They then proceeded to fix them while I waited, Took a belt sander and completely destroyed my shoes. Their English is not good, and the man said "no understand." To have scuffs repaired and sole protection put on. They charged me $100 and seriously jacked up both pairs. I think this business is closing and thank the lord. $2000 worth of shoes I don't know can be salvaged. MESSED UP. Clearly there is no recourse. I also must recommend against coming here. I brought in a Dolce & Gabbana handbag because the zipper was jammed, and they ruined it. The zipper was aligned unevenly and the result was a mess. There was glue everywhere, both on the zipper and outside of the bag. There were grease stains on the zipper fabric as well. I wish I could attach a picture to show you what I'm talking about...you would never come here if you can see the end result! I thought about asking them to fix it, but honestly I'm not sure what they could do to salvage the bag and I don't really trust them to attempt it. And if course I can't refuse payment until it has been corrected, given that payment was required up front. That should have been my first warning, I guess. The bag was not ready at the time they said it would be, but of course that's the least of my concerns. I've been coming here for years. They do excellent work and what's really nice is they have options. Options in the way of heel tip/sole colors. This past weekend, I took in a pair of metallic leather sandals that have silver heels and needed a light tan heel tip to be replaced. A lot of shoe repair stores only have black or brown. Model's had the exact color. It cost $7 to replace both tips. (I also brought in a pair of well-worn espadrilles and asked about getting the entire sole replaced. They quoted me $45. I don't know if that's an average price or not, but these were cheap shoes, so it wasn't worth it to me to have them fixed. just and fyi.) read more

I had taken a bag in to have the straps sewn. $55-steep for the amount of work. She also quoted me $45 to clean the bag (way steep). Two weeks later, I go to pickup my purse. I found this business through Yelp and am extremely happy with the results. Although I have lived in foreign countries and my job allows me to interact frequently with non-native speakers of English, I had a difficult time understanding the owner, and I wasn't sure that he had understood my request. However, be patient and do not let the apparent communication barrier deter you from doing business with Model, because the service is superb. You need to pay up front for repairs. They charged me $34 to replace the soles on a pair of dress shoes and told me to return after 3 days. I wasn't sure what to expect, but the shoes are even better than when new and will probably last me at least a couple of years more. The workmanship was mediocre at best (replaced soles on 1 pair of shoes, very sloppy). Considering all this I paid $63 dollars for 1 polishing of one pair of shoes, 1/2 sole replaced on pair of shoes and heel caps on 2 pair. You have to pay for the work before it is even completed. I took in two pairs of boots... One leather and one suede, asking for suede to be dyed to original color/repaired and leather to be cleaned. I was charged $60 up front for the work, and then waited a week to pick up both sets of boots. When I arrived to pick up both, I discovered that the boots looked pretty much exactly the same way as I drop them off. A small cut had been sewed from the inside, but was still obvious. I have seen this place since I moved to Green Hills a year ago but never got around to taking in several pair of boots that need heels and taps. I had a pair of summer sandals in the car with me that need taps and a small part of the front sole glued, so I stopped in. The woman at the counter understood what I wanted and told me it would be $10". I asked her how much the heel plates were and she said $6 plus $4 for gluing the front sole ( it was less than 1/4 inch and I should have done it myself with superglue) . The first pair of shoes I had serviced there were repaired very well and looked good once I picked them up. However, when I came to pick them up, I was asked to come around to the staff side of the store to actually recover my shoes because they couldn't find them. I thought they lost my shoes, but I found them after looking for about 2 seconds. I came back a week later and asked them to repair a couple pair of shoes and they quoted me $96 dollars for a resole service. I asked if instead they could just polish a pair and she seemed frustrated by the notion that I did not want to pay for the initial resoling, which was true, but regardless she had a noticeable frustration from that point forward, clearly evident from when I handed her my shoes and SHE THREW MY SHOES ON THE FLOOR and then, made a dismissive hand motion to me after my credit card was charged. I advise against using model shoe rebuilders. They ruined two pairs of shoes that I brought in for simple polishing. On one pair they destroyed the patent leather, and on the other pair they used black polish on a white threaded border, which turned the white threading black. Not only did they ruin two pairs of my shoes but they proceeded not to acknowledge their mistake . If a mistake is made I expect them to apologize and try to fix it rather than tell me that the shoes were brought in like that. I know exactly what my shoes looked like before bringing them in, and they did not come back that way. They also had no intention of refunding my money or reconciling their mistake. I have never had such bad service. Basically, they ruined $500 dollars worth of shoes and had no intention of acknowledging their terrible, destructive handywork. I have given Model 3 chances to repair several pairs of nice leather boots and I have finally learned my lesson and will absolutely not be returning. I have taken 3 pairs of expensive leather boots to have the heels re-wrapped, soles replaced and zippers replaced and the workmanship and quality have lacked every time. They were unable to match the quality of the original parts on any of my boots. One pair had a heel that was wrapped in brown leather and they redid them with a cheap, plastic looking material and painted it a shiny brown color that did not come close to matching the original in any way. They have also replaced the heel on 2 pairs of boots and 1. The new heel did not match the sole 2. The new part has been too tall on 2 occasions so the boots became awkward feeling and uncomfortable to walk in because of the odd incline. They make you pay up front, which is annoying because if you are not happy because they will neither fix nor give you a discount/refund and I would not say that they are cheap. While less expensive than some repair shops I have found, the work is not worth it and the quality is poor. I would only recommend Model's for minor fixes on inexpensive shoes - and I will personally not even return for that. read more

When I picked them up, not only did they look horrible, they were at least a size and a half too big. And when I questioned the man about it, he just added foot pads and said "no fix." I will never go back. They were very unprofessional and extremely rude. When I came in for a quote I was told to leave my things with them and they would call me with the price the next day. I did not receive a call and it took several days before I could reach someone on the phone. When I did get ahold of someone and they gave me the price I told them it was too expensive and I did not want the work done. The woman was rude and told me the price was not expensive but I insisted on picking my things up and going somewhere else. When I came in the only person working could barely speak English, wouldn't give me my things, and kept repeating that I needed to come back. The next day they were closed. I had to take time during work the following week to get ahold of someone and ask when I could come get my things. The woman kept repeating the price and I told her I did not want the work done. She hung up the phone on me and when I left work early to get my things she had already done the work and yelled at me to pay. She was very rude and stormed out of the store. I had to use Google translate to communicate with the man there. Finally I paid him to get my things and leave. I never write reviews, but I had to this time. I only wish I could give 0 stars. Do not take your shoes here. They ruined a pair of boots I had bought in Spain. The bottom of the shoe was wearing out but somehow they managed to poke a hole in it. They put toe caps that did not match the color or texture of the shoe. They did not patch one area they said they would. All they did was put rubber bottoms on the heel. All this cost me $50 and now I have to throw my shoes away. I calmly asked for a refund for everything but the heels (which still shouldn't have cost $20 since they didn't repair the base of the heel). The lady yelled at me, rolled her eyes, and called me crazy repeatedly. Another customer entered and asked why she was yelling at me. She said it was because I was crazy. A good experience! I have my Birkenstock sandals resoled regularly and often I need the cork repaired as well. I was skeptical about this shop after being quoted a much lower price ($43) and much faster turnaround time (two days) than any other repair shop I have used. I hate to give them 1 star. I took a belt in and asked for them to lengthen it a few inches. $15. When I picked it up I noticed that it seemed shorter and asked about it. The woman at the front made faces and rolled her eyes but went back and brought back a man. He could not speak English well but had a piece of leather and clearly understood the mix up. Feeling bad and worried I had made a mistake I brought the belt home to check the size. They had shortened it as I thought. When I took the belt back the woman insisted that I told them to shorten it. When I tried to explain, she began talking over me and yelling at me that it was my mistake. She began filling out the ticket and acted angry and repeated sarcastically everything I said. She told me that it would cost $10! When I explained that I had already paid $15 and that they had made the mistake, she began yelling again. I have never been treated so rudely and am certain that if anyone else had been in the store she would not acted like this. I have been there many times and have never had a problem but I will never go there again. The belt is brand new and I am sure that it can not be fixed now. read more
