I should have read the reviews BEFORE I scheduled them for a Nest Hello install. I can't actually comment on their work. Their tech came when they said he would, but after about a short discussion (about 10 mins) we decided the install would be too messy and I told the tech to forget it. He drove away. The next day I got an invoice for $75.00 just for showing up! This was in no way explained to me up front. After a discussion with my contact over the phone, I was told it's in the fine print (of a document I never saw) so essentially I was screwed. Deceptive business practices. I normally don't feel compelled to write reviews but I had to in this case! We contacted Powers IOT to install our Nest doorbell. The long waits and delays in response should have been our first red flag, but we went ahead and proceeded with them. Finally, we got a time scheduled between 3-6. I have two young kids in multiple activities, so not ideal but I made it work. Well, after arranging rides for them, moving things around, etc., 6pm comes and goes and still no Powers IOT. We are annoyed but declare that we will hire another company when they call at 7pm saying they are almost there!!! My husband says hell no, but I say, just get it done, I'm not wasting any more time waiting around. The tech finally shows up at 7:30 and doesn't leave until 9pm. Again, not ideal when you have young kids... I'd steer clear... they just want your $ and have no consideration of your time and schedule. read more

Pros: easy to schedule, arrived on time Cons: unable to reach support later that day when original thermostat touchscreen not responsive after attempt to install nest, did not receive any local contact number. Was told that billing was supposed to contact me as job was not able to be done? Not sure what will be billed, website required credit card to book. While you may not be able to contact them, they they can sure get in touch with you AT FOUR AM! Terrible. Technician came to the house, said he couldn't figure out the problem. He apologized, said we wouldn't be charged and left. Then Powers Energy Solutions contacted us to "authorize" their payment of $99. We of course told them their technician couldn't figure it out and told us we would not be charged for anything. Weeks later, Powers Energy Solutions illegally charged us their fee anyway. Needless to say, our CC company will be dealing with them from here on out. FYI turns out it was a blown fuse in the attic. Took a different companies technician less than five minutes to figure it out and be out the door. read more

As some other reviewers point, I'm very surprised by all the negative reviews on here. I assume this depends on location. This review is for the Seattle area. Powers IoT was sub contracted by On Tech (Google's service provider for Nest products installation). So, On Tech handled scheduling, billing etc. I wanted a professional to install my Nest thermostat because there was no C wire and I was unsure of the wiring at the furnace. My technician was Garrett. He arrived on time and was very friendly and courteous! He first spent some time trying to understand the current setup. Then, he walked me through the C wire installation and informed me why it would be hard to do in my situation. I had ordered a Venstar Add A Wire to avoid having to run a new wire and told Garrett about it. He was pleasantly surprised to learn about it and was very willing to figure out how to install it (he did have to get his manager's approval which went through just fine). The installation went smoothly. One thing to highlight is his attention to detail: Nest guides you through a test of the system - Garrett completed that but then also did a test of his own by turning the thermostat all the way and down and stayed near the vents to make sure warm/cold air was blowing! He then shared his cell phone number and offered after install support if things start acting up (wow!). He had forgotten to install the faceplate behind the thermostat (He wasn't aware mine came with one - newer ones don't) - he offered to speckle the holes left behind by the previous thermostat (again, wow!). Overall, A+ experience for the price I paid. The world needs more technicians like Garrett. read more

It's been over a month since I first contacted Powers IOT about installing my video doorbell and thermostat and I still have no answers about when I can expect the job to be done. I've been given the run around of excuses from the technician, and have not been able to reach anyone at the company by phone. After rescheduling the installation TWICE, the technician showed up for the job without any of the parts he needed to complete the install (even though I specifically requested the installation of a transformer and a common wire in the initial outreach). He left the thermostat half installed, and removed my old doorbell without installing the new Nest one. After over a week of calling, texting, and waiting to hear back about an answer, the technician let me know he's left the area and cannot complete the job. No one from the company has attempted to contact me about sending out a different technician, and I've been unable to reach anyone at the listed company phone number each of the three times I've called and left messages. This experience has been nothing less than incredibly frustrating. At every step, the technician and company have been extremely unprofessional and unprepared. I've only hesitated to reach out to a different company because I know that Powers IOT still has my credit card information on file, and I'm guessing the installation is still open/active on their end (although there's no way to confirm, again, because I can't get in contact with anyone from the company). read more

This is possibly the worst company I've ever dealt with. Paid 350 to get my Nest Hello doorbell installed. Stopped working after 3 days. They came out to look at it and said everything is fine. Stopped working again. Called at 9am when they open but there recording days I'm calling outside of business hours. They didn't pick up till 945. They don't return my phone calls now. So my doorbell doesn't work. So I'm filing a fraud claim and reporting them to the Better Business Bureau. I'm pretty disappointed at Nest too as they are listed as an approved provider. I wish I could give this zero stars. Awful awful company. read more

I have to say that my experience was unlike many of these reviews. It seems they have multiple offices, so maybe it varies by area. I am writing this for an installation of a Nest Thermostat on the dual fuel HVAC system in my home in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Ben, our technician, was really great. I found it very easy to schedule and appointment, and the communication leading up to our appointment was great. Ben called about an hour before he arrived, letting us know when he would be there, and he arrived right at the beginning of our window, as he said he would. Ben was very professional and friendly. He had to troubleshoot a little bit during the installation, and he absolutely went above and beyond in making sure that everything was working for us before he left. Based on this experience, I would feel confident using Powers again for this type of work. read more

I wish I read these reviews BEFORE hiring them. This is a scam. They tell you they need your credit card number in order to make the appointment. Then after they have your credit card number, they never call you back. I've tried calling a number of times. They told me they to give them 3 time slots during the week when i'd be available. They missed the first, missed the second, and when I called, they told me I should go to someone else to get the job done - and they already have my credit card number. I would be VERY careful before I dealt with them again. **Update - I had gotten their info from the Google NEST website. Nest just said that this is not their first complaint, and they will be removed from NEST's preferred provider list. And I just realized that their website that takes your credit card number is NOT SECURE. Chrome says "Not Secure". read more

(This review is cross-posted with Nest and Facebook.) I contracted Powers IoT to install two Nest Cam IQ Outdoors. I had already paired the cameras with my Nest Secure; I only wanted help in mounting the cameras on the exterior of my home. I should have hired a handyman. The contractor they sent was terrible. Instead of using his tools and equipment, he used whatever was lying around my garage. This included: * A power drill * A spade bit * A ladder (how did he not come with one of these?!) It gets worse. One of the cameras required snaking the cable through a stud. The contractor had no tools to do this and asked me to find a wire hanger and tape. I spent 30 minutes with him helping him do this job. Not only that, he wanted to drill a 1" hole through our wall when the manual clearly states the camera needs a 1/2" hole. It also states that caulk should be spread along the wall plate; I had to ask the contractor to do this. I thought a Nest Pro would know what they were doing, but clearly he didn't. To add insult to injury, Powers IoT charged $229 a camera. read more

I'm a little shocked in reading the other reviews as my interaction with Powers IoT was excellent. They were responsive to my requests and easy to deal with. There was a tremendous amount of communication and confirmation about when they would come for the installation of my Nest camera, and they actually showed up early. This company sucks. Please look elsewhere. They required a credit card over the phone just to book. I questioned this but they informed me that the technician would show me an invoice and have me sign a tablet for charges. I was scheduling them because of a suspected issue with my Nest thermostat after Nest Support (which provided EXCELLENT customer service) could not solve the issue. Nest recommended Powers IOT so I contacted them. During the scheduling, I was told the installation cost would be $199. I inquired as to what I would be charged if it turned out that the issue was not with the Nest installation and had to do with my HVAC system. I was told that I WOULD NOT BE CHARGED IF THEY COULD NOT HELP. The technician arrived and told me within minutes that he could not help. He was not an HVAC technician and Powers IOT, he told me, did not even employ any. Thereafter, the tech called Nest support from my living room and sat on the phone on hold with them for a while. I did not ask him to do this and he did not tell me why he was doing it. Then he left. He did not show me a tablet to sign for any charge nor did he mention a charge at all. I presumed I was not being charged as I was told I would not be if they could not help. Then they charged me $99. No one ever told me about a $99 charge and I never saw an invoice. I called their accounting department 4 times over 2 weeks. I left messages and was ignored. So then I disputed the charge with my credit card. Still no responses. When Powers got news of the dispute, they emailed me an invoice (first invoice I had seen) and informed me they would be disputing the charge back and asked me to rescind the charge back. No apology. No explanation. I responded with my grievances and told them I would not be rescinding but would be posting negative feedback if they persisted in disputing the charge back. I received no response. Today my credit card evidently sided with them because I've been charged $99 again. I don't care about the $99. Had they simply returned a phone call and said, "oh there was a miscommunication we always charge a $99 fee per visit, regardless" I probably would have let it go. That was definitely not what I was told, and I would not have scheduled them if I had been told that, but at least if they had called and apologized for the miscommunication and sent me the invoice I never saw, I would have let it go. The technician was professional and did a great job coming up with solutions for my home in B'more. He had everything installed very quickly and was respectful of my house and me. I had to haggle a little with the sales team in order to actually get a decent price, at first they were trying to bankrupt me with their pricing =P Sometimes a good ole fashion phone call does the trick. My only complaint is that I had to essentially bug them to get me scheduled. They said someone would reach out to me within 24 hours to schedule, 72 hours later and no one had called, so I just called them and was able to get scheduled. read more

Do not use these guys. They set up an appointment for yesterday at 9-10am, they never showed up. I took time off work to be there and got no call or anyone telling me they were not coming. When i finally got a hold of someone they said they emailed to say the technician had a family issue. Reset for today, supposed to be here from 3-330, it is now 4:15 and no one has showed up again. Do not use these scam artists, they are unreliable and you cannot get a hold of them. I cannot believe nest recommends these guys...BEWARE read more

Powers IOT is actually powers energy solutions. Had a video doorbell installed and I signed off on the techs cell phone. Total was around 200$, ok that seamed reasonable for what he did. What was charged to my account was 470$, I've made multiple calls and never received a live person. Just voice mail, so I left multiple voice mails requesting a call back to resolve this over charge. No calls back. I would never recommend this business to anyone. Don't bother with Powers IOT, they suck at communicating. read more

Horrible experience. The tech came in and talked to me like I was an idiot. He spoke to me slowly and loudly as if I couldn't understand what he was saying to me. Completely disrespectful. I told him I installed 2 other nest units by myself and that I hired a professional because I couldn't get this third unit to work at one of my other locations. He basically said, "if you couldn't get it to work, I can't get it to work." THEN WHY AM I PAYING YOU TO DO THIS FOR ME?!?!? I hired you because I thought you knew more than I did about the situation. That's why I hired a PROFESSIONAL INSTALLER. Afterwards, I was charged the full amount for the install. When I disputed it with the company, which is not located in Portland, btw, they told me they still needed to charge me as a "service call". What service did I get from you guys?!?!?! I still have no nest installed and I personally re-installed my old thermostat. This is after the screening process where they had me take pictures of the wires of the old thermostat to see if they would be able to install the nest. They received the picture messages and told me "Great, this is compatible with the nest and we can schedule the install now." Horrible! read more

That call never came and when I tried calling them on 4 separate occasions I got no answer. A week later and I have still yet to hear back from anyone at this company. Terrible Service it took them forever to get back to me on top of that i never received a call from Christina who supposedly was supposed to schedule me in for an installation. After sending an email describing how upset i was it took them again almost four days to respond back, the service is literally terrible, I requested for a consultation to have my nest thermostat installed, i had to call and complain to have an appointment scheduled after going through three different people i was scheduled then they also got my address wrong i called them twice and sent an email to correct the address but then again no answer. I never got a call from Christina or the manager instead a manager sent me an email offering 15% off i could care less about the percentage off all i wanted was for the service to be completed. I'm so disappointed with this service provider. They have some nice people working there, but major lapses in communication between departments. I chose Powers loT because the sales rep assured me their technicians are skilled at installing the Nest IQ camera on brownstone exteriors. When I ordered the camera, there was no mention that the devices would be shipped to me, no tracking info, etc., so I assume the installer will bring the equipment. During my first appointment attempt, the installer cancelled 2 hours prior, explaining he had no experience installing on brownstone exteriors. Then, Powers loT attempts to reschedule me with an experienced installer, but the second time around, the original installer shows up, telling me he is now slightly more familiar with drilling holes in brownstones...naturally I didn't feel confident about a novice making a hole in my home. Finally, I manage to secure an appointment with a skilled technician who arrives, specs the right point to install the camera, then asks me where the devices are - apparently, Powers loT was supposed to ship them to me! After this 3rd attempt, I decided to give up. It's been over 9 days since I informed them of my decision to cancel and still haven't seen the refund come through on my credit card. I've received plenty of apologies, but I cannot recommend this service to anyone. read more

Beware! They took my money out of credit card two weeks prior to the service appointment. NOT a single phone call informed on update status whether anyone will come out on the day of service. I waited all day (appt was listed between 9am-11am), even noted on my request to call me if anyone is on their way to come to our place. By 10:30am, I tried numerous time to call the office, only got voice mail. Tried every 15 minutes and got NOONE on the line. Wasted my entire day. Until one hour later, at noon after I posted a bad review online, someone at the office call me back informed me that the dispatcher is in a fender bender on his way to get to my place. Yet NOT a single call was made informed me on the status. I have requested my credit card to dispute the charge, trying to get my money back. No service was delivered and NOONE cared to informed me on the status. Noone in the office taking calls during business hours. Do NOT use this company. Stay away! read more

Hired PES to purchase and install some smart home gadgets (e.g. nest thermostats, august smartlock, keypad, etc.). The first part of the install went relatively smooth, but it started to go downhill quick from there. During the install of my smartlock and keypad, the owner/technician shattered my smartphone while troubleshooting (more about that later). After it seems like an eternity, the install team gave up on installing the smartlock and keypad and said that they needed to go to another job. Really? I paid for an install service and you tell me to call August customer service, bye? So now I'm stuck with a smartlock and keypad that don't work and left to figure it out AND no refund for the install service. Eventually, I get the smartlock and keypad installed and working. But you remember that shattered smartphone? The owner/technician apologized and agreed to cover the replacement cost. However, after submitting the receipt to him and several exchanges he did not cover the cost. I will go with another company to complete the rest of my smarthome work. I guess that's what I get for going with a start-up. read more
