We knew immediately we weren't the only ones with that idea. The place was busy, with a line of people putting their names down for a table. It definitely has that destination-restaurant energy. Once we were seated, we ordered several things to share. We tried a mix of fried bites, including croquetas, shrimp, and stuffed squash blossoms. The croquetas were crisp and rich, and the squash blossoms were one of the more interesting things on the table. We also ordered pizza. The crust had a nice char and chew, and the toppings were generous. I enjoyed it, although a couple of my coworkers were a little less enthusiastic. For me, the smaller plates stood out more. The room was lively, and the mix of vintage plates, copper-toned tables, and simple details gave the space a lot of personality. I also liked how naturally the menu lent itself to passing plates around and trying a little of everything. I'm glad we checked it out, especially because Lardo comes up often when people talk about eating in Mexico City. I'd happily come back and explore more of the smaller plates.

They had a pretty good crowd, that's when I noticed it was a churro shop and it was called El Moro. During my weeklong trip to Mexico City I ended up visiting this shop multiple times during all different times of the day and evening. This business I found out later has multiple locations and is one of the most famous churro shops in all of Mexico City. I really enjoyed them so much-their churros are made fresh all day I liked that this location was super clean and had plenty of tables to sit to enjoy your freshly made churros and coffee drinks. Speaking of coffee drinks, they have excellent coffee as many a mornings on this trip started with coffee from El Moro. Their churros are very inexpensive as they run about 16 pesos($0.95 USD) each.So we always grabbed a few every visit. The churros had a really good size to them and were just doused in cinnamon and sugar-they tasted perfect both sweetness level and texture-wise. I generally always ordered Americanos which ran 55 pesos($3.25 USD) Not the best value in the world but good enough/they matched up well with the fresh churros. Overall I would highly recommend stopping by El Moro if you run across one of them on your travels to Mexico City-I really enjoyed them and look forward to visiting them again on future visits to Mexico City.

The pastries and service were delicious. While they do not have indoor seating, it was very pleasant to sit outside on the sidewalk and people-watch. We tried three different pastries: a plantain pudding pastry, a fruity meringue pastry, and a very unique peanut butter and chapulines cruffin. All were excellent. My only piece of constructive feedback is regarding the payment process. We had to pay for the pastries separately from the coffee, which made the experience less smooth. It would be much more convenient if everything could be paid for on a single check. Overall, it was a wonderful spot!

The service was attentive and friendly--occasionally a little slow, but that's part of the relaxed rhythm of being in Mexico. The outdoor seating is charming, surrounded by greenery and decorated with natural plants, which creates such a pleasant atmosphere to start the day. I especially enjoyed the Betty juice made with beets--it was fresh, vibrant, and absolutely delicious. The pastry selection feels endless, unlike anything I've experienced elsewhere in Mexico. During our visit, they were offering pan de muerto for Día de los Muertos, with a creative twist: a rich chocolate filling. It was outstanding! Overall, my friends and I had a wonderful experience here--delicious food, a beautiful setting, and a bakery that truly makes you want to come back again and again.
