Being American in France is hard, everywhere you go you struggle to communicate. You don't want to live up to the stereotype that many Europeans already have of Americans. When we went to this restaurant we tried our very best to use the small French that we knew. We were nervous while ordering. The attendant, Denise, was beyond accommodating and started speaking to us in English. He smiled, was friendly and very helpful while we were ordering. The food was really good, but if you want great service this is the place to go. We spent about 20 Euros on two sandwiches, a dessert, chips, and a drink. Great atmosphere as well.

Pret A Manger is an excellent place for coffee, pastries, lunch. We ate there very often. Some employees speak English but some don't nevertheless the service was always excellent. This is not a very expensive place. Basically for 10 euros you can get yourself a nice lunch consisting of hot soup, sandwich, drink and a pastry. Paris is a very expensive city so this place can provide you with good budgeted lunch or dinner. I have noticed that around 1 pm it gets super crowded with office workers who I think come there for their lunch.

Love the smoked salmon sandwich which you cannot get at Pret in the US! The location was not that clean though.

The portion sizes were excellent for the price. I was expecting smaller portions, so I was pleasantly surprised when my plate came out packed with food and definitely worth the value. I would definitely recommend checking this place out, especially the location near the Eiffel Tower. Great food, generous portions, and an overall good experience!

I had a mimosa also which was 20 euros (too much). There is a long wait for a table at Carette as it's become very popular thanks to Tik Tok and IG. We stood in light for about 30 minutes. The staff does a great job of keeping things moving as quickly as possible, but they can only do so much as people are relaxed while enjoying their hot chocolate and treats. We noticed several tables around us getting strawberries and cream which looked amanzing but the price of this was not listed anywhere in the menu so we opted to not be sticker shocked any further (a-hem 20 euros for one glass of mimosa). Ultimately, Carette offers delicious hot chocolate and it's great to say that you went there, but I can't imagine having hot chocolate in 90 degree farenheit weather outside, after standing in line for 30 minutes, but do you boo! THE FOOD ------------------…read more+ THEEEEEE gold standard for macarons in Paris ... or anywhere for that matter. + Macarons here are a little crisp, a little pillowy softness and a whollllllle bunch of flavor. - It cost a pretty penny (about 3 Euros for 1 piece), but you won't regret it for a second when you bite into one of these addictively delicious treats. THE SERVICE ----------------------- + All class, top notch white glove service - literally - they handle the macarons with much care like it were gold! THE SURROUNDINGS ------------------------------------ + Located in the heart of the Champs-Élysées on Rue Lincoln, so, YES, it is busy like rush hour outside ... and inside. + There are 2 sides to this massive flagship location - you can either make a purchase of macarons at their store OR dine/sit down in their tea house. Both have lines to wait on, but making a purchase only takes about 10 minutes on a weekend, while dining in looks like an unimaginable wait! + The store to make a macaron purchase at has 3 tables to sit around to enjoy your purchase of delicious macarons. You MUST catch someone about to leave (like we did) in order to snag a table. RANDOM OBSERVATIONS ------------------------------------------- = Expect waits on a weekend afternoon, especially to sit down in the tea room. If you just make a store purchase, it's only about a 10 minute wait ... and you'll be thanking your legs for that. = It's a tourist destination in itself, so expect LOTS of people taking photos of this location. CONCLUSION ----------------------- = Yes, I'm from the tri-state area and they've had a Laduree in NYC since 2011, but there's alwayyyyys something special about going to one of the originals and this spot is no different.

But if you haven't, this is a strong contender for worthy macarons in Paris and at a convenient location across the street from Ladurée. Located inside L'Occitane in the most gorgeous floor space ever, you will find Pierre Hermé at the center of it all. They have an impressive array of flavors that were much more unique than other patisseries. I definitely asked for a few recommendations as well since I tend to order the same thing (pistachio, raspberry, lemon, etc.) The workers were very kind. They indulged my request to converse in French and corrected me in a respectful and endearing way (I know some people get upset at this idea but I personally prefer it.) I had ordered a dozen macarons but truthfully would've ordered the entire lot if I wasn't alone and especially if I wasn't already taking a ton of sweets back for my flight home. I am a Ladurée purist and what I can say is that Pierre Hermé definitely had the best and most unique flavors compared to the two. The prices are fairly comparable and the coffrets are just as tasteful. Both are strong contenders and worthy of your money. I certainly will be returning and look forward to trying the rest of their selection. (15/50--2025)
