I've…read morebeen getting regular massages and going to physical therapy along with getting muscle relaxers and toradoll shots from my doctor. It would get a little better. Then I would do some household chores and it would come back even worse. Friday evening I was searching the internet for muscle spasm treatments while laying on the couch after having to leave work early due to the pain. On this search I came across three magical words. TRIGGER POINT INJECTIONS. Upon reading these wonderful words I immediately contacted Dr. Prieto. She was able to get me in as soon as Sunday. Upon arriving she explained very the entire process in detail. Including the risks (which I didn't even think of) that could, but not likely to happen. She then examined my neck shoulder. Finding knots all throughout the left side of my upper back including my Levator Scapulae, Romboid Major, Romboid Minor, Longissimus Thoracis, Infraspinatus and Teres Minor. She then Injected into the knots a concoction of anesthetic, Steroid and Toradol having her Medical Assistant (Jan) perform some deep tissue massage to each injection site before moving to the next injection in order make sure the medicine spread as fare as possible breaking up the knots in my muscles. I felt sore and the pain was 30% gone right away. That was yesterday. Last night I slept on my back without a pillow (very hard for me as I am a side sleeper) and upon waking I can honestly say 97% was gone. I have worked all day and am in no pain. I have some soreness from the deep tissue but the actual pain is gone. I will continue to do my PT but this has seriously changed my life. While the front-desk experience at this clinic could definitely be improved, Dr. Filbrandt himself is excellent. I've had the same procedures done by him years ago when he was at Enloe and he's great. He's highly experienced, intelligent, kind, has a good memory and really listens. I absolutely recommend him for any nerve testing. As for the clinic itself, I can't speak to the other pain specialists but one downside is that it's impossible to reach a real person by phone and they don't have a patient portal, either. Personally, the only reason I'd go to Interventional Pain Solutions is to see Dr. Filbrandt.

I had a very disappointing experience with Dr. Larry Wainschel and his office…read more I first saw Dr. Wainschel in the ER in November 2025 regarding a tumor on my spine. He ultimately determined that the surgery was beyond his expertise, and I had to undergo the operation at California Pacific Medical Center instead. Because his office is closer to where I live, I decided to continue follow-up care with him afterward. During my very first office appointment, Dr. Wainschel also asked me several personal questions that made me uncomfortable and felt unrelated to my medical care. That immediately gave me concerns about professionalism and patient comfort. During later appointments, I repeatedly explained that I had lost sensation in my feet due to nerve damage. I made it very clear that I was concerned about the possibility of permanent nerve damage if the issue was not properly evaluated and treated. Despite these concerns, I was scheduled for a follow-up three months later and only given an MRI for my upper back. My primary care doctor later ordered an MRI of my lower back, which showed: "L4-L5 by 5.0 mm. Suspicion for a 5.6 mm perineural cyst." This cyst can potentially affect nerves in the lower body and may contribute to worsening neurological symptoms. Treatments such as steroid injections can sometimes help, yet I struggled to get any urgency or follow-up from Dr. Wainschel's office. I contacted the office multiple times asking whether I needed an EMG test to determine if the cyst was contributing to my nerve damage. I was not asking for anything extreme -- I simply wanted a clear yes or no answer and proper evaluation. My concerns were not treated as a priority, and I could not get a direct response from the office manager, Theresa. Meanwhile, I continue to have significant numbness and loss of sensation in my feet while waiting weeks for another appointment. My biggest issues were the lack of communication, lack of urgency, feeling dismissed while dealing with potentially permanent neurological symptoms, and being made uncomfortable during my care.
