Don't get me wrong. This place is FUN. This review is for AHA and his crew that checked my party and I in. I came here for a birthday celebration that the birthday host threw. Having the event pre arranged, the birthday girl instructed us to go through the VIP line BEFORE 11pm--ok no problem. Easy enough. A woman working VIP took us to our bottle service table. **Note no wristbands or indication was given that we were granted access to the venue before 11pm because after 11pm there is a $10 cover charge. Fast forward to the night, not knowing my friend and I have to tell the bouncer we are leaving to pick up a friend, we leave the exit not telling the bouncer a thing, not having a wristband or any indication we arrived before 11pm. We try to enter again--we are not granted access because we "were not given a wristband or told the bouncer we were leaving". This message is for UPPER MANAGEMENT to communicate with their staff on tracking their guests. I'm not suprised if the male bouncer gave me a fake first name "Aha" is his name. Well Mr. Aha, please tell your workers to count VIP guests accordingly. It will save you and your staff the headache. 1/10 for customer service. read more

We were here for the Pig and Swig Event. Which also included unlimited beer tasting and Bourbon tasting. Now mind you. I really came for the bacon and beer. Now l have been known to taste a little Jack Daniels on occasion but l'm not a huge whiskey fan but I have to say that may be changing lol. I tried something called spiced box and Cabin fever, and my favorite was the Jim Beam Apple.. omgggggg l loved it. Now ladies you would definitely like this. I had it straight with no ice or mixer. It had a delightful apple scent. Went down very smooth with the apple flavor. Now some whisky would have me frowning as l taste it but not this stuff here. Now some fellas may think it's to sweet but l didn't. Actually I think it could become dangerous if left around the house. I could see myself with a daily shot glass in my hand. So l won't be buying a bottle but now l know if ever out and feeling like something different l would be purchasing it. This event was awesome and we received a BBQ meal ticket with it and they had plenty of seating available indoors and outdoors with the electric heaters going on near the beer garden. Which came in handy since it was a bit cooler. The manager was nice and gave us our own exclusive VIP pass for future ref. They also have two nearby parking garages very close by. I think if l return l would be interested in their Happy Hour. Would definitely come back for an event such as this one in the future. read more

This place sucks!!! The drinks were cheap and nasty, the place itself was dirty and the people here are super shady!! I had a purse with me and was carrying both my own wallet and my friend's wristlet (with her phone) in it. I had my purse on me at all times but somehow by the end of the night both my wallet and her wristlet were gone! Eventually, I got my wallet back with no cash left in it and my friend never got her wristlet/phone back! We heard the next day that this happened to several customers the night we were there. I've been to Power Plant Live! a couple of times either when I or friends won happy hours. I haven't been in like a year.... but out of the blue, I got a notification that I won a bar crawl to hop between most of the spots! Since when have they done bar crawls? I was super excited! So I assembled my crew and we went. I got there around 6... my first time going in the daytime. It's beautiful there in the daytime, I wish I could make it that early every time, but not with how I work in DC.... anyways, my first stop was Luckie's, where my email advertised complimentary appetizers until 7:00. Here, I learned that people just walk around with platters and allow you to just pick one piece off (finger food basically), so it was no way near enough to fill you... I still had to buy food. I only had one tiny piece of a quesadilla...nothing else came around. I wasn't upset though, because the quesadilla was worth buying, BUT I do think that they should clarify how the complimentary appetizers work, because I was expecting way more. After leaving there I got my cup to drink unlimited, then went into the Leinenkugel's Beer Garden. It's a nice open place, but the service was super slow... I am fairly certain that our waitress was new, so I'll give her the benefit of the doubt on that. We also saw a mouse in there... The place IS pretty open so I don't know if that was a Baltimore mouse or a mouse exclusive to that place... either way, yikes. After that, had an absolute blast in PBR because they had A BULL! I'd never ridden a mech bull before but I hope that footage doesn't see the light of day because I got pwned. Lastly was Mosaic, which got really live after the concert ended and we really enjoyed ourselves there too. The best part about winning this bar crawl is that no one had to pay, and we all got free parking in Pier 5... it's a beautiful thing. All you have to do is say the host's name at the tent and give them your Pier V parking stub and you're good to go! Make friends... everything is better when it's free (or discounted). Power Plant Live is a real easy way to have fun for a night out in Baltimore. Multiple bars, a dj at the back of the plaza, and lots of people... what more do you want? Leinenkugel's was my favorite but my friends did enjoy their cocktails at another place (sorry I don't remember the name). Outdoor seating is also a big fat plus. Please note that at least on Saturday nights there is a $10 cover charge, but this cover charge gives you a $10 bar tab. So unless no one in your group plans on drinking, I don't see why you wouldn't enjoy yourself here! read more

So I know it's probably cheesy to the locals. But I'm not one so I don't really care. This place has a bunch of venues for live music and great places to eat. I think because I remember before it was there, there wasn't much around there. But whenever I go to Baltimore, I always manage to go here to find a place to eat or drink. Or highly recommend it to anyone. I avoid Baltimore Inner Harbor like the plague in the dead of summer. The best times to go is fall and late spring. Winter too. Not bad... So my first time here was to see Laidback Luke who was spinning outdoors towards the back end of the cluster of bars that make up Power Plant. Thus, my review is more about my experience of this venue hosting a show rather than an easy place to barhop. The start of our night was spent waiting in two lines: one to get into Power Plant and a second to get our tickets scanned and receive bracelets to be allowed to enter the show area. I'd read the dress code on the website beforehand, after having read some reviews here regarding the strictness of the bouncers (not that it's usually a big issue with girls) but it seemed like there were a lot of kids breaking the rules. However, it was a Thursday and the show featured a dubstep-y DJ as well (GTA) so maybe they were just being more lenient that night. As far as the show and sound system: I don't want to sound like an old grandma but it was too loud. It seemed like they'd primed the speakers to be loud enough that people on the street a block away would be able to hear the music - maybe to tempt them into coming? It was loud enough that my hearing was quite damaged well into the next afternoon. However, I love Laidback Luke and he put on an awesome set and I thoroughly enjoyed myself - but that's neither here nor there since this is a review of the venue. The drink prices seemed decent to me, but I'm accustomed to partying in NYC where you're lucky to find a place that will sell you a beer for under $10. A side note: don't stand underneath the edge of the balcony (I think that was the designated VIP area) because people are stupid and they spill their drinks (both purposely and accidentally). Overall, I'd say that if they scheduled a performance by an artist I enjoy, I'd definitely be back (because I 100% prefer this place over Baltimore Soundstage as a music venue) but I don't think I'd venture over here just to hang out at the bars. read more

Don't get the hate. We tried several other places before settling in here, and they were all empty and dull. So, as a last resort, we bit the bullet, paid the cover, and stepped inside. At the end of the line, they had a dj playing in the streets, with lights buzzing around, and people partying hard. There was great energy there. It was just outside a club, which was packed but not too packed as well. The music in both locations was spot on, the bartenders were nice, and we had a great time. It was just a very fun atmosphere, with great music, and some nice ambiance. It was so weird finding a place packed full of fun people when all the bars around were literally empty. A few of those places looked nice, too. But oh well, the Plant benefits, and it's great. They did turn up the lights and started kicking people out at 1.30, which was unnecessary. But still, we had fun. Easily worth the cover. read more

Came here for the 1st time 9-22-18 for an "around the world" bar crawl (for a friend's birthday). First of all, I got the tickets to the bar crawl for $5 each with a coupon (normally $10 each) so that was a great deal. Had great drink specials and I loved all of the bar options. They had different fun contests, live music, etc. I love that you can drink out in the open, makes you feel like you're in Vegas haha. I'm mad I've been in Maryland for 9 years and am just now discovering how fun power plant is. We'll definitely be back! read more

I do not know why this place has negative reviews I think it's awesome! Admission is only $10 and you get access to a whole row of bars/lounges. Not only that you get a diverse selection. If you are not a crazy party person hang out in the beer garden; it's on the right as soon as you go in. Big selection of beers and a few games to engage in. We checked out the mex and mosaic as well. Mosaic is right outside and has a nice DJ booth setup. We came on a Saturday night so if you enjoy EDM and club mixes this is your spot. Just watch out for the drunk idiots lol. The Mex had a good DJ mixing and nice vibes. There were a few drunk idiots to watch out for as an FYI. Overall, I had a good time and as a tourist it was more then what I expected. If you are in town and do not mind partying this is your place and keep in mind this place closes at 2am. read more

I used to like Power Plant a lot. They used to have a good mix of music for the mixed crowd of patrons. Drinks used to be alot better also. I came here Friday for a happy hour party. I like that they have free validated parking at the Pier V Garage on Fridays after 4pm. The drink specials are good but they were very weak drinks. The bars really only play top 40 and rock. If you are a R&B and Hip Hop fan, this is not the place for you because they won't play a lot of it. read more

Last night was my first night at power plant live and the people that work there are so mean. I had to pay for a ticket twice because THEIR system wasn't working, so I paid 80 in total just to get into this place. The bartenders and security are extremely rude and pick fights with the customers. My friend was yelled at for not "speaking loud enough" when ordering drinks. My other friend was in the way another time and a security pushed her and cussed at her instead of just asking her to move. I didn't eat, but the drinks were poorly made, simple example, Ginger-ale in a margarita? This is the kind of place to go once, and that's that hahaha. read more

The Power Plant Live is a large quasi-outdoor bar area right on the inner harbor of Baltimore. It consists of several bars, with one main bar that has live entertainment. We started off at the Leinenkugel Beer Garden downstairs to wait out the line for the main bar. The beer garden was really cool with Jenga at every table. We got their Miller Lite Tower, which was basically $30 for ten beers, which was not bad. The atmosphere at the Beer Garden was warm and quiet and it was a good place to hang out before heading to the main bar. Afterwards we went to the main bar, which has several bars and a mechanical bull if you are feeling adventurous. The drinks are not too expensive, but there is a cover charge which was $10 for girls and $15 for guys. read more

I gave Power Plant a one star because of their ridiculous pricing and dress code. This was my first time visiting Power Plant and since I got in before 9pm I was in free. I originally didn't know that they charged to get into this location which is just a group of bars in one location. This is a rip-off to downtown Baltimore. If people are looking for a good time and are looking to spend money, why would you take their money at the door without showing them a good time first? Then charge them again to get into a common bar. This is just a common money pit. The second part that really upset me was their dress code against CLEAN WHITE V-NECK SHIRTS!! The big night club in front would not let me in because I was wearing a designer clean, plain, white, V-neck shirt, dress jeans, and clean white shoes. WOW, I said. Really? Is there a gang of guys walking around in white v-neck shirts I don't know about? The manager goes on to say that they just want people to work harder in dressing up when they go out to their clubs. I guess he then noticed that I was not a young guy trying to look older and decided to let me in, not before having to pay a cover charge. Once I got in the club it was full of people under dressed wearing raggedy shorts and cowboy hats. I then saw my counter part wearing the same white shirt, skinner jeans, and a camoflaug fishing hat with a fishing hook on the bill. And I'm the under-dress one! Look Baltimore, you are not known for being upscale (you are not MIAMI), and never will be. Stop trying to rip people off and let them have a good time without trying to over charge them. You'll make more money letting people in and letting them spend there hard earned money at the bar and not at the door. And last FIX YOUR DRESS CODE ISSUE. If someone is wearing baggy cloths, ripped jeans, and dirty shoes, that is understandable. But if someone is nicely put together, clean cloths, and doesn't look like he just got out of a street fight, let him in. He just might spend more money than you'll expect at the bar. By the way, I won't be going back. I would rather spend my money at a bar that won't charge me at the parking lot and again at the door. read more

If you're not from Baltimore and you come here, fine, I understand. This is a tourist trap full of faux upscale/trendy bars and faux upscale/trendy people. It is indeed a neat concept. However, you will get carded going in...and then you'll still get carded going into every single bar no matter what. Drinks are not cheap. I paid $5 for a Natty Boh at a few of the bars. That dear readers is a full blooded rip off. Natty Boh costs something around $0.42 cents per can when you buy it in bulk. I have eaten at a few of the places here, and frankly I would rather eat at McDonalds, where I fully expect to get sick. Some of the bars are alright, but frankly if this is your last resort or your idea of a night on the town, stay in and have a movie night. read more

I went to this location for the first time as the DD for a group of 5 guys. I was asked to leave 35 minutes into it. I drank 1 drink and talked to no one. I basically just kept to myself, and I was asked to leave! The second time I went I got mugged in the parking lot elevator. The third time I went someone was stabbed right in front of me. The 4th time I went, I had no idea I was actually going. I just tagged a long with some friends. When we got to the front of the line, the guy told us it was a 10 dollar cover, something that was new apparently. Well I decided I would have none of that. I told my friends I would rather spend 10 dollars on an uber than pay 10 dollars to go into that establishment, and I went back home. This place is HORRID. It is a waste of money and dangerous. Above all else, this place is not worth a cover. If anything they should give people coupons for free stuff just for coming there. If they are charging a cover, just spend the 10 dollars to go literally anywhere else. You will not regret it. read more

We roll up happy as clams and ready to get our party on. It's too bad that front door security had other plans for us. We were a group of about 25 and of the entire party 4 guys were deterred because their pants were too baggy and one because his shirt was too long ( they were less than one inch below his jean pocket). We are talking about guys who bought these pants from Gap and Old Navy. The pants are sitting on the hip, as good looking jeans should. These guys are college educated, professionals sporting polo shirts and loafers. One guy even had on a tangerine top with linen pants (deemed too baggy). Were not talking hanging off of their behinds or so baggy as to be ill fitting. They were about as baggy as the man and woman who were preventing us from coming into this place. I am well aware of common dress codes in place at many bars and clubs in order to deter sort of unwanted elements. Try being consistent. Don't let in a guy with a graffiti tee and HUGE pants and then only throw him out when an upset member of our party points out the inconsistency. Don't tell someone in our party (who you have already let in) that it is a security breach to let in someone who has pants that look exactly like his. Don't say it is about style because I see the raggedy dressed dudes you let in with baggy cargo shorts and Birkenstock look-a-likes. Please just say on your website "We're scared to let in a group of "intimidating" looking young men unless of course you have VIP service, which we did, and then we will begrudgingly let you enter 20 minutes after this whole debacle starts." This way certain people will know that they shouldn't waste their time. The whole thing sort of reminds me of a quote the bouncer made from Knocked Up and that just makes me sad. read more

That was kind of weird to me. What if I didn't bring my card? It was mostly a younger crowd - mid 20's. There were a lot of extremely drunk people just roaming around. Power plant live is one of those area you go to if A.) You're a tourist and you do not know better. B.) You are new to Baltimore night life. C.) You just turned 21/still in college. Positives: Everything you need is here. There's a dueling piano bar, PBR bar, Comedy Factory, Ram's head Music Venue, and a few other bars. There really is something for everyone. If you want to show some out of town friends out for a good, safe time, I would recommend this place. A dress code is enforced and security is present. You can go out, get hammered, and have fun without worrying about too much. Negatives: Baltimore is an amazing place, and I do not feel that this nightclub area does any justice to it. The power plant is so watered down and pretentious, that it's hard to get a feel for the city. Everything seems to be the same here, even though it is all different. Every weekend is the same and every weekend you see the same "Bros" dressed n their button down, stripped AE shirts. It gets boring very fast and the drinks are not cheap. If you want to experience Baltimore, you would have better luck in one of its many other neighborhoods read more

My first experience with Power Plant LIVE was attending the "Big Dill" festival...must say, I would never go to a PPL event ever again...it's not really family friendly. Instead it's a place were clueless urbanites gather to drink and maybe hook up. LOOK, PPL is NOT Baltimore, it's a corporate rip-off. The drinks are expensive, the music too loud, the food overpriced, the ridiculous parking prices...with Baltimore's rich history and colorful neighborhoods, there are plenty of local, family oriented, neighborhood festivals to attend...we don't need the downtown DISNEYLAND type stuff the politicians who run the City government have decided to allow to come in to revitalize the downtown area. read more

This place is awesome with all the different bars in here! I really enjoy all the different themes here. You can get live music, interactive bull-riding experience, interesting drinks, all for a small fee of cover $10. It was a great place to visit being my first time to Baltimore. We had so much fun moving from bar to bar with little inconvenience of relocating. It was great because once we got bored- we just moved to the next bar! This place is sure to keep you entertained all night with a different experience at each bar. You can also carry your drink from bar to bar which makes this even better! I know almost everyone hates Powerplant but I love it. They have a Leinie's beer garden, howl at the moon and angels rock bar all within throwing distance of each other. What more could you ask for? Yea it is a touristy place or an events place. Meaning you only go for a birthday or if you have to. I liked it though. We went to just hang out and have fun. There was a $5 cover to the place but I think it is normally $10 from what I was told. They take cards for the cover too so no worries if you don't have cash. They also give you the $5 back in the form of a ticket. That ticket is good for one entry into a bar of your choice. After that, you have to pay a $5 cover at each bar. So choose wisely or don't be cheap. The leinie's beer garden was free that night and I think all nights. There is a nightclub there too and an outdoor concert venue. I had a great time. It was a nice secure little area and you can drink outside if you want. Parking garages surround the place and downtown by the bay is there. Hit the strip of stripclubs too because it is only a block or two over. You can't go wrong here. read more

Either I've had a ton of fun here or not at all. Once I got thrown out because I fell in my high heels and they thought I was too drunk...for the record I don't drink. Another time I got kicked out because my friend was hammered and I was the only sober one to be able to take care of here. Other times I'm going form bar to bar dancing and having fun. The employees at many of these places are super cool and fun and they stay at the locations. I've been able to go to a specific bar and talk to the same bartender. When you don't drink, you always look for sober people to talk to throughout the night. This place is expensive, many times there are a cover and then higher drink prices, but it's worth it every once in awhile. read more

Was meeting some friends that I hadn't seen in months. I had 2 drinks prior and was not allowed in. I insisted that I wasn't drunk and I don't know how they came to the conclusion that I had even been drinking. I even asked for a breathalyzer to prove my point. The guard lady with red hair and a tongue ring, pushed me out with an arm bar! She shoved me! I have never had problems with this place before and all I felt after is that I was prejudiced against because of what I looked like. Very rude service. Some guy solely in charge of coat check that called himself "Marvin" (I doubt that's his name) was very rude and would not let people get their coats at the end of the night. And he inn appropriately called me and my friends "bitches" for wanting to get our coats back. (No last call for coats was announced. We were just insulted.). In my opinion "Marvin" or whoever who was in charge or coat check should be fired. He was unnecessarily rude and mean, whereas the other employees were gracious and kind. read more
