I would like to file a formal complaint regarding my experience at the hotel cocktail bar. My friends and I visited the bar with the understanding that it was busy, and we were more than willing to be patient while the staff caught up with service. However, the bartender, Vicki, refused to accommodate us at all, despite our willingness to wait our turn. Rather than acknowledging us or offering an estimated wait time, we were simply turned away. What made the experience particularly disappointing was not the wait itself, but the lack of professionalism and hospitality. We were treated as though our business was not welcome, which is not the level of customer service I would expect from a hotel of this standard. As paying guests, we expected to be treated with courtesy and respect. If the bar was temporarily unable to serve additional customers, a polite explanation or request to wait would have been completely understandable. Instead, the bartender's, Vicki, refusal to accommodate us left us feeling unwelcome and frustrated. While I thoroughly enjoyed my hotel stay, this definitely put an off putting taste in my mouth toward customer service standards. Love this lounge! Inside the hotel. Came with my friend on a Thursday right when they opened so it was very empty. She told me they do get crowded on weekend nights. Recently visited for a friends bday outing. While here I had the mini crabcakes and a few drinks. The crabcakes were good. Ample fresh crabmeat in every bite. The sauce had a delightful kick to it. This dark and moody little spot off the lobby of my hotel was the perfect place to stop for my first cocktail in Baltimore and to enjoy a bevvy before heading out for dinner. The vibe here definitely gives 1970s, and the small, intimate space would be the perfect spot for a date night or ladies night. Since I was solo, I sat at the bar and ordered a delish Ocha Kudabai from their newly-released spring cocktail menu. I also had fun talking to the bartender, who was knowledgeable about literally ALL things Baltimore (and made a mean drink as well). this is definitely a very cute spot to have for the girls night out. The live music was cool, the ambience is great and you can take really cute photos here. Unfortunately I only had one drink so I didn't really get to taste their whole menu, but I will say that they do sometimes require reservations for the actual seating. I recently checked out Bloom's after hearing great things from a fellow Yelp elite, and I had a fantastic time! The decor really stood out with its fun Vegas vibe. We arrived early, but finding street parking was a bit tricky; thankfully, we managed to make it work. Bloom's is tucked away inside The Ulysses Hotel in a cozy corner. The drinks were delicious, although they took a little while to arrive since the place was buzzing with activity. We also enjoyed the shrimp cocktail and the house-made potato chips--they were a nice snack in between our drinks. I was looking for a more lively place on a Tuesday and someone recommended Bloom because of the jazz band. Nice venue and esthetics but the atmosphere is WEIRD and SUCKS! The service completely sucks!!! When I first walked in... the hostess flagged me down to ask where I was sitting...I told her I was by myself...she walks around half the bar and told me there is no seating available at the bar. She it made seem taboo. Sooooo...I go stand by the doorway and after 1-2 mins I ask her what does she recommend I do...then she tells me I can stand at the bar. After that it took over 45 mins before the bartender acknowledged me. The bartender then tells me that they are not serving patrons who are standing because they're busy. The manager tells me to stand in a specific spot and the bartender was like I am not serving standing people..my thought: "this place does not want to make money" The bartender even comes back around and let's me know that someone is about to get up, which I did appreciate. Blooms is a classy, dimly lit bar located inside Hotel Ulysses. I had gotten the Spring Fling cocktail ($16), which had lavender, honey, butterfly pea, lemon and vodka and sparkling wine. It was not overly sweet, but very light and refreshing. I also tried the Jamila ($14), which had a rose infused tequila, cucumber, lime, and honey. For me this cocktail resembled a floral margarita with a unique addition of cucumbers. Our server, Mason, was very kind. He constantly checked in on us to see if there was anything we needed and made sure that our water was always filled. Bloom's does also serve some light snacks like a cheese plate, shrimp cocktail, house made chips, marinated olives, and roasted almonds. Cocktails range from $14 to $18. No gourmet chip, hust plain chips. And the olives were a tiny little bowl of these greasy olives. Most of them nothing but puts. I understand a limited menu and I've had bar snacks. The waiter, Vicky, after I asked for seating for 12 people with about only 4 to 5 patrons in the entire lounge, informed me that it would be too difficult for they and their staff member to serve my party even though we were calm and respectful of them. Two members of my group spoke with Vicky's manager and explained the situation and were met with a "we will speak to them". Nothing was done to accommodate us. Very Friendly service all night. We really enjoyed that the seating was so large and comfortable. So we were pleased as soon as we were seated. We immediately grabbed seats at the bar and kindly waited for the bartender to greet us. Strangely, the bartender did not give us menus right away. When we finally asked for a menu, he told us "oh there's one over there". Another woman had it in her possession, so it was just weird that we were expected to ask someone for theirs (hence my rating). Any who, after browsing the menu, we actually ended up ordering a craft cocktail that wasn't on the menu. The bartender made us a mezcal cocktail with apperol, chartreuse liqour, & peppercorn garnish. It was delicious! The bartender also recommended another speakeasy in the hotel called The Coral Wig, which was actually more of a vibe. What a cute cocktail lounge. The decor alone is worth it. I came on a weeknight, with a coworker and there were a few people seated at the bar and few on the sofas. There was only one bartender so there was a little wait but he made his way to us and made our drinks with care. Loved this interesting bar in Mt Vernon! Went by on a Friday night around 8pm (without a reservation) and they were able to seat us at the bar. If you're coming with a group of people would recommend making a reservation, by 9pm the place was packed. There is a $50 reservation fee online (for no shows). The bar staff were polite, and for the most part were pretty busy getting the orders in. They have some great cocktail choices and some small bites (I loved the French fries!). We paid $35 for two drinks and fries. Ambience is fantastic - the music is not too loud, low lights with a red tinge, and cozy seating makes this a great place for a date night or a friendly get together.
