Once again, this company has come through in every possible way. We had a small noise coming from the electrical box that my son heard in the basement and I called DZ and THAT DAY the owner stopped by, checked out the issue, provided details, had his guys come first thing the following day, and before the clock struck nine the work was finished and fixed! They diagnosed an enigmatic circuit tripping problem to an old ceiling light fixture at the top of the stairs. When the A team didn't have the dimmer switches for something else we needed ... This afternoon we suddenly lost power to half the appliances in our kitchen. None of the switches on the circuit breaker were tripped, so we were mystified. Used Angi's list to find electricians nearby, and Darren called within minutes of our request for emergency service. He came by to help us out an hour or so later. Turns out a GFI outlet (that we didn't realize was a GFI) was tripped. He found the outlet and reset it within minutes of entering the house, and didn't even charge us for the service call. We're elderly with limited resources, so he was a real blessing to us. Nice man. read more

He was transparent with pricing and answered all of my questions. Paul was scheduled for my job and he showed up on the earlier end of our expected time. Long review. In brief, wrong services were provided. Incorrect diagnosis made. Electrical fire occurred and no one was sent to check on the house or work they did. Full review below Was having issues with power surges and our electrical heating. Called DZ. They were initially quick to respond and did come in a timely manner. They came and gave their diagnosis and for the next week everything seemed okay. Then the issues began to start again. No heat and surging power. We were told it's not an electrical issue but they were willing to send someone again. We were told a fuse blew from the plumbing issue and we're charged $450. This trip we went to the store and bought the fuse ourself, and the company physically put it in. No other work was done. Again we're told plumbing problem and we had contacted a plumber who would come in two days. Two days later we returned to a basement filled with smoke and an electrical fire. Fire department was called and DZ notified. We were once again told by DZ this is not an electrical issue. No one was sent to check and make sure that was the case. No one checked later in the day to make sure everything was okay. Fire department was confident it was an electrical issue and so we contacted a new company as DZ was adamant it was not an electrical issue and would not send someone until a plumber came to evaluate and confirmed it wasn't a plumbing issue. Again, after an electrical fire just occurred on the parts they were previously working on We called a new electrician. Diagnosed the problem and agreed the initial issue was missed. The plumber came and replaced parts that DZ charged us for since they fried in the surg that was caused by the initial electrical issue. Plumber agreed it was all an electrical issue. Multiple visits later our problem is resolved but DZ still refuses to accept the issue as an electrical issue. While initially responsive, they are now harder to contact and defensive. Would highly recommend a second opinion before using this company. There were multiple charges with no solution. There was no one to check the work after a house emergency that could have turned into a disaster. read more

You're reading this review because you are looking for an electrician, right? Not just any electrician, but one who is experienced, reliable, and reasonably priced. Well guess what, you can stop your searching right now. Trust me, this is the electrician you want working for you! There is no job too small, or too big, for them to handle!! I've had DZ Electrical help me with "typical electrician type stuff" going on 2years now . DZ replaced a single breaker fairly quickly on our electrical panel to get an older hot tub up and running. This was after spending stupid money with someone else who couldn't find the problem. DZ replaced our outdated circuit breaker panel because it was deemed dangerous. This was after being told by someone else..."oh that smell, there's nothing burning...you will be fine." DZ installed motion detector lights on the front of our house after our cars were broken into. DZ even refurbished our 30+year-old landscaping lights that I was too stubborn to have replaced...and now, "ta-da" they look absolutely beautiful again!! As a woman, I find it difficult at times to be taken seriously. But Darren (owner of DZ), Rob, and Orlando have always been super patient to listen to what I have to say...never making me feel like a nuisance with all the nauseating details I offer. They always listen, always smile, and answer every question, no matter how many times it is asked. This review should have been written long ago because their work is that good, but you know...life gets in the way. Shame on me! But what they did this past week was nothing less than remarkable....almost super-hero like. So my story goes like this....getting ready to leave on a long overdue vacation on our boat, when poof, boat's air conditioning stops working in the 95+ degree weather we had this past week. Called my boat mechanic, had parts replaced, but no good...still no A/C. Mechanic calls in another mechanic, who replaces even more parts, but also no good....still no A/C. Got a third specialist involved who identified it as an electrical short "somewhere" between point A and point B, but he was not up to fixing it...so still no A/C. Thought for sure our vacation was history. BUT then I thought about DZ Electrical.....hmmmm, could Darren, and/or Rob, figure out what the heck was going on, and help salvage at least part of our vacation? My husband and I met with the Darren on Saturday 7/25th. After looking things over, Darren was honest and said tackling an electrical issue on a boat would be new for him, but was confident he could find out what was going on. My husband was so impressed that he decided on the spot to ask Darren to tackle it. The very next Monday 7/27th Darren was back on our boat- as promised- with Rob and Orlando. They were organized, came prepared with what might be needed, and worked so well together. It was obvious they were determined to find the problem. Not only did they find problem, they FIXED the problem!! I was amazed....and so grateful!! I need to mention, they worked in extremely difficult conditions; space is tight in our boat's engine room where a lot of the A/C wiring and components are, and it was screaming hot down there too. I never heard a complaint. I don't see how, but they were actually in good spirits. It was obvious to me that they enjoy a challenge. It's what they do! Considering what a monster of a job this was, the repair was done in a fairly short amount of time, and our boat was left spotless....probably cleaner than they found it. Who works like this anymore, takes such pride in their work? Sadly, not many people, they are a rare find!! Long story short, we were able to salvage a good part of our vacation because Darren, Rob, and Orlando were laser focused on one thing....satisfying their customer. Thanks guys, you truly are the BEST!!!! PS: I'm writing this after returning from our abbreviated vacation. Only one complaint(but don't tell Darren), temperature got too cold in the cabin; had to turn A/C down. LOL read more

I was in a bind as I had 2 other less reputable electro companies bail on quotes or become non responsive. I came to Yelp, typed in "electricians", and DZ came up the highest ranked. I emailed their website contact page on a Saturday and 10am and had a call from Darren by 11am and a site visit/quote scheduled within 3 hours. They came and provided a quote within 24 hours of the site survey. Then came and completed the work within 10 days. So often when I use companies for home repair, the technicians are also the ones running the business and so you get pretty mediocre customer service as they can't return any calls or schedule their day efficiently. I bought a generator and called DZ to install the required transfer box. Darren arrived the same day and told me that my box was already overloaded with breakers and I would be better served to upgrade this system . It sounded good to me because this box had been giving me problems with faulty breakers and looked worn. As promised he started the job in a few days and I couldn't be happier. The electrician who came was fastidious about his work, carefully labeling every circuit. The new box was perfect and large enough to handle any extra breakers I may need in the future. The transfer box was also installed as an outlet for the generator. Since the generator has a 220v 50A outlet he made a 25' cord for the job which looks and feels quite solid and has a special outdoor adapter. I have to say this was an outstanding experience and I am quite happy with the job and the price for the work. I highly recommend DZ. read more
