I got 2 Double Leg Chicken Combos ($13.99 each) for my parents and I and they were great!…read more The chicken was fall-off-the bone tender and very flavourful. You can get it with fries, rice, or half fries and half rice. I like variety, so I chose the half and half option. The rice was soft, fluffy and full of flavour. It was too greasy/oily for my preference, but I still enjoyed it. I'd like it more if they cut back on the oil though. The fries were excellent. Still crispy even after the drive to my parents' house. It came with coleslaw, which was mayo-based. I prefer vinegar-based coleslaw, but it was still good. For the sauce, I got the "secret sauce" which was like a creamy chipotle. I'd get it again, although I'm interested in trying other sauces too. Jajy Chicken is currently a ghost kitchen inside John Juan Burrito. You have to order online. In fact, I went to the store to order in-store, but was told to order online, lol. They were nice about it though and even pulled up the QR Code for me to scan on my phone. The website took me to UberEats. On UberEats at the time they had $2 off your order if your order is $10 or more. So I ordered on UberEats on my phone for pickup while I was sitting in the restaurant, haha. Service was friendly and welcoming. There's seating inside John Juan Burrito, which is like a fast food Tex-Mex place, if you want to eat in. The wait wasn't long for my food. Definitely recommend, if you like chicken! Lots of free parking in the plaza parking lot.

I had lunch at Fried Chicken Club recently and overall the food was good…read more I ordered the fried chicken sandwich meal which comes with fries and a drink for $9.95. The default drink is a can of pop. I got a bottle of water, which is no extra charge, but if you get juice, it's an additional $0.50. For the fried chicken you have a choice of regular or spicy. I chose regular. The sandwich comes with shredded lettuce, tomatoes, a slice of marble cheese, and a thick and juicy piece of fried chicken breast. The sauces are a spicy mayo on the bottom bun and a regular mayo on the top bun. I loved that they use real cheese slices and not that processed Kraft Singles-like stuff. Extra points for that. My only real complaint is that in the pictures in the store and on the menu online, the bun is a brioche without seeds on it. But the actual product comes on a sesame seed bun! Gah! I can't eat sesame seeds so I had to throw out the bun and eat the sandwich bunless. Luckily they gave me a knife and fork! The lettuce and tomatoes were fresh. The breading on the chicken was really crispy and delicious. The chicken was real lean breast meat and was thick and juicy. I loved it. I might try just the fried chicken next time, and I'll get the spicy option ;) Fries are breaded and likely from frozen but they were crispy and I enjoyed them. The chicken here is Halal. Service was friendly. Takeout only during these Pandemic times. Staff were wearing masks. They are relatively new and are a small independent business. I definitely recommend checking them out if you like fried chicken. The restaurant is in the Emvale Acres Shopping Centre. Lots of free parking.

Does anyone miss the now defunct Fumi's African Caribbean Restaurant (was on Rochester St) and…read moreMugena Caribbean Cuisine (was on Richmond Rd)? If so, I learned that the owner of those 2 places is the owner of the newly opened OB&O Afro-Caribbean Restaurant! I missed out on eating at Fumi's and Mugena's, so was glad to be able to try OB&O. The food is delicious!! My husband and I shared the Jerk Chicken Platter ($16.99) and the Beef Roti and Salad (which was actually coleslaw) ($11.99). The Jerk Chicken Platter came with a chicken leg (drumstick with thigh attached), 4 pieces of plantains, and lots of rice and beans. The chicken was fall-off-the-bone tender and so flavourful. It had a good amount of heat to it. So I wouldn't recommend it if you can't handle spice. It's not overly spicy, but definitely has some kick. I loved the chicken. The plantains were sweet and soft without being mushy. They were great. The rice was plentiful and spotted with red kidney beans. It also had a spicy kick to it. My only complaint is that it was a bit too oily for my tastes. However, it was still incredibly enjoyable. The Beef Roti was also delicious. The beef cubes, although not all that plentiful, were tender and lean. The potatoes and chickpeas were a good consistency, not too hard but not too mushy. Overall, very tasty, and not spicy at all. I was not a fan of the coleslaw, but I don't like coleslaw in general. It was a mayo-based coleslaw with cabbage, carrots and cucumbers. The latter is an ingredient I don't usually see in coleslaw, so props to them for that. It wasn't bad, I just don't like coleslaw. Overall, we both really enjoyed the food. I'm looking for to trying the African food there. We got takeout and the takeout boxes were styrofoam. I would have preferred cardboard boxes. I waited maybe 15-20 minutes for my food. They have some Jamaican patties in the warmer if you're looking for a quick grab and go snack. They are $2.99 each. The inside of the restaurant is very casual. The tables have plastic over them. OB&O is in the space that was formerly Mont Tacos. Street parking or parking in the strip mall lot, which is small.
