The 1-800-342-5775 service center in Charlotte, NC, is a 3rd party contractor -might as well be in North Korea- who thrive on saying NO. They will frustrate you endlessly by circular logic, put you on hold repeatedly, the "manager" you'll speak with is a sham, and yet at the end when you give up, reserve the gall to ask you, "will there be anything else I can assist you with today?" And, the final insult, "did I completely satisfied your need?" The PPL customer service is a pure joke!! There is NO local office or office personnel in the Lehigh Valley area to communicate with, either by phone, visit or mail/email. They have trained their security guards -3rd party staff- at the 9th & Hamilton St and the 827 Hausman Rd to shoo you away telling you to call 1-800-342-5775 instead -the very CS you spoke with who gave you the supposed "local office" to contact to resolve your issue. Rates are way too high, and when we experience power outages (which happen far too often) it takes them forever to put power back on. A tree branch fell on our wires which tripped a breaker. All they need to do is switch the breaker back on.. it takes less than a minute.. (we know this as it happens all the time, and we have experienced this many times over 22 years). We are waiting nearly twenty four hours at this point, with no power, and the POL power outrage map doesn't even give a time for restoration. My line has 4 customers on it.. with no restoration time yet listed, but other homes close to us with only 1 customer are ahead of us to be turned back on efen though we have more homes out than them! Terrible customer service. And a supervisor came out this morning and I told him how quick of a fix our power restoration is (just the flick of a breaker) and it still sits with no restoration time being given... even though our neighbors with less homes out are apparently scheduled to be restored before us. They will ask you personal questions that violate your constitutional rights. They force you to give personal information in exchange for power. The information they ask is very private and no other organizations had ever asked such questions. In addition they will actually threaten you, your livelyhood, and the safety of your life if you fall behind the slightest bit. Finally, they think they own your electric meter when they absolutely do not! That meeter is your meeter connected to your house. Do not let them touch it without supervision.
