Lo and behold, I found out they're a part of the same company/brand. How cool!! Same great products, same great prices. They even had a fully operating hair and nail salon inside. I barely had any vacant space in my luggage, but I absolutely had to grab some good deals and exit quickly lol. The store is huge and the various sections are easy to browse. It was also easy to spot employees walking around if you needed to ask for help.

There is also no debit card machine, so come in here with cash or get ready to make a dash to the nearest ATM. For the t-shirt I bought, it cost 20 euro, which I was a tad upset to part with. I'm not sure about the quality of these t-shirts so I'm hoping that was good value for money. To be honest, the t-shirts are wonderful in here, so this makes it a very expensive shop for someone who wanted to buy at least four t-shirts on sale here yesterday. The shop attendant is lovely, and doesn't give you the evils as you pull down t-shirt after t-shirt, or like myself, run out and come back with a really crumpled twenty euro. I like this shop. On weekends a DJ spins (though I'm over the ironic replaying of 80s b-sides) and headband-wearing, skinny jeaned hipsters lounge on the sofas. Prices are a little steep for the budget shopper, but the pieces here are unique and handmade (or vintage and relabelled). All in all, it's cooler than cool.

I discovered this gem in 2005 and have found quite a few bargains that I still have. The garments fit well, wash well and are pretty funky! The shoes are good as well, I had a work BBQ to go to and had nothing to wear, so I popped along to Leia and got a dress and a pair of "plasticky fake hooker heels" (the exact same pair in River Island for a third of the price) and got complimented all night about my ensemble! The staff are so helpful, and not afraid to tell you what suits you and what would go nicely with that top/skirt/dress, as with the BBQ, I tried on a really unflattering dress, to which the senior sales girl (Stacy, Shes the best!!) told me that it made me look bigger then I am, (scarlet!!) and helped me choose something that was more me, and I felt great all night!! Dirty Fabulous has been mentioned a few times as a place to find good vintage clothing, particularly dresses. It's upstarts in one of the georgian buildings on Baggot street, so it's a bit off the beaten track, and I suspect you have to have an appointment - well for wedding dresses you certainly do. We were taken into a room with beautiful things that girls love, but what surprised me was the range of dresses was quite small. The nature of vintage being what it is means that you do have to be lucky to be in the room at the same time as the dress you want. However I found the staff great, they do realise the nature of the search and offer to keep your details and to let you know if anything that you would like does come in. And the dresses are beautiful. You can see these really beautiful different styles from various decades - 50s, 20s, 60s etc. There's also beautiful vintage jewelry and accessories. So if you're a vintage style lover this is definitely a place for you. I do have to say that the staff here really stood out. We had a few appointments that same day and no-one gave us advice anything like the lady in Dirty Fabulous. I think my friend was very tired of mediocre dresses at this point, and she picked her up by telling her not to mind any nonsense people tell her in shops about deadlines. She gave her great advice about trying things on even if they were in the wrong colour or shape to get a better idea of what works and what doesn't. She gave us cards of other shops which might stock dresses that she might also like. She organised us bridesmaids, who were flailing about uselessly, by designating a note-taker and talking about mailing lists. And all of it was done in a gentle, understanding way which made us all warm to her, and agree we would certainly recommend the place. She said to us as we were leaving "always remember to eat between every appointment and have a glass of wine with lunch".... after a footsore day with a disappointed bride-to-be the importance of this advice really stands out in my mind!

My relationship with thrash metal did not last terribly long (I just couldn't relate to all of the angst, for then as I now I was possessed of a sunny dispostion), but for the duration of that particular affectation, you could be sure to find me most Saturdays in Asha in Stephen's Green Shopping Centre. Asha is the only shop in Dublin dedicated exclusively to moper nonsense (and I'm not forgetting about St George's St arcade; that is for when the goths graduate to emo-dom). Asha is full of t-shirts, posters, stickers, badges, bracelets and teenagers going through their 'awkward' phase, essentially everything that you need to be cock-of-the-walk when you're hanging around outside the Central Bank, giving out about how awful your parents are because they won't let you get a Jim Morrison tattoo. Going into Asha was always an insructive experience, because apart from selling goth accessories, they also sell cannabis paraphernalia. And pot, beloved not only of mopers, is also enjoyed by scobes, so Asha is the only place in Dublin where these two disparate cultures are likely to interact on a regular basis. Go to Asha one day, sidle up to one of the stripy-jumper-sovereign ring-kids and tell him "I just heard that hippy over there slagging Bob Marley". Oh, what fun.
