Director Christina Jun and her family were all very active at the Burbank location back in the day. I have always remembered her strong and loving leadership fondly throughout the years. I always wondered what happened after I graduated from high school since I moved away to Berkeley. I started going there since the 3rd or 4th grade. I was going through a rough childhood and being supported by a single mother, but everyone there always made me felt included and appreciated. Top Learning Center nurtured my work ethic and endless curiosity. I got 3 years ahead in math thanks to everything I learned at Top Learning Center. Although I did end up changing my career trajectory due to a fun job opportunity in college and didn't stay in STEM, I still got into my dream school, which changed my life forever and for the better. I will always be grateful to Top Learning Center for that. I don't think I ever got to say a formal thank you or goodbye because of how busy I got in high school. Private lessons are $50/hr, and small group lessons are $25/hr., but discounted to $20/hr when you pay 4 weeks at a time. Though my daughter is signed up for a small group lesson, often, she is the only student. I used to tutor geometry and algebra, but I am pretty short fused when it comes to teaching my own daughter. In short, I canot do better than what Top Learning Glendale does. p.s. Top Leaning is a franchise, and the quality of each center depends on the individual franchise owner.

This place is run by a sweet older lady named Coco. She is sweet in that she is like a grandma, but she gives different information to each family regarding payment. A person never knows what she is going to charge or give as a deal. It is very over priced for the amount a child gets out of it. If a kid sticks with this method for 15 years the parents will have spent $64,800 that doesn't include the deposit. This type of thing needs to be less expensive. Especially since they start kids at a lower level so they can "brand them" into this method. The actual education does work, but only if the facility is honest and organized. This one in particular is not. Coco is overwhelmed easily as numerous kids come in. She relies on teenagers who have zero experience in the work force. One guy was a total jerk to my kid, teasing him saying he didn't do that work, when in fact he did as I saw him do it at the table in front of this punk kid. The teens also answer the phone as well as teach at the same time offering up chaos within the facility. It is over crowded and offers little hours except a few after school. It is currently summertime so why not open it up for summer hours? I mean we are paying $360 a month per child for two subjects. So, the least you can do is be open when people are available. Coco may have run this better years ago, but now it is a total disorganized mess.

For example, when we read Green Eggs and Ham, she actually brought a camp stove to class and made us green eggs and ham! She was very creative with her teaching methods! ~ Ms. Carol (1st grade): Probably the sweetest teacher I've ever had. She too was very creative. I remember her taking us outside to collect leaves in order to inspire us to write our Haiku poems. She also played the piano during "sing-alongs" ~ Ms. Sagadencky (2nd): So much energy! She definitely taught me the difference between "Can I" and "May I" =) ~ Ms. Flint (3rd): We had a huge board and each student had an ice cream cone with their name on it. She would quiz us weekly on our multiplication tables, and if we passed, we'd receive a scoop of ice cream. Once our ice cream scoops reached the top of the board, she'd bring in actual popsicles as rewards. Sweet! Unfortunately, she was only our teacher for a few months because she left on maternity leave. ~Ms. Vigiano (4th): One day, we returned from our lunch break and Ms. Vigiano mentioned that there were golden nuggets hidden all over the classroom that we had to find. It was a nice touch to our "Gold Rush" lesson plan. ~ Ms. Warrick (5th): I gave this teacher hell. If you're reading this, I'm sorry! Ms. Warrick had the misfortune of dealing with me while I was going through my rebellious phase. ~ Mr.Thal (6th): Believe it or not, Mr. Thal was hearing impaired. He taught us as much as he could (including sign language which was awesome), but left because his hearing got much worse. ~ Mr.Ghazarian (6th): Everyone wanted to be in Mr.Ghazarian's class because he was the "cool" teacher. I had him for History and Science I believe, and he was a good teacher. I remember making a really awesome pyramid while we were covering Ancient Egypt. Besides the wonderful teachers, John Muir had the best book sales, Halloween carnivals, bake sales and field trips. I have kept in touch with many of my friends that I met at John Muir. Only con: Mrs. Avakian, the principal. She was a bitter and cold-hearted woman who only smiled or showed any kindness during award ceremonies or events where parents were present.

I hr and 3 problems solved NOT EXPECTABLE!!! So I called the tutoring center after also speaking with my son on why he had only completed 3 problems I got a nasty text back from the owner. That he had checked his assignment 3 times during that hr and that my son was slow. And not to mention he had not answered question #2 how had she checked!!
