I had someone else pick them up (they charged them 25....) and when she brought them back I saw that they had butchered the strap. Ripped leather, poor stitching repair and just plain ugly. If they weren't skilled enough to do the work they should have just said no. Now I have a 500 dollar brand new pair of shoes ruined. I try to always support local business but any place that would knowingly send back this shoddy work with so much as an apology and instead actually charge more deserves to be avoided.

My soles were flapping around in the wind, so it was either throw the shoes out and buy a new pair or see if somebody could repair them because they were still in very good condition otherwise. The folks here quoted me $20 to reattach the soles to the shoes and in a week I was back in business. I'm grateful I didn't have to throw them away and could continue to get many more years out of them. Kudos for this craftsman being able to still work his trade in today's economy.

This seems like a business that is struggling to stay afloat. As much as I empathize with the…read moreproprietor, it also means he does not have the proper materials to do the job. I was looking for a new Vibram heel cap for my boots, he did not have the proper size and it wasn't Vibram. His solution was to add move leather to the heel and then put on a more shallow heel cap. This would be an OK solution, however it would end up costing me TWICE what new heel caps would (about $25). Again, I empathize with the shop owner but I don't want to pay double because he doesn't have sufficient inventory of shoe repair parts. He seemed like a very nice guy that was eager to please, but again I can't pay double the price because he is a nice guy.
