Dr. Mertz sets his patients at ease. He doesn't beat around the bush, answers all our questions with a thorough explanation, offers prevention advice, and has a very proficient practice. The paperwork that is shared with the patient is modern and easy to follow. The admin help visibly work off the options of the health insurance I am using. The low waiting times with the waiting room and exam room have been impressive versus what I read of elsewhere. The overall operation is set up to run efficiently, which is too rare in the healthcare industry. The waiting area is large, clean and well-kept. I was waiting hours and hours in the waiting room of my previous family practitioner and it was becoming a burden. He was a wonderful physician but the wait time was just too much. Luckily I found Family Practice Associates of Corpus Christi and was accepted as a new patient. That was about six months ago. Both my wife and I switched to Dr. Mertz. Dr. Mertz is fantastic. He doesn't beat around the bush, answers all our questions with a thorough explanation, and has a very proficient practice. Both my wife and I have seen Dr. Mertz several times since becoming his patients and every time we only spent five to ten minutes in the waiting room and only a couple minutes in the exam room before Dr. Mertz came in. I only wish I had found Dr. Mertz when I retired to Corpus Christi in 2005. My life would have been much better from a medical standpoint. I'd be remiss if I didn't mention his staff and the waiting area. His staff is wonderful in every regard. And the waiting area is large and clean. If you're considering Family Practice Associates of Corpus Christi, don't hesitate to give them a call. And by all means as to be assigned to Dr. Mertz.

I visited the new Padre Island nautical theme location last week which is so beautiful and clean but more importantly state of the art. A+ rating to the Island Medical Office NP and staff and I personally recommend Martinez Medical which I believe does have (5) area coastal bend locations. Their in-house lab and diagnostic services is a bonus but think about trusting your care with a professional team that truly has your best interest. Most insurances is accepted but also cash pay services which serves everyone and anyone!! I am so happy that I did schedule my annual exam with Dr Mario Martinez MD & team.

I have never been to a doctor that completely refused to listen to anything I had to say until Dr. Martinez. Upon arriving, I told them about the condition I had already been diagnosed with that needed further treatment. The moment they heard chest pain, they hooked me up to an EKG. The nurse did this before the doctor even came in, without his order. I told her, "My heart has been checked. That is not the issue." She ignored me and hooked me up anyway. Then, the doctor came in. He disregarded everything I had to say and insisted on a chest X-Ray and an ultrasound (as well as 7 vials of blood for blood work.) Both tests had been done within the last year by my previous doctor. I told him I did not want to do them and that my previous doctor could fax over my file so he could see them. He refused and said he only does his own tests- he doesn't acknowledge tests done by other doctors. I am a college student with little income who walked out with $350 in bills. 6 months later, they are still rolling in. The bills are only so "low" because I flat out started refusing the tests they were forcing on me. It was a miserable three hours, where I was being completely undermined and treated like I didn't understand anything about my own health history. After deciding to never see Dr. Martinez again, I have returned to my previous doctor, who, without taking my insurance, is cheaper. He listens to me and is able to actually help me. Not one test done with Dr. Martinez showed anything, which I had told him before they were done. I wasted a huge amount of money to be treated awfully.
