It sucks to be traveling somewhere and your only pair of shoes starts to fail. I brought them to Tony's in the Arcade. They offered to do a quick repair but suggested that a proper repair would require at least 12 hours for the glue to set. Well, that doesn't work for me. I need these shoes to, like, get back to the office. "Well, how about you borrow these?" And the co-owner offered me a pair of LOANER shoes. How flippin' awesome is that? Yep, they fit well enough and no one noticed that I wasn't wearing the same pair of shoes. I returned on Monday to pick up my repaired (and shined!) shoes. They were perfect. An excellent repair. Ruined my suede Chelsea boots that I hadn't even had for a week. Had a small stain on them that I didn't trust myself to clean without damaging them. Took them in to have them cleaned and they made it worse. Texture is hard as a rock and the brush they used scratched the boot to hell and made it look worse than what I brought them in looking like. Also had some insoles replaced and I should've just bought a new pair of the same boot instead of having them repaired. Poorly glued on and asked for a brown sole and they still put on a black one. 4.5* Andy Dufresne broke out of an unjust situation on the strength of the fact that no one ever looks at a man's shoes. If you find yourself unjustly accused of murder in 1940s Maine, take note. If your situation is otherwise, pay attention to your footwear. Ain't no one got time for busted feets. I've mentioned in other reviews that I own a pair of treasured Versace shoes (from the reign of Gianni). I bought them under the goading of a then-girlfriend who tried to educate me on the importance and power of dressing well. Those shoes have traveled with me to 3 continents, many countries and are a part of multiple treasured memories. They mean a great deal to me but they're also starting to show their age. Knowing that the soles are unique and not wanting to mess that up, I needed to find a cobbler who knew what he was doing so's I could entrust such a vital pair of footwear. Knowing the folly of going all-in on a gamble, I did my research, found Tony's and brought a pair of Calvin Klein slip-ons to see what he could do with them. Besides being old and not cared for as best they should have been, the heels were a disaster, given my supination. I explained what I wanted/needed to Tony & his wife (both extremely nice people). They nodded, smiled, billed me ($26!), and told me to return in two days. I did so and marveled at my shoes. They looked as good as they did when i bought them. They were shined, polished, equipped with a heel that complimented the integrity of the shoe, and extremely comfortable. I was duly impressed. Shocked, really. I didn't anticipate such a good result. Comfortable in the outcome of my experiment, I believe I have found the cobbler to help bring my treasured Versaces back to life. Fingers crossed. *The last .5 will depend on the Versaces. read more

Family run business, lady at the front counter very nice, they're punctual with pick up time for shoes. I picked it up in a week. I have booties that are irreplaceable- had them for years and they were worn down to the leather soles and you could see the metal in my heel. After I got it back with rubber soles and a new point, it's good as new. Can't even tell that they've been re-soled when I'm wearing them. read more

Wow, what a joke. Took my boots in to get new insoles. The old ones were loose and doubling up when i wore them. They said it woued be a week. I came back to pick them up and looked in and they had just glued the old worn out ones back in. Worse, the left one was glued in with a big bubble in it and the right one was as loose as when i took it in. I 'm guessing they didnt bother cleaning the inner sole and didnt use the right glue. Hopeless. Never go there. read more

These people are amazing. My wife and I took in three pairs of boots to have soles repaired. Her two pairs of boots were pretty long in the tooth, with holes at the toe. We just asked for our heels to be replaced. These guys went way above and beyond, making repairs to holes, to worn down leather in the heel, and doing things that other shops had refused to do and we weren't expecting could be done. I've got a 5 year old pair of Johnston-Murphy shoes with leather uppers broken in just right. I wore the treads down to shame shoes status. I went into to this place and both of these sweet people were working...rebuilding shoes! Anyway, they both promised my amazing leather an amazing Vibram update/upgrade, new comfort inserts, and no charge shine for 88 bucks total.
