Do not use this company !!! Calvin Ray Johnson, PowerMax LLC, misrepresents himself/ company as a licensed General Contractor, when in fact he/ it is not. They will steal your money!!! Calvin Ray Johnson/ PowerMax will start a job, then fail to finish despite being paid in full. They told me two weeks for a project and 2 months later they still had not finished (most of their work must be redone to code) The crew comes in, does a little work and makes it look like things are progressing. What is left is a big mess and big hole in out bank account. Calvin Ray Johnson assured us they could/ would in a written contract procure proper permits, which they cannot since they are not licensed to do such. We must have much of their work redone because it was shoddy and not done to code. Again, avoid using PowerMax Renovations LLC or C J Renovations (Calvin Ray Johnson's other unlicensed company offering the same services). There is no review button on the Facebook page; which is why I presume all bad reviews are found on other websites. Please do not use this company, Calvin Ray Johnson intentionally defrauded us, and stole our money. We have submitted complaints with Better Business Bureau, LARA and The Attorney General to investigate his fraudulent business practices. Hopefully, they will be held accountable and not allowed to continue in business in Michigan. If I could give ZERO stars would. Calvin put in a tiled shower in our basement and the work was absolutely piss poor. Said it would take 4 trips to complete when it took over a month. He made it too large so when you're sitting on the toilet, your shoulders will touch the outer drywall from the shower. The floor doesn't slope towards the drain so we constantly have standing water in the shower. He left a HUGE mess for my wife and I to clean up. I asked if he could install a new bathroom exhaust fan and he said he'd have his electrician do it and he didn't install it correctly so I had to fix it. Stay away from Powermax! read more

We hired him to gut and remodel our bathroom. What was supposed to be a 2 week job (so we were told) took over a month. He never showed up when he was supposed to. I don't think he used a level when installing shelves or even stupid things like our toilet paper hanger (which is crooked). He improperly did a lot of plumbing and we had to have a plumber come and fix his mistakes. He's honestly the worst contractor I've ever hired. I could have just youtubed the job and done the same level of work if not better. He should find a new career.... read more

Powermax Renovation LLC, makes BIG PROMISES however, I've only been delivered excuse after excuse. This company did an existing bathroom renovation and a master bathroom addition. We had several issues throughout our project that extended our 3 week project into 9 weeks. The list of issues is too long to even go through them all but our biggest issue was and STILL is, the grout in our shower was done incorrectly. My grout was supposed to be grey but is white. The grout is only grey when its wet. And now its spotted after they so called tried to fix it. Now, after two months from that, it's cracking. Our project started in February and I'm still waiting for them to regrout it. Here's a few other issues we experienced just to name a few... Our tile in our existing bathroom was done incorrectly and had to be taken down and redone which resulted in our new tub getting scratched during the retiling because it was not covered up properly. The plumbing was done incorrectly causing water to leak through kitchen ceiling. The floor in our MB was sealed before the grout was wiped up so it looks terrible. We also had a wall closet installed, and instead of using a stud finder, multiple holes were placed in my brand new closet. We also decided to purchase new bedroom flooring and install ourselves after they were so called done because our bedroom was used as a work space for the entire project and they scratched our floors. Instead of cutting drywall and wood in my driveway, it was all cut upstairs in our room. They did pay to have my ducts clean. the least they could do. Needless to say, this project was a nightmare! I attempted a small claims but he filed bankruptcy. I did not have a judgement beforehand, so we decided to not go forward. Calvin Johnson never came back for his final payment nor did he come back to make the necessary corrections. He assumed not collecting a small amount of money would call it even and he could just avoid me!! Highly recommend staying away from this company! read more
