I was referred to him for an urgent consultation by Dr. DeMarco following an epidural injection. Unfortunately, my experience with Dr. Blam was deeply disappointing. He entered the room abruptly and defensively asked, "Why are you here?" because he had already read my MRI report. When we explained the referral to discuss a treatment plan for my herniated disc, he was dismissive and interrupted us, stating he could do nothing if we were seeking surgery. He then made a blanket assumption about my insurance, claiming Aetna would not cover surgery, without even knowing my specific policy details. While I have had excellent experiences within this practice with Dr. Adams, Dr. DeMarco, and Amy Holloway, Dr. Blam's rude, disrespectful demeanor left my husband and me completely stunned. I will not return to him and cannot recommend his care.

I'm glad that I waited a while before posting my review. Had I posted it just after the visit that…read moremy 94 year old mother had with Dr. Mathur, it would have been FIVE STARS! Dr. Mathur was very kind. He listened to my mother's issues, did a thorough examination and recommend an in office X-ray and a MRI. This visit was on 2/17. In that visit he said that he would reach out with the MRI results. The MRI was done on 2/18 and the results were available via the Advanced Radiology website on 2/20. I expected to hear from the doctor no later than Monday. I sent a portal message on 2/19 to make sure the doctor's office contacted me directly. When I didn't hear back, I called the office on 2/25, and I was told there was no portal message (even though I was looking at it). I was informed that it may have gone to the incorrect department. Why a practice wouldn't forward my message to the correct department I cannot say... I guess it "wasn't their job". We all know that excuse provided regularly by the younger generation. I was told on that phone call, that the doctor would call. It is now 2/27 and still no call. So, I went into the portal again to send another message and noticed that I could see the chart note. I saw at the end of the note "follow up in 1 week for MRI results". First of all, the doctor said he would call. Second, when I was on the phone with the office on 2/25, why didn't she tell me that I needed to schedule an appointment? I work for a group of Rheumatologists and we would never simply ignore a patient, nor would we ask them to come back for results. I can read the results on the Radiology report. What I would expect is a phone call with a treatment plan and then schedule the appointment to begin treatment. I am going to move forward with a different orthopedic practice. Before I experienced the above, based on my initial experience, I recommended Dr. Mathur to an elderly work associate with a severe back issue. She got the run around as well, so clearly, this is the standard of patient care that Potomac Valley Orthopedic feels is acceptable.

It's an hour past our appointment time and we are still waiting on the doctor. Very unprofessionalread more

Don't waste your time I don't know how he got all these great reviews but a Doctor Who Has only an…read moreanswering service that you have to leave a message with and hope they return your call is absolutely ridiculous. I spent 15 minutes on the phone given the answering service all my information my Workmen's Comp. claim number the approval for an orthopedic and everything yet to this day four days later I've still have not received a phone call back! I called them back and they sarcastically informed me they only except referrals from doctors offices!! First of all in the state of Maryland you're allowed to choose your own doctor with a Workmen's Comp case and make your own appointments . It's Maryland law !!! you're not required to let the doctor do them things it is your civil right in the state of Maryland if you have a referral you can call that doctor and set up your own appointment. You do not have to be at the mercy of your previous doctor to send referrals and approvals to a doctor. But this is how this doctor operates violating your civil rights bye only excepting referrals from doctors offices and not individuals. It's a form of discrimination!!! Not only that it violates your civil rights!!!! Why in the world would you want to use a Doctor Who so arrogant that he won't even return patient's phone calls and has an answering service taking all these phone calls so they can screen their calls. People that's a doctor you can't trust!!! It's a Doctor Who has no empathy and does not care about you as an individual. It's a Doctor Who has ignored the oath he took!!!!! It's is discrimination!!!!

Wait times were always reasonable and I never had problems with billing or any other hassles like that. Dr. Dreese himself seemed like a nice guy. He took the time to explain my injury to me and was happy to answer any questions that I had. The support staff (x-ray techs, nurses, etc) were all very courteous and professional. Thankfully I didn't need surgery so I didn't get the "full experience" so to speak.

Second, let me say that the nurses in the back were personable, and easy to work with. This review is for the front desk staff and billing. The front desk staff are some of the most rude I have ever encountered. Not just one in particular either. All of them. I asked a simple question about the forms I was being asked to sign and it seemed to offend the receptionist (nurse?) to the point of total aggravation. They kept pointing down at the form saying, "just sign it". Ummm no? Then, for what reason I don't know, they asked me what I do for a living. Relevant how? I told them I have a PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and they fell silent. My experience with the other receptionist was no less uncomfortable. They seem very unhappy for whatever reason and it comes across in their interactions with patients. The second part of this review is for billing. I have been trying to get the charges reversed on my VISA card for ~week now, and the front desk tells me I have to call billing. Billing tells me I have to call the front desk. Then billing says they'll call me back and they never do. So now I have to file a dispute with my Bank. For what? They used the wrong card for payment. I just want to reverse that charge, then pay with my FSA account. I'm going to pay them and they'll get their money same day they reverse the charge. Should be super simple but all I get is attitude and misdirection. There are plenty of places to get PRP. I won't be returning here in spite of Dr. Packer's excellent service. I'm not dealing with this desk again
