I have been to Olinda several times, but this was my first time staying at the Pousada do Amparo, and it was very, very good! This charming B&B sits on a lovely street in this historic city. They converted 2 adjoining houses into this pousada (they also occupy another building on the opposite side of the street).
Parts of the building date back to the 18th Century & they have left much in place, but have updated enough of the space so that you have all the modern conveniences. Our room had a queen-sized bed that was very comfortable; the bathroom was nice. The room also had a loft with a really cute seating area. Our room had a view of the garden and the city of Recife in the distance.
All of the employees were friendly and helpful (if not always well-informed about what was and was not open in the town). There is a pool surrounded by a lovely garden with various seating areas.
Breakfast, which is included, is served in the hotel´s restaurant (Bistro Flor de Coco, which is open to the public for lunch and dinner). The quality and variety of the offerings were very nice.
Parking is available on the street, which is common here, since most of the buildings were constructed before the invention of the automobile.
I would definitely recommend this hotel/B&B and would definitely stay here again. read more
