If you love cacao drinks this is the place for you! They take so much care and pride in their drinks. You can choose your drink based on the percentage of cacao, the sweetness and whether you want it mixed with almond milk, regular milk or water. And of course you can decide to drink it hot or cold. We can here once on a cacao walking tour and got to observe how they made the drinks using some essential cacao making tools and some wrist action to mix the drink to a frothy texture. We tried our hand at it and failed miserably lol.

This is a perfect afternoon pick me up when you don't want coffee La Rifa is a sustainable and mission driven Chocolatería in the heart of Mexico City not far off from el Angel and la Reforma. I had a delicious traditional Mexican hot chocolate (amargos con leche) plus a tiny and tasty chocolate covered purerquito to dip in my drink. I also bought a beautiful molinillo (stirrer) and the server was so kind to show me on the stove how to use it. read more
As an American with no Spanish. On planning this trip I saw this and when walking around it found me wasn't even looking for it as I forgot. I WILL NEVER FORGET AGAIN! This was amazing all Mochas cafe shall now be judged by this one. I don't even like coffee but I love this! read more
Cute little spot in the Roma Norte neighborhood that serves cacao beverages and a few little snacks. Customize hot/cold, made with milk/water, select from a range of sweetness levels. The small tables with chairs on the sidewalk area out front are a nice place to chill. We tried a fermented drink with 100% cacao- not at all sweet. And another with at the 50% amargo level that was on the sweet side. Next time... the goldilocks level, 70% for me. read more

La Rifa was a really nice, small artisan café devoted to chocolate. It was in a calm, clean neighborhood, reasonably priced, and delicious. Each drink was made for you by hand from scratch. They serve outrageously delicious coffee and chocolate drinks. It was very near our hotel, so we went there a few times during our stay in Mexico City. While it's not primarily a restaurant, they had a small menu of items that either complimented or contained chocolate. I had a molé that really featured chocolate that I highly recommend. None of the staff spoke any English while we were there but they went out of their way to be accommodating. read more

Amazing bean to bar chocolate, very reasonable prices. All 4 bars have a distinct flavour and wonderful texture. It was my first time tasting Mexican Cacao and was akin to a wine enthusiast discovering a new region to enjoy. Totally awesome read more
La Rifa is a specialty café in Coyoacan offering artisanal chocolate-based drinks and desserts. They have quite a large variety of drinks--you can get anything from 50% cacao all the way up to 100% cacao, and the drinks can be prepared hot or cold with either water or milk and topped off with honey or cinnamon. The drinks come in a large wooden bowl, so you can really appreciate how the chocolate looks and smells so much more. On my visit, I tried both the 70% cacao and 100% cacao brewed with milk, and I was amazed at the depth and complexity of flavor from the nibs. The 100% drink was definitely darker and more bitter, and the 70% drink had an interesting aftertaste of ginger/spices. There was also quite a bit of cacao sediment at the bottom of both of the bowls, which really shows how freshly brewed these drinks were! read more

This little gem was a little hard to find but definitely worth it! We ordered the hot chocolate with water which was surprisingly good since I'm used to having it with milk. The chocolate tamal and concha filled with nata were also great. Can't wait to go back. read more
