden looked like on screen. We even met one of the characters (Colonel Hackel) who went to the tables and talked to the guests. Really fun.
We went for smørrebrød, which was delicious. Service was pleasant, but surprisingly inattentive, despite having dozens of people. Second piece of smørrebrød came 15 minutes after the first, no apology, though it was clearly an error.
Bakken has always suffered from lack of good restaurants. And that's exactly what Postgaarden is, so people - Matador fans or not - who are looking for a nice restaurant here will not be disappointed. read more
